Welcome to Team 4. I'm Dan, and my co-coach (aka the better coach) is Ray. As cheesy as it sounds, I hope you guys are ready to kick ass, because we're super pumped to teach you. Ray may beg to differ, but I strongly believe that, first and foremost, we're here to help you guys out. That means by the end of this, you're all going to be much stronger players, regardless of whether we win or lose. But after working with us, I'm sure you'll feel like taking this entire league should be a piece of cake (and it will be, given you put in the time and effort).
The most important thing I want you guys to know, though, is that we can only carry you so far. We can teach you plenty of earth-shattering things and give you helpful hints, but the most important things, we can't teach you, including basic micro and macro. These things take practice: we can make the learning process faster, but we can't make you learn it.
Finally, tell us a bit about yourselves. I'll start off:
My name is Dan Chen, and I'm a freshman at Caltech. Despite being at the most anal-retentive college in America, I should be reasonably free to coach next term because we're still going to be on Pass/Fail grading (up yours, Ray). I started playing Starcraft seriously around when sAviOr started slumping, and Jaedong was on his legend-killing warpath (late 2007). And that's when I met Ray. He spent countless hours bashing my noob ass all the way up to where I am today. I hope he can do the same for all of you (except with more teaching and less bashing).
And, as a final note. DO NOT mention APM or BWChart or eAPM or any of that nonsense to me. PERIOD. Also, DO NOT talk about racial imbalances. Everything is imbalanced in Starcraft. It's up to you to exploit the imbalances in your favor.

If you haven't caught on by now my name is Ray. I am a freshman at Duke. I started playing StarCraft about six years ago, and started to get competitive at the game around three years ago. Since then I have been part of the national team and have been following both the foreign/progaming scene pretty diligently. I am willing to do my best to help you guys learn. Luckily for you guys, my off-races are nearly as good as my Protoss, so your race won't be much of a problem. And Dan the sexy can help you out with Zerg. Believe it or not, I first met Dan when he was a mere D- novice (like some of you) but I have trained him all the way up to where he is now: C+. You better believe it  Anyhow, I look forward to working and playing with you guys. Alright I sent the coaches a PM already but here for my mates:
I'm Chris! First year University student from Canada with a part time job working at a retirement home.
I'm D+ Protoss and D Terran/Zerg, I dodge TvTs though.
My timezone is PST (-8 GMT), and I am usually on in the evenings (after 7pm), and other than that I can be on just about anytime given enough notice.

I'm David, I work at a large corp doing IT and networking in the Greater Vancouver area.
I'm a D/D+ zerg, I try to dodge ZvT when possible...
Timezone: PST GMT-8
I'm on during the evenings, generally 7PM onwards, I however am busy tues/wed evenings and saturday afternoons (late enough I can easily make the league games.)

Hey team, since we're going off a first name basis mine is Chad. I'm a junior in highschool. I started playing SC when it first came out and played on and off. I didn't play competitively until just this summer and have been watching the progamers for a little over a year now. I'm really excited to start working with the team and the coaches and yes I do believe that we're gonna smash this league!
I started to play zerg and never looked back after watching jaedong(total fanboy) play. On the CPL News and Announcement thread it said I was D+ but don't let it fool you. I'm borderline and need lots of work to stay at that rank. I play best around 5:30 PM PST to around 9. Past those hours my mechanics, timing, decision making, multitask etc. start to falter and I get slower. I hope that we can work on this and focusing and learning how to rebound from things like that. Also since its winter so my hands are cold and it sucks to micro with cold hands.
I got a mic(if you guys have vent or something) and already registered a [cpl]sixduck account, if you can't find me there then I'm on my other accounts: sixduck, preech. My aim sn is chadmeltsfaces and if you want other info just pm me.

Hey guys Im [CPL]Illusion. My IRL Name is Aaron
Anyways im 16 and a Senior in high school, and just recently got into iccup and competitive playing after watching it alot.
I started to play terran after i saw KawaiiRice who i am now friends with and Artosis play it.
So I hope to learn how to multitask well, and Micro my units to the best of their ablilty. In addition i feel that im weak in expanding and such....
My favorite map is Destination, and i really like mech on it. However Bio is really fun.
I also have a mic so if we get vent that would be really cool.....
So i g2g now its about 12 PST and school is tomorrow. This will be a great experience and i feel our team has melded fairly well so far.

hey Im snorlax, my Aim is direchicken123 (old not worth making a new one despite stupid name) my Iccup ID is gosu_panda.. I have been lurking on tl for a year maybe two now but Ive always been low D- until recently when I got 1500 or so, which I think is pretty good considering I haven't been really playing much until the last couple of weeks. I'm -8 GMT and will be on most of the time on the weekends. I am 16 and currently in highschool so weeks are pretty busy. My favorite matchup is TvZ but I have really grown to like the other matchups as well. Also sometimes I can get on during the weekdays if my parents are out

Hey, snorlax. I just need to make sure you are willing and able to put in as much effort as everyone else on the team (I was about to give up on you, and I've pretty much given up on O-ops at this point). Also, make sure you check your PMs and this thread at least once a day (it takes like two seconds). And don't forget to make a [CPL] account and join the iCCup team (or else you won't be able to play).
Anyways, I hope you have fun. I'll be done with finals by Saturday, so I hope to get a good idea of your skill level and start practicing sometime around then.

Edit: hey I was also wondering if we could try and get our games moved a bit later as I have a hard time getting on before 5 O'clock West Coast Time (3 hours earlier then East) so playing at 11 would be hard to do =/. It seems reasonable as long as we aren't playing against players from Europe since it would just be 8 O'clock there which isn't that late. I understand if not all the games can get changed and ill try and work out a way to make some of the earlier games.

i just finished my work and can play if anyone's up.
oh and, name's austin, 2nd year comm college student. my play schedule WILL be nearly anytime after finals this week, but i am open usually weekends and most evenings besides mon/tue/fri. i was just a bnet player for a long time, played with a small group of friends constantly and pub games.
as for personal quirks, i enjoy posting on this page just to see oneother's comment at the top of the page :D

Num it would be a good idea to abuse the terrans seige expand/try not to let them expand into their nat or delay them.
Shiladie if you read this ABUSE THE TERRANS NATURAL NEAR THE GAS its VERY vulnerable to muta micro if you can pull it off.
ALTAIR HWAITING GOGOGO U WILL WINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN i hope <3 ur last strategy really paid off and i think that will work again!
Six prepare some sort of all in using hydras or something cause tosses usualy like to get their mineral only really fast or gas but its a good map to expo on for them. also u should drop lurkers behind their mineral lines ALOT and try and relentlessly starve them out. Lurkers and drops are your friend in that matchup!

K guys after a rough TvP day for me i gotta post this. Im really really mad at myself...I put so much effort and work into getting better over the past month. I havnt seen ANY improvement. My pushes get dominated after mere seconds of pushing out no matter what. I
I wont be playing any of you guys till i get better. Ill be on my ladder account The.Illusion so dont be surprised if you dont see me on my CPL name. So yea...Num and Altair know my style to much and just counter it instead of playing standard so yea.
If a coach wants to help me id be glad to but there is NOTHING a coach can help with regarding my mechanics which obviously sucks.

Introduction:
My name is Mattias and I'm 20 years old. I live in a close to uninhabitable enviroment (fucking 30 degrees below) on a big clump of ice located in the northern Europe (known as Sweden).
I started following the professional SC scene in the spring 2008 and I quickly fell in love with Flash (which is the reason I'm a Terran player). It took quite a long time until I actually started playing myself; I played my first ever online game almost exactly 1 year ago (January 25th). I played three games that day and lost all of them in a horrible fashion (of course) and got really discouraged (I hate losing and failing so much that my motto in life is ''If you never try you will never fail'' (nah, not really)), so I didn't start playing regularly and seriously until CPL.
A main problem I have as a SC player is, quite naturally, really bad mechanics and non-existant multitasking. Or rather, I do this thing where I try to multitask much more than I'm actually capable of. I tend to end up trying to do everything at the same time which results in me doing nothing correctly. XD That happens a lot. Another general thing I need to fix is a tendency to, sort of randomly, make absolutely ridiculously fucking retarded and nonsensical decisions. Like my first CPL game where I moved out with a group of MnM, found some Lurker eggs and an overlord in a sneaky position outside my main. My brain said ''Hey, he's making his lurkers here which means that I can go kill his third!'' and somehow managed to persuade me into ignoring the overlord which would've taken me 1 second to kill with one little click with my mouse. Half a minute later I died to a slowdrop. XD
My TvZ is normally my strongest MU, I have won a few games against C- Zergs. I'm very inconsistent though, so it varies a lot. My TvP is my second best MU, but it's pretty bad. Main problem; they have Arbiters. Nuff said. XD I am relatively inexperienced in TvT and as a result I have very, very poor gamesense.
My main interests (other than SC) are music (I'm a great fucking guitarist :D), football (soccer), video games (Nintendo!) and partying (beer FTW!).
I don't use MSN or AIM or anything like that, but I always automatically check out TL the first thing I do whenever I sit down by a computer, so PMs here are a great way to get a hold of me. My daily rhythm is fucked up beyond belief, so there should be no problem finding times to practise with you yanks (and whatnot).

I want you online right now soo badly. Our team is really quite a team, like we all get on quite a bit and practice mostly with each other. As such, everyone is gonna be gawking at you for a little while. We'll all expect 2-3 games at least to check out your skill and such. Also, you better come online tonight, if not for games then at least to watch JD/Flash, there is no better way for two SC players to bond than over such an epic matchup.
EDIT: What is your timezone? Most of us are PST I believe, so hopefully yours works out with that ^.^;;;

Yeah their Match Point switch fucked me up. Oh well, I'm confident we'll win as long as Dave reads the ZvP essay I wrote him (1259 words, longer than essays i write for my humanities classes).
