Hey-

I'll keep this short and sweet. I'm looking into getting a new keyboard as my Tarantula I bought off a friend seems to be dying. I know the Blackwidow is a great choice, but I'm wondering if the Lycosa still has the same issues I've read about while researching different keyboards, i.e. keys stopping functioning, touchpad going crazy, etc. I read somewhere that this is a software issue, so I'm also wondering if anyone has any more information on that.

Thanks very much,
Narwhal

Yes there's still some trouble if you use their software that comes with it.

Damn, that's frustrating. Is the touchpad affected as well as the macro keys?

Why would you want to know information about the Lycosa when the Black Widow destroys it in performance?

Get the black widow.

Thanks guys. Problem with the blackwidow is that the backlit version is almost $60 more, but I guess I'll start saving.

Same here, anything from razer that is not a mouse sucks.

Not true, their mousepads are perfectly fine. They can make a hell of a flat piece of plastic.

Save the money, you don't need backlighting.

I had a Lycosa then I bought a filco majestouch.
Honeslty, Lycosa feels worse than dell cheap keyboards when you get used to a mechanical.
Don't waste money on it.
Get a filco, steelseries g6v2 or something with cherry switches. Look for the mechanical keyboard threads here. Don't get razer, it is a waste of money and time.

I've had a Lycosa for about 2 years, been using the razer program that came with it and had no problem.

Oh and I like that its pretty easy to clean compared to some keyboards

I just switched to a Razer Black Widow. I like it a lot.
Despite their generally low quality items, this seems to pull it off.

Sorry, but I've had a diamondback 3G, lycosa and megalodon from Razer. Mouse died after only 1½ year, keyboard died a little earlier, so I had it sent back just to find out the replaced keyboard were suffering from similar malfunctions, and I had a crazy amount of trouble with the headset until a proper driver hotfix came - 4-5 months later.

I gotta be honest - You'll probably need a bunch of patience, if you want Razer gear, but they seem to have learned from all those problem.

Black Widow is problemfree so far.

I just re-read your post and it was more focused on the Lycosa, so I'll keep it short;

At least they remade the Lycosa-box since the last 2 years, but I sold the new (third) Lycosa I received, and I told him, that if he encountered any issues he should call me.

No issues so far. Third month and counting. So I believe they've fixed the issue.

Get something with cherry switches. The Blackwidow is marketed as a "gaming keyboard" but doesn't even have N-Key rollover.

I've had a Lycosa since it came out and I've had no issues at all with anything. Very awesome keyboard, especially if you like the flat key style and the finish of the keys.

I´ve had Lycosa for a month now and it´s working just fine. Only problem is that touchpad makes my windows media player go crazy sometimes, like opens it without reason and changes song every 10 seconds but that happens like once in a week.

Welcome to the software hell. Uninstall WMP or the Razer software. One of em has to go, in my experience. Or rename WMP.exe. Mind you, that folder is pretty hard to mess with.
