My father wants to switch away from Rogers as they are giving us and many others trouble in my neighbourhood. However, I fear that Bell will be just as worse and slower as Bell uses DSL (iirc). Can anyone suggest a good Canadian ISP for my family?

Poll: Which ISP should I choose?
(Vote): Rogers
(Vote): Bell
(Vote): Other (please explain why)

Have you tried calling Rogers to fix the problem?

When I first came to Canada I used Bell but I recall it being bad, I've had Rogers for about a year now and I haven't had any problems at all yet.
Making history not reliving it.

I've had Bell and Rogers. For me, both ISPs gave me their full home networking solution (an all in one internet modem which had ethernet ports and wireless) and in my honest opinion bell was a lot better. The speed was always stable for both ISPs but Bell NEVER disconnected in the year I had them. I have Rogers right now and the internet decides to disconnect every few days, and on bad days it disconnects every 10 minutes. I'd go to Bell. Even if it DOES go slower, you probably won't notice it unless you download a lot of things.

TekSavvy is the best ISP in Canada. It's a wholesaler of Bell (different than reseller) and you get 200 gigs of bandwidth a month for 30$ a month.

It's also the highest rated ISP on broadbandreports.com
http://www.dslreports.com/gbu

Also, if you fear torrent throttling, they offer MLPPP which circumvents the throttling for 4$ a month which includes Static IP if you want and the usenet group.

I know I sound like a salesmen but there's really no other ISP you should use if you live in Canada.

Check it out at least

Rogers sucks, I was with it for a few years and then 2 months ago it just started to shut off randomly. Calling them was pretty gay too, because they put you on hold for like, an hour. I switched to a local company, and there haven't been any problems so far.

edit: never heard anything good or bad about bell, so, yeah

I live in Saskatchewan and we have a crown corp called sasktel. They are very reliable and are never down unless there is a storm. It seems that provincial or local companies gives a more consistent connection.

Rogers is good. Bell sucks.

Bell scammed hundreds of dollars from my family because of a loopy contract.

i suggest you check again

edit: @frozenclaw
i haven't heard of teksavvy so i checked it out & their website seems to be missing a whole lot of info.. i dont even know if their speeds are Mb or MB, just says M lol. I'll go ahead and assume Mb
their bandwidth/$ per month is pretty sick, but they dont have a rent option for a modem ;( and their naked DSL has a bunch of extra costs too (who has a landline nowadays anyway ). and their activation costs are pretty killer ;(
I could see how they could be a good deal for long-term though, I'll keep them in mind

This. My sister uses this and it's the shiznizz. She downloads gigabytes of stuff every day, and she still can't reach her cap. (They also have an unlimited bandwidth plan IIRC.)
Soli Deo gloria.
