More StarCraft, Less Serious - a bronze to diamond team league
The Chobo Team League is looking forward to its fourth season, commencing in a few weeks. If you would like to join, then please head over to ChoboTeamLeague.enjin.com and submit an application at our Register page.
Reddit thread here.
What's it all about?
Teams will clash in a pro-league style format: gold vs gold, platinum vs platinum, etc.
We are aiming for a short, sharp, punchy season of around 6 weeks, with 2 weeks of playoffs. The exact format and duration will depend on sign-ups.
The map pool will be based on ladder maps.
Matches will be played on the Americas server, unless agreed otherwise by both platers.
Who?
Anyone who is currently placed somewhere in bronze to diamond on the Americas HotS ladder. (Folks who were grandmaster a few seasons back may be looked upon suspiciously...no smurfs please.)
We are looking for 'regulars' who want to play most weeks, as well as 'reserves' who want to get their feet wet or cannot commit to playing every week.
When?
Sign-ups are open until Sunday 2nd June. We will sort out the teams, make a match schedule, and get the season started asap - maybe one or two more weeks.
Why?
Battle net can be lonely, and ladder points can only take you so far in life.
The Chobo Team League is a fun, social StarCraft II team league. You can talk strategy and play practice matches with your team; you can banter with opponents about the results; and you can be part of our community.
I still don't understand
Check out our Rules and FAQs over at ChoboTeamLeague.enjin.com for more info, or ask a question in this thread.
See you soon!

CTL is really fun! Definitely check it out if you're looking for friends/practice partners, and a little more competitive atmosphere.

these guys are good
check it out

Awesome to see the 4th season start up! :D Good luck to all the teams that play this time around!
|
I've played in the league before. If you have even moderate interest in the league, I highly recommend you apply. The players are friendly, the teams are amiable, and the matches are fun.
|
CTL is amazing!!!
If you want a ProLeague or GSTL matches with a team like brotherhood, this is the place.
In addition to playing team matches, teams have also participated in HOTS all-star tournaments; DOTA; coaching; replay analysis; custom games; and 2v2, 3v3, & 4v4.
If you have questions about the league, feel free to ask.
GL HF!!!!!! ^^

I see in the FAQ that teams are assigned from a spreadsheet... Is it possible for a group of friends to apply as a whole team?
|
It all depends on the number of people and their ranks.
How many people are you thinking and what ranks? Also, what race? T, Z, or P?
If you have, for example, four people of bronze, silver, gold, and platinum rank, we can probably make an accommodation.
Let me know. I might be able to help you and your friends out.

I'm not sure about the numbers yet, but it would be players from the Clarity Gaming "Community Team". There are more than 100 members - although many are Masters - so I don't think it will be too hard to get a bunch of each race/league.
It's late and not many people are on Skype at the moment but I'll see if there is a great deal of interest.
edit: Also, just to be clear, is Diamond involved in this?
|
Yes, its a bronze through diamond league
Just wondering, how active is the Clarity Gaming Community Team? Does clarity have clan wars, team matches, etc?
Will joining the CTL hinder your members to Clarity?

Well, the community team just formed within the last week. There's a Masters level Community Team that I think is going to be involved in clan wars, but below that there are other sections (Diamond/Plat, Gold-Silver, Bronze I think) where we hang out, talk, and practice. We're just getting started so nothing substantial has happened yet, but in the coming weeks there will be in-team tournaments. I don't think joining CTL will be much of a hindrance to most of us though.
So far I have 3 Plat (myself Zerg, Protoss, Protoss) and 1 Diamond (Terran) interested, and I'm sure many more will want to join tomorrow once people are awake.

My only concern is the commitment required for both teams/league. Just to let you know, teams(there could be from 6 to 10+ different teams) in the CTL typically have weekly practices and matches. Also, some team may require that you adopt the team's tag.
Please be sure that you and your friends can be 100% committed to both teams.
Apart from those tidbits, you and your friends are welcome. Please message me when you have an estimation on the number of people. THX

OK, thanks for the info. I was envisioning a scenario where we would be able to field a full team from Clarity Gaming Community, so our practices and such would simply be a boost to what we already do rather than creating a separate commitment. Also, the in-team tournaments that will be hosted within Clarity are totally voluntary.
Looking at the Team Rosters on the website, I see that the biggest team is "Team Unrivaled" with 18 players while the smallest team has 9 players. I think it's pretty realistic that we'll get somewhere between 12-24 players interested from across the 5 leagues. Like I mentioned earlier, the Community Team as a whole has more than 100 people, so it's likely that we'll be able to fill a "full" team for CTL.
I'll post back here when I have more info on players.

Sweet League right here I say anyone who wants to join will love it and get soooooooo much better at the game I'm telling you.
|
I honestly think anyone in the bronze-diamond leagues should definitely join us!
|
Really hoping that more people join this!
|
I had a lot of fun playing in the first season, you guys should give it a try!
|
We're really looking for Diamond players still (but everyone Bronze-Diamond is still welcome to join). Get on it!
|
Since the league is looking for more players, I highly suggest anyone who is on Twitter to tweet at community figures and politely ask them to RT that @ChoboTeamLeague is recruiting bronze-diamond players for it's 4th season.
|
Can I join with my off race? I am a Masters player in America with Protoss, but I am definitely far from it with Zerg and I'm Gold in Europe and Korea with it. Would it be possible to join and commit to just use Zerg in my matches? This looks really fun and I'd love to try it out.
