Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.
For regular posters, don't quote the trolls. |

I've had really mixed experiences with straight people at gay bars that have left me a little sour. Although they almost exclusively involve girls. I've had girls get really gropey with me. I've had girls get extremely offended when they aren't given all the privileges they get at straight bars. At a gay strip club I've watched girls push the dancers off the poles and start dancing themselves. By far the worst is when girls host their bachelorette parties at a gay bar.
None of that is specific to straight girls in general, it's just that they don't understand that gay bars aren't for them. They're for gay men (we specifically have lesbian bars in my city). And it gets me pretty bent out of shape when straight girls get 95% of the bars in the city and yet they wanna come take over the 5% of bars not for them. I get that they don't wanna be creeped on all night but if you don't want your tits to be a big deal don't expect them to get you special treatment either!
As far as straight guys go, the only time it's ever gotten on my nerves is at this one dance club in Dallas that was a gay bar but has since been completely overrun with straight people. Last time I went, I hit on 3 guys and every single one of them was straight. I haven't been back.
Sidenote: It is hilarious when girls bring their boyfriends to gay bars and then get super jealous/pissed when their boyfriend is getting hit on and getting tons of attention. Those guys are always the best though cause they love having the tables turned on their girlfriend for once. I have bought a boyfriend a drink just to watch his bitch girlfriend give me death glares the whole time...schadenfreude baby.
And I don't know about Denmark but my city actually has two mixed bars specifically so that gay and straight people can hang out at the same bar. Super awesome places to pick up closeted frat guys who are totally just there for the sunday drink specials.
TL:DR You're welcome to hang out at a gay bar but you gotta understand it's not a bar designed for you. Some people don't seem to get that.

This should be acceptable. I don't mind it one bit, in fact I love it. Showing more people that gay clubs and bars aren't as weird as they are posed on the internet could only be a good thing!

I read Kratos' post on the last page and found myself sitting with a smile on my face because how good it all went. I'm not gay myself and this is one of the main reasons for my question: like most other my age (23) I like going out to drink and have a good time with my friends and girlfriends. However, I have been visiting a gay bar a couple of times with one of my friends and we have always had such a good time there. People aren't as angry or "roar"ing as other places so I really enjoy coming there to drink and dance and laugh. Quite a few times though, I have been encountered by gay guys that has been interested in me but I have in a nice manner told them that I'm not really into guys but that I am very flattered that they would take the time and effort to say hi to me. So my question is: when you guys go out to bars that are meant to be for gay people, what is your response to guys like me that just like to hang there without having the same sexual orientation? The reason I ask is that most of the guys who approached me just smile and we small talk a bit and we give each other a "have a great evening". But I have also tried guys that were really pissed that I would use "their" place without having anything to do there.
tl;dr your thoughts on straight guys hanging around gay bars?
I have no problems with straight guys hanging out in a gay bar. Just as long as they are not offended when they get hit on by a gay man (ie, me!). Because, to me, a gay bar means that I am free to hit on any guy that's in there (pretty much like how a straight guy can go into a regular bar/club and hit on girls). As much as I enjoy going to straight bars (with my straight friends) that are friendly to gay people, there's always a nagging thought at the back of my mind wondering if that cute guy is straight and open to my flirtation.
tl:dr Come on in! But don't be surprised when you get hit on :D

DOMA was just ruled unconstitutional.

Thank you for your comments everyone, it seems that I shouldn't care too much about the guys who don't think I have anything to do there so I'm very happy for that response.

Thirded. Making claims without evidence is just bad science.

I'm not gay, but I can predict the responses already. "TOO MANY CLOTHES!"
Come on marv, prove me wrong :D

A lot of these stories are incredibly inspiring. I'm not gay myself, but I respect you guys for being so upfront about your experiences and what you feel/think. It's really been a treat to go through this thread (and a good way to kill a couple hours). Also, a TL Hoodie with the pride colors would be SICK. I'd order one in a heartbeat despite not really being a fan of ordering clothes online.
