Should I do an injustice league write up as a milestone post?

I think his first finals against MC was too good to put him on. He was more like an anti-hero mercenary who did whatever he had to to get money.

any other antihero mercenaries? could make that a subsection of players hired by the league

I'd like to nominate ensnare and nexliveforever for retired. Ensnare pissed everyone off by not being code S worthy but staying in forever and nexliveforever's sole accomplishment after season 1 was kicking leenock out of code S and going "lol cya nerds military time"

Ensnare, Virus, and Bbyong are team "how are they in code s every fucking season"

also Liveforever's accomplishment of letting Polt back into Code S when everyone hated Polt

Well, we had that Myungsik guy. He didn't do well. Kespa's reputation has taken a hit after MLG and IEM now, now that there's been 2 tournaments where the non-elite Kespa players disappointed.

Maybe KeSPA players are better in tournaments that give you a lot of time to prepare for your opponents (SPL, WCS KR) when compared to your typical weekend marathon tournament (almost every non-WCS foreign tournament)?

Then again, look at WCG Korea Qualifiers: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/World_Cyber_Games_2013/Qualifiers/Korea

5 GSTL vs 11 SPL.

Myungsik was there who smashed online qualifiers, including taking a game off of Innovation, then proceeded to get last place in his group and was the only Korean to drop a Bo3 to a foreigner. Foreigner PvP triumphs over Kespa again.

Anti-hero mercs:
Puma - 1/1/1 any toss in 2011-2012.
Heart - 1/1/1 Huk.
Nakseo - All-killing EG (And by all kill i mean he is 20-3 against the entire team a feat that KT took 6 rounds to accomplish) and getting 3rd at DH Stockholm where he said the tourney was easier than Code B.

I think the biggest factor is the fact that EGTL are the only teams that are sending players en masse to nearly every single major tournament. They're bound to get some good results.

Same with Quantic and Hyun, but with only 1 player, there's a lot more variance. For example, if SKT were to send PartinG, Rain, Fantasy and soO to nearly every single tournament, SKT would also be raking in the trophies.

EG ruined the career of such a promising player, I mean look at all the great shit he did on TSL.

Like qualify for code A... and 3 kill ogs?

Playhem!

I actually feel it is about time that he gets a decent performance and some attention. He was quite a good player on TSL and did really well online, and was one of the few Koreans streaming fairly regularly. However this was just about the time Hyun started getting a lot of attention with his fight club success and his BW legacy. Revival performed basically at Hyun's level in all but IPL fightclub, yet never got any recognition. After Hyun went on a tear and surpassed Revival by a good margin, but that doesn't change the fact that for several months they were basically equal and Revival didn't get attention.

On EG-TL he has been a decent player, but when you are a zerg on a team with JD, then people tend to overlook you. Revival is not a multiple times GSL winner and shouldn't be treated as such, but he deserves more attention and recognition than he has gotten. I really hope this can be a breakout performance from him and people will start to pay attention to him. He has a solid playstyle and when he knocks out a player in a tournament people shouldn't feel bad for the eliminated player, they should celebrate getting to see more Revival.

Maybe also less experience with travel? I bet these Kespa guys rarely travel outside of Korea to compete, while players like MC, HerO, Hyun, etc are veterans at worldwide tournaments.

Judging by how HerO has played this tournament. I would be very - very scared as Revival. It would be an incredible snipe if he won.

Players still have to post results, although you do have a point. HerO and Jaedong have outperformed a hell of a lot of notable Premier WCS Koreans at tournaments.

I mean it might just be coming into a comfort zone, but HerO now compared to HerO when the transition first occurred is something of a transformation. Oz has returned from the depths, all is good in my world.

For some reason, Korean Protoss do very well in qualifiers, even non Kespa like San. Maybe Protoss has advantage in no prep tournaments like these qualifiers.

Also, it is 5 v 10 since PartinG was seeded in as WCG champ.

San is the qualifying bonjwa, sure he's incredibly mediocre in nearly every tournament but by god if you put him in a qualifier it's gg train time.

I heard azubu are practicing hypnosis to trick san into thinking every match is a qualifier.

unfortunately he apparently took some time away from his qualifier bonjwa status at WCG losing in the first round but he got those WCS EU and ASUS ROG qualifier spots so it was probably a well earned break

I think it's still more hyped than IEM Singapore even with Grubby in the finals for that one. I don't think many people even remember/known Sting won an IEM
