Year 12 is over. I don't have a job and I'm fucking proud of it. Our results, and the corresponding ENTER score (essentially a percentile ranking of your scores respectively to that of all other students within the same system in the same state of Australia) will be released on the 14th of December, then I'll be able to mass-apply to a tonne of degrees! I'll probably end up going down the lines of an International Politics/Journalism/Economics degree, as long as I have achieved to a high enough standard in my gruelling exams (some of them were over 3 hours long, others at 3:00pm on a weekday finishing at 5:15pm, sometimes sweltering under 35degrees celsius ;_; ). Good luck to anyone else in the same boat as me in this regard! I hope you all manage to find a placement in any pathway which will further your prospective careers.
On a completely unrelated topic, I have only recently acquired a taste for Progressive Metal. Having stood on the outside looking into the scene for a few years now, I stepped up to the plate and *acquired* roughly 10GB of prog and have finally finished going through all of it. That is quite literally, 7 days worth of music! Hot damn, I am so glad I took a leap of faith after holding out on this genre which I had labelled as 'pretentious' and 'too wanky' for so long.
Having trauled through the discographies of:
* Dream Theater
*Fates Warning
*Redemption
*Evergrey
* Pain Of Salvation
*Shadow Gallery
*Nevermore
*Threshold
*Symphony X
*Circus Maximus
I have to say that there was a complete range of quality of music, some good, some awful, and some mind-blowingly eargasmic. I thoroughly reccommend any metal fans take some time out to check out a few albums, including Circus Maximus' "The 1st Chapter", Dream Theaters MASTERPIECE "Scenes from a Memory (or Metropolis: Pt2), Symphony X's "Paradise Lost", Threshold's "Subsurface", and Redemptions "Snowfall On Judgement day".
These truly are the most solid, magnificent albums I have heard in a long, long time. 5/5 for these.
(Some youtube's for any interested:
Redemption - Black and White World
Dream Theater - Overture 1928
Symphony X - Revelation
Other than that, I would just like to say that I am proud to have Idra on my anti-team. Also, if anyone wants a Zerg practice partner with way to much time on his hands, hit up "ItsALion" or "dethrawr" on iCCup. Ill be only too happy to play with anyone, anytime!
