Hi everyone,
This thread is for feedback/feature requests on the updated version of the Team Liquid Streams Google Chrome Extension.
Download the new extension here.
If you are using the old extension you will need to right-click one of the icons, and either disable or uninstall the old one.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions for improving it, or any bugs you may find.
Many thanks to xocekim for providing the framework that was used to make this improved extension.
The extension also now lists streams by Username and not by owner, matching the appearance here.
Additionally, there is now an option screen to manually edit your favorites and hide columns you may not want/need.
Other changes from xocekim's version include:
Changed:
Sorting by featured now sorts all non-featured by viewers.
Fixed sort method so that Xfire streams that don't report viewer count also get sorted.
Added:
Type column and sorting by it.
Sorting by Favorites column with all subsequent non-faves sorted by viewer.
Options page for manually editing favorites list and hiding columns you don't want.
Filtering by race and type are now implemented .

One manual refresh added. Refresh is Once per 10 minutes in addition to the auto refresh that occurs every 10 minutes.

Sure, if you want to contribute feel free to make suggestions and submit your proposed changes.
The extension code is un-obfuscated and can be found in your Chrome Extension directory.
*Note* The code is currently uncommented and not very pretty to look at.

I have a suggestion and a question:
It'd be awesome if we could at least search for and star the featured streamers.
My question is that is it supposed to pop up every time I open and close Chrome or just when someone I have starred comes on? Because I noticed sometimes it glitches and doesn't inform me until I open and close Chrome.

The notification should pop up when you first start Chrome OR if one of your favorites signs on.
I'll take a look to make sure that is the case.

Sounds great! Here is something I would like to see for a future version: The ability to filter stream types, i.e be able to choose to see only single type of any combination of SCII, BW, and Misc streams.

How often does this extension update or refresh?
If new livestreams go online will it update aswell?

As far as I can tell it updates once every 10 minutes if your Chrome browser is not idle. It also updates if you restart your browser.
I've left this in place as it was required of xocekim by TeamLiquid to keep bandwidth utilization down.

There is now a drop down on the main extension page for quick selection of stream type OR you can mix and match through the options page.

For example if I want to see only zerg players, to have an option about this.

As was requested on the Extension page:
One manual refresh has been added per 10 minutes.
If an auto refresh has occurred in the las 60 seconds you will not be able to Manually refresh, You will know your Refresh has occurred successfully if your button stays Grey.
When it turns Blue again you'll know 10 minutes have elapsed since your last Manual Refresh.

Suggestion:
Add a league symbol beside the user name.
Example:
[ Master Symbol Here ] Liquid`Ret
I think this should only be put in when grandmaster comes out. It seems really pointless as of now because most streamers are master level.

When a stream you've marked as a favorite begins to stream you'll get a pop-up, or if they're already streaming and you open a new chrome window you'll see a pop-up.

Idk what's up, but right now alot of streams are not on it. Itmejp, Liquid HuK and so on are not even on. It's being pretty buggy.

Yeah, something is going on in that some of the Featured and Event streams are not being marked as online and because of this the extension does not see them.
I have contacted TL staff about this issue as there is not much I can do to fix it on my end.
EDIT: There was also apparently a change in labels on Miscellaneous streams from MISC to Misc that caused them to not show up.
This has been fixed.

Once R1CH adds that info to the xml version of the streamlist I'll be able to include it. Until then it can't get picked up by the extension.
Feature added. This is an optional column setup to not be displayed by default.

Hi, Really like the extension so far, saved me so much time to find when streams are online.
Would it be possible to have an option to show a number on the button to display how many Featured or Starred streams are live - this would make it so I can tell at a glance when something's just gone live?

I'm having the same problem (no streams listed in the popup). This is only happening in windows -- on my osx and linux machine, the extension works fine.
I'm using Chrome version 15.0.874.83 beta-m on win7.

very nicely constructed interface so I can quickly see who is on and what race the players on streams I haven't seen before if none of my favorites are on. Only thing that I can see that it could use would be to have tournament/event streams somehow marked or listed at the top. Being able to sort by viewers makes it easy to see the big tournaments but the smaller ones still get lost in the shuffle. Other than that it really is a useful and sleek extension.

Hi,
Could you update the filter options (aka the "Type" drop down control). It doesn't work as intended anymore (and setting it in options also doesn't work for me - it doesn't remember the setting). Ie. if I select a specific type (say "SC2"), that type is shown fine, but "LoL" and "Dota2" streams are also.
Also, right now, the player/caster "-orb-" is streaming and is shown in the streaming list, but he does not turn up in the plug-in.

As HellGreen said 2 weeks ago the "type" filtering has stopped working since TL now allows Dota and Lol streams. It's not THAT big of a deal. but it would be nice to see some reaction also to verify that the development isn't completely dead.

humble request:
opera extension version but using speed dial thumbnail for showing streams.
if you check the code of other speed dial extensions for opera they are not that difficult, Here is reddit extension which is fairly similar in what opera version of Team Liquid Streams would do.
(To see any extension install in it opera, then search for *.oex files and you find that extension, unrar/unzip and you have the content of the extension; Here I just upload that reddit extension if you would like to have a look)
heres little something about how speedial extencions works from opera dev team.
I know its not likely that you would get some major recognition with such a small user base browser, but if you would feel like it, or know of someone who already did something for opera... it would be great.
Oh, also just a simple fact of making the original extension work on opera would be great.

So far its awesome, but something I would like to see is an option to say how long the box in the bottom right appears when Chrome is started up.

I'm not sure how difficult this might be, but it would help a lot if there was an otption to sort streams by the webiste they are streamed by.
We (me and my friends) visit a location at times that has some browsing policies and it does not allow any streams hosted on Justin.tv or Blip.tv. It'd be great if I could see which of the streams listed in the plugin are hosted on Own3d.tv and which are on Twitch/Justin.

Just upgraded my computer to OS X Mountain Lion over the weekend and now the popover won't dismiss unless the ESC button is explicitly pressed. I know this is a very minute bug, and I'm also not sure whether the bug is Chrome specific or not, but I just wanted to give you a heads up!

I see you added d3 support, but now the d3 streams appear everywhere, even if you select SC2-streams only.
Nice add-on however, saves me about 50 clicks/day :p

The update is to fix that, right now whenever TL adds a new category it will always appear.

I'd like to suggest removing pop-up notifications for favourite players that join with a different type to the types you're showing.

Fantastic extension. I'd love the ability to suspend notifications without disabling the extension. For instance, if I could just click the icon on the toolbar and select "Disable Notifications" and then "Enable Notifications".
The problem is that I use my laptop for frequent presentations (I'm a lecturer at university) and while the students really get a kick out of it when my TL notification pops up in the middle of my Game Programming class, I'd rather avoid that without having to go through the hassle of completely disabling and re-enabling the extension.

I did not create the original plugin, but as an avid user of it, I updated it to just that myself. I changed it to allow all SC2 content, or just WoL or HotS.
There's always reason to doubt random file downloads, so feel free to check the zip file. I'm already the author of an scene switcher app posted here on TL, so hopefully this clears me of any dubious intentions

The change made is on two of the plugin's html files. Just put those html files in the plugin directory - I put a readme.txt file in the zip to explain it all.
PS. I only made this quick update because I could, and I know the author is usually really quick in responding to requests, so this is probably just a temporary solution. All credit goes to the OP.

Alrighty folken. a new version is up that allows filtering the new WoL and HotS streams, and also part of oddible's request for toggling notifications has been put into place and it now in the options screen. Adding the enable and diable to the contect menu will be developed.
