Physician United States4146 Posts November 16 2006 13:21 GMT #1 Arctic Blindness & Desert Mirages A new map from BroodWarMaps.net, and a little rant about desert maps, and why we should every now and then, leave constructive criticisms or kind words of encouragement. So wear some shades or light up a blunt. I personally keep waiting for Desert maps (my favorite terrain) but the color confusion myth scares people from using it. Plus, there will never be a lack of retards that the moment they see desert terrain, start crying and discing the map and it's maker. Some comments by the author: "You can squeeze a tank only the half of the holes, but I will use my brute force technique to solve this... and that map was snowcrash, hehe little hypnotizing design, but its ok in in-game" Some comments by the BroodWarMaps.net crowd: "optical suicide^^" "5 o'clocks gas is too far away - @11 needs only 3 drones in gas for mining and @5 needs 4, secondly, one mineral block of the min only expansions are misplaced - the drones are therefore so confused that they refuse to start working" "awkward formations = horrible wandering and dumb worker ai, an easy fix. Just make a better formation. The formation in my Muse works well " As you can see it is a hard crowd, but in general they have learned to add and help. Sometime they can be viscous too. A map maker may have many motivating reasons to make maps: stress relief, fame, the dream to achieve the one perfect map or get a map into a pro-league, a simple aesthetic flair etc.. The motives may vary, but one thing is for sure, they thrive with our constructive criticism and if we want to keep them making great maps, everyone should throw in a kind word, or a few words of encouragement, every now and then!
