Hi TL,
I was reading my local newspaper SMH, Sydney Morning Herald, and stumbled on this article on Boxer and e-sports. I did a search and couldn't find a topic so here you go:
link: "joystick jocks
It doesn't say anything new, unfortunately, pretty much everything in it is old for most of us TLers I'd imagine. Also, this isn't the first time a media site has done something on e-sports. However, the good thing is that e-sports is getting more and more mainstream exposure, SMH being one of the major Australian newspapers/sites.
It says, 'Telegraph, London' at the bottom, but I could not find the same article on telegraph.co.uk, so I don't know if it is a repost, or it is a telegraph journalist doing some work for SMH on the side or whatever.
Read if you have time?

Haha, Moonglade looks so massive compared to Major in that picture!

Oh well. I think you misread that part. It's GameSpot which is owned by CBS from what I understand.

That's not Major, that's Yang. A protoss from Perth who now resides in melbourne (I think?). He doesn't play anymore which I think is a shame, I really miss his sense of humour.
I think it's interesting the article focused on Boxer and Yellow, both of who have been retired from Broodwar for years and that it doesn't mention that there's a Starcraft 2 now. I also think it's a bit of a shame that apart from two pictures there's absolutely no mention of the Australian competitive scene, humble as it is.

Seems strange the website uses pounds in the currency yet still seems to be speaking from the perspective for Australians— Australians use AUD only don't they?
The other thing I thought was strange was the way they described Boxer entering and winning a game. I don't follow the pro esports news much so maybe I missed it, but the scenario described sounds a bit odd. I can't help but picture a Brood War scenario in my mind (or at least a quite old SC2 one).
