Gay StarCraft Players - Page 333

Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion. For regular posters, don't quote the trolls.

I can also assure people here there are Korean gay pro-gamers. Most people referring to my facebook probably had my old ID which I deleted about a month ago roughly, my new one is here: https://www.facebook.com/nick.decesare.7

I don't know if this has been asked already, but would there be any interest in forming an FPL group for this thread? If so, what would be some good names? All I can think of at the moment is LGBTeamLiquid, but I want it to be funny/clever. you mean, fantasy team with only gay players? ![]()

But this is a long-ass thread and I don't see a thread search function ![]() I would love to hear some thoughts from LGB-TL peoples on some of the exploration of gender/sexuality in indiegames recently. Firstly the portrayal and progression of the gay couple in Christine Love's 'don't take it personally, babe, it just ain't your story.'. Has anyone had an experience like this? From either person's perspective and within and without a school environment. I don't want to spoil the experience for people who haven't played it yet (it's free! and awesome! Play everything by Love!) ^_^. I mostly want to know how much people relate to these games and how accurate a portrayal they are of what LGBT people go through, assuming they are being experienced by someone straight. By 'these games' I am also thinking of Anna Anthropy's work as a MTF transexual. I also wanted to ask why people think there seems (to me at least) to be an under-representation of gay men and FTM transexual gamedevs developing specifically about their gender/sexuality? I realise I have only mentioned one lesbian and one MTF(+lesbian) person but they are fairly popular and productive and I have noticed other devs mentioned on their twitter feeds. I guess it is too small a sample to draw any real conclusions. Still, I would love to play some games on gay/FTM as I feel it would be a significantly different enough experience than lesbian/MTF, in terms of coming to terms with/becoming accepted. Last thing, quote from a gender studies dept. blog, + Show Spoiler + "... the hyper-masculinity of popular video games appealed to young people like Fenton who felt ostracized for not being masculin enough and repressed their feminine traits in favor of over-masculinizing themselves. Of course, Fenton and her colleagues did eventually express their real desires and did not stay overly masculine." Thanks for your time! Sorry for segueing into transexual issues and hoping I have managed to ask the questions i meant to :D xx Because I could play as a girl if I wanted (even if back then almost every protagonist was male), or even more simply, I could just use it as an escape. Back then my own life never seemed quite real anyways, and video games made a lot of things seem possible. alsp http://penny-arcade.com/report/article/video-games-showed-me-who-i-could-be-transgender-gamers-share-their-stories

France has legalized gay marriage! Well...mostly, the bill has overcome all of the difficult political hurdles so it's all but done at this point.

If not, do like we did when i first came here: We all (as in a lot of us) hop onto a single game (any mode) and those not playing go as observers. Last time, there were some nice discussions going on in the obs chat while we all enjoyed watching one of our players (forgot his name but his icon is always an infestor) do some really nice tricks. It was a nice little thing. Anyway, anyone down?
