I've enjoyed Sjow's play for awhile now, but I too have been surprised by his seeming lack of hotkey use. Yes, he hotkeys his buildings, but he is generally slow to control group his units. And watching his stream today, I've never seen him use more than 2 hotkeys for units.
I really enjoy watching Hashe's stream also and he favors the boxing approach also.
This makes me reevaluate why I'm spending so much time trying to develop better unit control mico with hotkeys. Both Sjow and Hashe show a similar patience-and a calm under fire. I think that the precision of their mechanics in conjunction with strategy must be winning them games.

He's obviously really good even with such low APM, but I don't think it's possible to deny that he would be even better with faster play and multitasking. For instance, his macro slips a lot in many situations. It's not just in the late-game (where he's been hovering between 1000-2000 in several games, which is obviously a huge problem), even in the midgame I've seen the minerals go up quihte a bit (and having units queued) in a completely unnecessary way, often while he's busy microing. The builds he's going for would be so much cleaner and efficient if he worked on that. I also don't like the lack of scouting and general map awareness he seems to have a lot of times. =/ Considering how good he appearantly is already, he would be an absolute monster if he fixed his weaknesses.
Anyways, awesome stream! ^__^

Great stream Sjow. Your micro is amazing man. When can we get a replay pack? <3

i like your stream! keep it up
|
im think this is the stream i learned most from in the shortest possible time so nice to see him go up to the 1000 overmins and still pwning good ppl due to superior decision making
|
He plays very calm and collected. Sort of reminds me of a Uniden gone pro.

Good God you are fast. You may want to uninstall the ask toolbar in firefox. That stuff will mess up//slow down your browser. From firefox, Tools>Addons>Uninstall Ask Toolbar.
EDIT: I saw Nani do bad things to you with forcefield. Granted that I'm a noob, but please shoot an EMP at his face already!
EDIT2: That came off a little harsh. I really like your channel and thank you for streaming. I'm learning a lot.

Awesome, thank you for streaming your games
|
I like the low APM
and the hip hop
keep streaming!

thoroughly enjoying his stream, his ingame intelligence is excellent and he manages to stay cool under pressure.
|
love the stream, what is that song 'pure columbian cocaine' with johnny depp samples called??
|
What was that hardstyle song that played when sjow time was at 1:25!!!!!!! :c or the one before this current one?
|
I like SjoW's stream it's great. Very nice and talented player
|
Wow, Sjow even plays Z like a boss. Well played, very interesting matches between you and that Eizcaj dude. Hope you win the bo5 and he gives you the 50 Euros!
Edit: OK I've watched up to g4 now and that guy was just sad all-inning twice in a row. He went banshee every game though, so why no spore towers?
|
LOL That bo5 reverse match was hilarious.
Sjow was asking for a Zerg player to play a Bo5 reverse match (sjow plays Z, Z player plays T), with a 50 euro bet attached. Some guy responds and says "Sure I'll take your money"
Sjow plays an amazingly good defensive/reactive/macro zerg. I was super jealous.
The guy playing terran just does Marine/SCV rushes (note: not all of them were allins), and wins the BO5 on the last 3 maps.
Comedy gold.

He just owned the shit out of Darkforce in a 15minutes game where he did not use scan once and no scv of his ever set food on Darkforce's side of the map. And still while I was watching his FPview, it made so much sense, without seeing anything it was kinda obvious what Darkforce was doing from just the few skirmishes that happened. This really is an highly interesting stream.

I'm not sure if it's the same game, but I've watched like 4 games of him vs Darkforce right now... the Banshees do the scouting job quite well so obviously he wouldn't really need to scan or anything like that.

Yeah he made banshees and killed 2(?)queens with them while losing one I think. And in the beginning he exchanged like 2 marines against 2drones+2lings at Zergs natural. Nothing game-breaking.
Don't read too much into my post, all I wanted to say is that he gets away with barely using classic scouting patterns. That the banshee harass + 2early marines plus constant poking at the watch-towers gives him kinda enough information about his opponent is just interesting to me. That's so many minerals in mules and SCVs, which are mining and not running around the map and die.

watched for a while today, saw Sjow send the traditional SCV scout, but maybe because he was playing Nerchio (random)
