Haha, yeah. Best ever was when my daughter woke up and I asked for a 1 min pause to comfort her and give her to my wife. ----- me: "1 min, baby crying" I pause he unpauses immediately me: "wtf man?" me: "1 min" I pause again he immediately unpauses again him: "I don't have time" me: "well screw you then" I box all my units, drones, mutas, everything, a-move to his base and go afk to tend to my daughter When I come back I had a victory sign on my screen, checked the message log him: "fuck you noob" I actually spent like 2-3 minutes tending to her since I thought I'd lose anyway.

I love it!

No one should ever immediately unpause because someone needed a brief AFK. I understand the whole premise that one should set aside time to play when they start playing but unexpected things can always happen. Respectable and mannered players would understand this and allow a 2-5 minute AFK once in a while if its really needed. I'd much rather have a fair and even match then get wins. But I guess there lies the problems - most average players want to win at any cost, and don't care about actually getting better or having skillful matches.

I mistook the pause screen for the victory screen once too. :O

I will unpause if they don't ask or let me know first. Otherwise I will oblige, but only for so long. :/

Agreed, people i think just dont understand that there is a world outside the video game they are playing so all they care or need in their tiny brians is that feeling of YES I OWNED THE AFK NOOB!! ... lol its hilarious sadly ive lost games actually quite a few mostly team games where some one pauses cus they have to do somthing then the other team eats thrue all our pauses just to start the game cus they are scared...I love utterly smashing some one when they get a few min headstart on tech/army/econ on me i laugh as they call me a noob while they die.

Thats funny shit right there. Having a child myself, I have had to pause on several occasions, never had anyone do that to me though.....as you may have been able to tell from my first post, i wasn't aware that you could unpause when the enemy had initiated it... i will remember that for when someone pauses without saying anything and then doesn't come back for 10 mins.... though I am still sure i will feel like i "stole" the game....
@chill.... dude, your ban hammer deserves a knighthood soley for that one ban.

I seem to be one of the bad guys. When my opponent pauses I immediately write "?". Then I wait for ~15sec, if I dont see anything from my opponent I just unpause. If he writes something like "1min getting the door" I'll wait. It also depends on when the opponent pauses. If it's in after 20min I have no problem giving him 3-5min (5min is max though). But I had an opponent who paused after 5sec and said "Gotta fetch something to drink". I unpaused immediately.
|
Unpausing an announced pause in the first 2 minutes of the game is complete BM, there's no excuse. If its unannounced, it could go either way depending on who you ask. Yeah, "getting a drink" isn't exactly critical, but sometimes you queue up and when you get used to 50 sec queue times, but immediately get a game, you have to sit back down and say "brb drink" since being afk when the game starts is much worse.
|
Or you could just get a drink then queue.
The people who really piss me of are the ones who pause, say something like "sorry brb" so I type "tell me when you're about to unpause" and do they bother? No of course not that would be gm.
