Fnatic Hellokitty - The Blunt One

In eSports, viewers value different things at different points in time. However, honesty has been a consistent value that the community has constantly praised throughout time. When players like Ret made appearances on Meta, people cheered as real, honest opinions surfaced. For those who enjoyed hearing the unfiltered thoughts of a great player in the scene, Zifeng "Hellokitty" Wang is going to be a big favorite.

Hellokitty is not going to sugarcoat things for you. Whatever he says to you over the veil of protection that is the internet, he would happily say to your face in person. However, don't make the mistake of thinking he's some jerk who will be rude to you for no reason. In fact, Hellokitty is actually an incredibly cool and funny guy. If his photo didn't sell you enough, his choice in gamertag names should convince you of his humor. Maybe one day I will be able to release some of the alternative photos he provided me with for the image you see above.

It's always an inspiring spectacle when someone's personality shines through in their play. It's what makes them unique from everyone else. Their style is their own, and it is clear why they play as they do because it is who they are at a fundamental level. Hellokitty is an honest guy who may come across as blunt at times, but he does not intend to lie to you about his true feelings. If you are unable to hold his cheese, why should he waste time playing you in a macro game? Hellokitty's play is a zero bullshit style that plays to his strenght in micro and early game agression. He can play a macro game, but an unfortunate side effect of his playstyle and strength in the early game may lead himself to practicing the late game less than others. His playstyle has earned himself a reputation as a cheeser, so we'll have to see how his games go and if he takes this as an opportunity to show us his capabilities in the late game.

In respect to his fame, Hellokitty may very well be one of the most well known names amongst all the players in the invitational. Hailing from team Fnatic, an incredibly well established team, and having been one of the original invites for WCS America's Premiere league, Hellokitty has had a chance in the spotlight. By some unfortunate brackets, Hellokitty had to face top players such as Taeja, XY, HwangSin, Heart and Ryung and was eventually knocked out of WCS. While his time in the spotlight was somewhat short lived, he is far from done reaching for the top. I think it's only fair to expect him to be reaching for another chance to shine one more time.

His Group

You can't help but feel Hellokitty is happy with his first opponent. Xtraterrestrials Jowj is a definite underdog in the series that has expressed some discomfort with holding off early game aggression. Hellokitty could very well have a field day if that's the case. After that, Hellokitty will either face JonSnow or Bones. JonSnow would be a rough challenge considering how strong of a Zerg he's been lately, but Bones could be an even tougher one if the Protoss player from ROOT SEED can make it past the early game. Hellokitty is almost certainly going to have an opportunity to showcase his skill early game aggression and micro, but we'll have to wait and see how he prepares for the late game.

Honesty is the best policy. And honestly, you're going down.

Not trying to be an ass here, but is there a person relevant in the groups you should have heard of besides JonSnow and hellokitty? I wouldn't say I am not knowledgeable about the scene, but really those guys .... I have no clue who they are.
Besides that, the information about the players in the main tournament thread are interviews which are nice, but all of them are like 30 minutes plus... which is way too much of an introduction.

Besides that, I believe this is advertising and has no place here as there already is a thread for the main tournament.

Isn't that the point of this tournament? To get people that are really not known in NA to play in a decent tournament and get them known?

I would say part of the point is that a lot of people haven't heard of some of these players, but they're still relavent. For example, SaroVati is a great example of a player that, when I've spoken with other GM players, comes up as a great .

The interviews that are there are 30 minutes or more, yea. If I had more time, I would be releasing 1-2 minute videos for each player, but unfortunately I just don't have the time to make them. =[ That's why I'm hoping the write-ups will be a good alternative .

As for this thread being advertising. In a way, I suppose it is but the idea is that I'm trying to emulate some of the articles that WaxAngel writes for various tournaments & as he did for blizzcon(though with a lot less skill). I guess I'm just the one writing the actual posts because the concept is to highlight up and coming NA players that are not yet that well known...so who else is going to write about them? I just happened to be the guy because I've spent 8 weeks getting to know them and done interviews with them, etc.

Hope that makes sense. Yea, it is sorta advertising the tournament, but the intention is to create a write-up about the player so that people know more about these talented players who have the potential to be something greater.

Before you saw any player play or heard of them they had to make a name for themselves, right? This is what this tournament is for, not for people like Taeja and Dear to play in. Try not to be so negative towards a good thing, this tournament isn't doing anything but helping. Plus, you should know some of these players, like SaroVati. I think he is a top 3 Protoss on NA behind Minigun and maybe Astrea..but that could just be me.

You pretty much won't know them unless you actively play NA ladder (although some of these guys arn't even top mmr) but I'd say giving them more exposure is one of the points of hosting this tournament.
