So, I'm trying again now that I've gotten some information from a very kind mod.
I've been watching The Matrix trilogy today and have been wondering what people think happened in the movie.
Do you think the Machines won? Why?
Do you think the humans won? Why?
I think the Machines won personally. They killed The One, the Matrix still exists and Zion still exists so it seems like everything's reset to go another round to get rid of the anomaly (The One) when it comes around again.
I think the story's premise is that human emotion is our weakness because he is put into the position to choose between what is going to destroy the Machines for good and his love; he chooses his love. The love was set up by the Machines (prophesied by the Oracle -- a Machine) so that it would force this decision. Even Trinity was guided by the Machines because it was prophesied to her that she would fall in love with The One. It's almost like a game of chess where you force your opponent to make moves he didn't want to.
Since the prophesy of The One is completely brought around by the Machines, it allows us (humans) to find him so the Machines do not even need to look for him, yet they have agents look for him? Why? Because they kill The One (like the Oracle said, "Maybe you're just waiting for your next life.") and he causes Agent Smith to become a virus-like entity which becomes important later, forcing Neo's hand and ultimately causing his death.
Why do the Machines have humans look for The One? I think it's because Neo is not The One (as the Oracle stated to him on their first meeting). He has the potential to be The One, but requires certain circumstances to bring about the anomaly. Once he becomes The One, however, he becomes nearly impossible to destroy. So the Machines find themselves in a catch 22 situation where in order to get rid of the anomaly, they need to activate the anomaly which then prevents the anomaly from being easily removed. This requires the setup happening prior to Neo becoming The One.
I was expecting a matrix within a matrix thing to happen (ie Zion and everything else is just another level in the matrix). was disappointed when this didn't happen
The One is The One, nobody won. All stays the same. That's what I think.

I thought that too. It didn't happen, but it doesn't mean it isn't true. A human emitting an EMP in the real world...
The matrix got rebooted or something, Neo saves Zion, human race continues to survive and blah blah... But the thing at the end is that the Oracle and the Architect agrees to free anyone who wishes to be freed from the Matrix...
So the end of the movie sounds like a happy ending (Kinda o.o)... Not really bringing any side (Humans and machines) down.
But personally, I want the humans to win because... well they are Terrans. If they die, Terrans are no more, which only gives Starcraft Protoss and Zerg as its main races which Blizzard will rename the game, Alien vs Predator as the result...
Yeah humans should win. If humans don't win, why the hell did Neo, my favourite character die for?! Seriously, killing Trinity and Neo like that... T.T Omg hope this doesn't spoil anyone for you.... Heck, I'm too lazy to put the spoiler tag on it.
If you have not seen the Matrix, you really need to get out more.
I think the responses were pretty clear in the last three threads.
The humans won this battle because it gives them the potential to be stronger then before and gives the machines less control over humans (architect agreeing to let people out of "the matrix").
Also I don't think many people care since it's an old movie and the first one of the trilogy was the only great one anyway.
the humans won because of sloppy writing and a deux ex machina. 2&3 really ruined the entire mythology for me and I have no doubt that 1 would've been seen as a real classic if 2 and 3 hadn't been made.
btw, it helps to watch the animatrix prequel videos. Shows how the machines began and why the war started and ultimately why they hold a grudge on humans.
The Oracle was set up by the Machine to 'stablize' the Matrix. If you recall in the second movie, the Architect said that there were other Matrix versions before this one, where each one was flawed. By adding the Oracle into the matrix, it gives the humans inside the Matrix a 'choice' to disconnect themselves voluntarily. The Oracle's job is then to guide The One to the architect, where he can destroy Zion, and start rebuilding Zion over with the 23 selected people from the Matrix. This ensures that the machines can rule over the humans over again for another cycle.
This also explains what Morpheus said when he explained about how the original "The One" freed the first of the rebels. That was actually the previous 'round' of the matrix being restarted, after the last 'One' paired with the architect and destroyed Zion (and took the 23 people from the matrix with him to rebuild Zion) The One is then to die, and the same prophesy is to be spread, so the cycle can continue once again.
So you see, everything WAS planned by the machines. However, the Oracle tried to break this cycle, and instead caused the imbalance of the Matrix, giving rise to both Neo and Smith. Oracle guided Neo to defile the Architect's choice of control, instead of what the previous Neo's did by 'restarting' the Matrix. The Oracle did this because she wants to see if humans can co-exist with machines, instead of the machines ruling over the humans for all eternity.
I love the Matrix, but the story is confusing as heck. And in case you want to see what happens after the trilogy, there's always the Matrix MMORPG, which continues the story. (just go google the story yourself)
I'm sorry, what's matrix reloaded?? never heard of it.. as far as I know there is the matrix, which i love... it's good thing they never made a sequel... la la la.

Not for much longer.
But really, how do we know that anything was different this time from the last? Perhaps The One needs to believe it is different this time so he does not attempt to break the cycle which makes the most sense to me.
What is this OP sounding like a hardcore Matrix fan but does not display the understanding of a Matrix fan? Is OP 14 years old? Pay the fucking attention in the movies, OP!
It is not Smith who forced Neo's hand but the Sentinels eventually finding Zion which did it. Neo made a deal with the machines. There really is no spoon.
