This season on ICCup, I'm doing a bit better. I'm massing now as opposed to just playing 3-ish games a day. I've broken 1600 for the first time, but, since then, I've gone 1-15, bringing me down beneath 1000.

It isn't just me losing legit games either, it's doing stupid shit like forgetting to build a refinery on 12 or a depot on 9 too.

How do you guys deal with losing streaks like this?

EDIT: For reference I was 16-18 pre-streak and am 17-33 post-streak.

Use sticky notes on your monitor to remind you to do stuff.

If I lose 3 games in a row, I stop playing and try again the next day.

I'm on a laptop so that wouldn't work too well

stop playing and take a break. When you lose a lot you get frustrated and your game just starts to fall apart

I've tried that before. They dont work. I never saw them during a game because I was too focused on the game.

This is true and also, if you make a bad mistake like that, REMEMBER IT and try to never do it again. Learn from you mistakes and you will improve very quickly.

that doesnt seem like a really good solution, and is totally dependant on who you are playing. You could lose those 3 games in a row, but at the same time take in a bunch of new knowledge from those losses, whereas you just get fed up and log off. Doesnt seem like a good way to improve at all, since you only really keep playing if you are winning consistantly, which doesnt help a person learn their mistakes.

It seems like this method is a bit counter-productive towards bettering your playstyle from losses. Also, what if you played 3 B+ koreans back to back. do you just say, oh I just got raped by 3 semi-pro's im logging off! Just seems like a silly way to decide when you have enough.

Everytime you go on a losing streak you should take a break from Starcraft, go watch a movie for example, and then come back

Rage, play bit more, lose, then go to sleep without doing anything. Then again I'm d- and pretty terribad, so every win is kinda special every other week that it occurs.

as soon as you lose and you dont know why, watch over the replay carefully and think on how you could avoid that situation next time, you will alot calmer and more impatient. Also refresh your energy by taking a break, go eat+drink, relax etc depending on how frustrated u are.

If you know why you've lost your past couple of games and it's a really easy thing to fix(forgot a depot, messed up your build in some other way, forgot to scout, etc), you probably just need to take a break, if only for a little bit. Do something else, take your mind off the game, and relax. It's pretty easy to get mad at yourself for silly mistakes like that. Given that you were 16-18 pre losing streak, I doubt you'll have the same problem when you get back to the game.

If you're going on a losing streak like that and you don't know why, reviewing a few of your replays is pretty helpful. Chances are, there's a mistake or set of similar mistakes that you can find in a bunch(not necessarily all) of your games. For me, this is losing to early pressure because of bad micro. Find one or two things to focus on for your next few games, and see where that gets you.

I was on a 6 game losing streak. 3 zvzs, 1 cheese, 1 korean, 1 bad reaction.

I just kept playing and won the 7th game.

I went on a ten game losing streak last season before I broke D+ for the first time. I'm not entirely sure what happened--I browsed over my replays, took note of bad decisions and bad mechanics and called it a day.

The next day I won 6 straight and got 2048 points (lost in on the 7th game to a cheesy zerg on Colosseum, but you get the idea). I guess a lot of it is just relaxing and calming down (like what everyone here has said...XD) focus in on your initial BO and take it from there. Try to keep the larger game in mind, too. You know what you're doing, but try to keep in mind what your opponent is doing as well.

if your on a big loss streak, dont play. Its all a lack of mental focus. The more you play the more you will lose, and it will just become a viscious cycle. If I feel myself tilting [which is essentially every time I lose, tbh], I just log off for the night.

if i lose 3 straight im probably too riled up to be in the right state of mind.

i'd get frustrated and if i played anymore i'd probably get all tensed up and get pissed.

so before i lose that 4th game in a row and throw my keyboard across the room i goto sleep =/

hey it happens to the best of us, just keep playing and learning from your mistakes. I always seem to get short winning streaks and long losing streaks but it's all good. Winning 2 games in a row makes me feel good.

I rage if I lose three in a row. Then I proceed to 4-pool every game until I win one. Then I stop playing immediately.

I feel that this season has a really slow start. It's been... 2 weeks already, and there are still a lot of C+ or better players sitting at C-.

Last season, about midway through I picked up SC again... and somehow went 8-2 with Lurkers. (I played mostly Terran opponents)

And then I lost the next like, 10 in a row. Darn. I watched my replays, picked out my mistakes, and started practicing on micro maps to get Mutalisk control down. Ended up 16-18 (Of course, it didn't help that I played at 5 in the morning... tiredness + every opponent being Korean is not a good thing)

I'm on a losing streak too! Last 11 or so games I won about 2 of them. Taking a small break to relax and get rid of the bm in me

Man, it's hard playing ICCUP this time of the season. At D+ where I am currently, the level is around C easily. You may get a lot of losses because of that, although it's very rewarding when you beat someone better. After one of these losing streaks I get up, smoke a cigarette and say to myself that I shouldn't get frustrated over a game. So I sit back down and get my ass handed to me 10 more games. ^^

I like winter because I can actually cool myself outside rather easily if I get thrown out of balance.
If you make regular mistakes in simple things like build orders I think it's time for you to open single player.
Even if you lose concentration you'll start to do things subconsciously which isn't really affected much by it.
