Continuing from my last blog, my friend and I decided that one month wasn't enough so we've extended it until summer.

Here are my results from last year:

Nov. 11
+ Show Spoiler +

Dec. 5
+ Show Spoiler +
[image loading]

I actually haven't really worked out since the second picture so I really have to start doing a lot more. Even though the bet is to gain weight, I'll probably end up just toned from biking so I plan on simply getting in shape.

List of to-dos:
- Running
- Biking (duh)
- Pull-ups/push-ups
- Basketball (I actually dislike basketball but my friends are doing IM BBall so I'll be trying it out for real for the first time since elementary school)
- Weights at gym
- Probably some rock-climbing once in a while

Anyone else planning on shaping up as a New Year's resolution? Post!

I weigh like 118 and I'm done trying to gain weight. I think I'd look worse if I was any bigger. I posted a before pic in the workout thread in general (i was 115), and then as I gained weight I decided I didn't like it.

Sheesh Im fat, Im about 182cm, 90kg
Looking forward to lose about 15kg, especially when the warmer weather kicks in. Its like 0 degrees here today and well going to the park is not an option.

None of those activities is going to generate any noticeable muscle mass, unless when you weight lift you go high weight and low reps. But who cares. All those activities will make you healthier than fuck.

From that list Pull-ups/Push-ups and weight training (rock climbing if you do it enough also) should increase mass, while the others should define the muscles more through light, but heavily repeated movements.

It's easier to gain mass first through large amounts of weight training and eating right, then burning all the fat away and defining the muscles more after. Of course, it sounds less healthy than a balanced workout and it probably is.

I call those people blind who say they can't see any difference between those pics. For just one month of training the improvement you've made is great, I'd say. Keep it up.

Ah I can't really say I did anything special. I did eat a lot more often and more at meals though. Ate plenty of food in between meals, protein powder before/after working out, and I ate a good amount of SoyJoy bars too (I got a ton from this one study that going on at my school).

Definitely a really noticeable change there. Keep up the dedication! It's persistence that gets you anywhere. I don't have any, so any goals like these that I set just go down the drain.

Impressive change for less than a month

I've been pretty severely underweight for a while, just starting to get it back on track. Best of luck to you.

135lbs 5'9 1/2, 19 years.

I cant gain weight. Even when I go to the gym 4 days a week, do plenty of lifting, and have a high protein diet, I cant gain more than 6 lbs. My strengh increases, as in I can lift heavier weights and do more repetitions, and my muscles look more tone and larger after working out, but I barely gain weight.

with my workout (stronglifts.com) i went 3 days a week, went from 142lbs to 157lbs, eating and using protein powder. 11 pound gain took around 3 months then went slower because I was slacking in the eating department, but its the strongest/heaviest i've ever been even counting many years ago when I was playing football and lifted a lot. u can gain weight but you have to eat enough and get enough protein (eat at least 3 times a day, with snacks, and get protein after working out), u dont have to do a lot of reps, just heavier weight as you go with proper form, and depending on if you just want to look big or get stronger your workouts will be different. i wanted to gains strength and mass, so i do squats, deadlifts, pushups, chinups, pullups, bench press, overhead press, exercises like that, they will give you a proportioned look doing push and pull exercises with most exercises working more than one area saving lots of time.
this is my workout log, haven't updated in a bit because I need a new gym to go to but maybe it can help.
http://stronglifts.com/forum/bert-s-log-t15952.html

not sure what you were doing or what you were eating but saying u cant gain more than 6lbs means you aren't doing something right, you CAN do it. and i wouldn't recommend running or biking it will make it harder to gain weight, i'd wait till you get to a decent weight first.

you should not concentrate on protein so much as you should carbs/fat when you are at that weight.

i hate this ugly firebat. i want a marine.
