After nearly 6 months off I'm happy to announce SC2 action is finally back in DC at a new location! Monster PC. (Like their facebook page here) This new location features 50+ pc's in a brand new LAN center recently opened just last month!
After some coordination with the LAN center I'm going to be hosting the first event in a couple weeks, if it's a success it's quite likely this will become a regular thing each month. Please note the event time will go from 11AM-6PM, if the event is not concluded at 6PM anyone not still competing in the tournament will have to get off PC's for the LAN center regular customers. This is a busy lan center and unfortunately we don't have exclusive access to the place the ENTIRE day.
What Starcraft 2 LAN tournament! Open to all players of any league, $20 entrance fee covers LAN center costs as well as tournament entry. Even if you don't plan on coming to compete feel free to come out and meet other SC2 players in the area!

Prizes Depends on number of signups. Should be around $500-700 in total split between top 4 finishers.
Format/Rules if 32 or fewer signups -> group stages into a single elimination bracket. if 32-48 signups -> double elimination bracket. Map pool:

Saturday morning we shouldn't have to worry too much about that. There's plenty of parking in the lot next to the Popeyes always if somehow parking is an issue.

Maka, the LAN center looks a little small (I think its a little bit smaller than Cybergrounds?), so spectating / casting locally MIGHT be a little tough. I haven't actually spent a lot of time at the LAN center - so I can't say 100% for certain.

If our LAN center weren't new and it was bigger, we'd do the dual tournament I usually run (Open and a Diamond+under tournament) but we probably dont have the logistics for it this particular go around.

waaah one of first weekends in ~2 months i had something planned v.v the last one was the first DC LAN i heard about, but couldn't make it to that either (even though i would've only been participating in diamond & below). anyway, just putting it out there that there's more interest/demand for future (and scrub diamond) tourneys!

It GENERALLY is top2 advance, randomized groups, into a SE bracket.
This usually takes us all day.
The only time it is not this way is if we have a buttfuckton of no-shows (which has happened)

We've had pretty minimal complaints about maps in the past (dat jungle basin) and it's just easier on us to use a pre-determined map pool. Blame MLG if you think the map pool is shitty, not us, haha.
Well I just found out that myself and kobain arent going to be able to make it out on saturday so If you could remove us from the tournament that would be nice
i haven't replyed because im unsure of what is going to be happening on saturday. I really want to go, i don't think i have missed a single major lan, i think i missed one really small one, however i have something that i have to do on saturday that i have been putting off for months and i finally have run out of time. Im hoping that i will be able to get that done early in the morning and still be able to come but i have no idea so i wouldn't count me in yet. I'm going to try to at least come and catch the later rounds and the finals and dinner if i get held up all morning. T.t we will see

It's not a BYOC, the LAN Center has its own computers (as well as mice/keyboards/headphones but you should bring your own.)
don't forget this is tomorrow guys! please arrive around 11am, we have to get started pretty promptly depending on how full the place is.
Also we will be doing group stage into a single elimination ro16 bracket. tlpd'd guys will be separated as best as possible, the rest will be randomized. If you are in tlpd as another name and I don't have you linked in the player list let me know.

Hey guys, just wanted to say that this LAN was a ton of fun. Thanks so much to Luckyfool and the other admins (whos names I didn't catch) for hosting/being good sports about the whole thing. This was quite a trip for me, but....hopefully I can make it to the next one too!

Just wanted to add my thanks to the admins as well. It was my first LAN and it was tons of fun. If this becomes a monthly thing I'll definitely keep my schedule open for each one.
Thanks for coming out everyone, all in all this LAN went extremely smoothly, couple small problems but nothing really huge. The LAN center was extremely easy to work with, all the staff + owner are very helpful and willing to work with us in the future.
I have to talk to the owner about the timing of the next one, there are LoL tournaments I can't conflict with and also need to make sure we keep the LAN center happy in terms of opening space on pcs when their regular customers come in. I apologize to some people if you got kicked off a PC "early" or whatever, I told the owner we would have about 32 people in the tournament but actually we had more than. (35players + a few extra open pcs for admin work and whatever else) our main time frame in the future will probably be around 10am-5pm or so. by 5-6pm anyone not still playing in the tournament could be asked to get off.

In terms of when the next one will happen, right now it'll either be a week or two before MLG Raleigh or a week or two after. Will post on TL of course when I have the exact date.
also yes I took one video yesterday, in the future I'll try to take more + pics but I'm usually so busy hardly have time to do much in terms of taking pictures/video.
