So, basically my question is, "What would it take for me to get steraming quality that is parallel to Destiny's without any risks involved?"

Internet connection: [image loading]

I've already purchased all of the hardware, and I should have it built and ready to go on Monday, just in time for me to cast the ASL.

I'm wondering if maybe the power supply is too weak... I bought the wireless adapter that you see above because I'm on a Wireless LAN at the apartment complex where I live, and the landlord never integrated an ethernet-capable form of connecting to the internet.

Yes, I plan on overclocking this rig as well. So, I need to get as much info on that as possible. So, recapping, my main questions are:

1) Can I get streaming quality equal to that of destiny with this rig?
2) Is the Power Supply Unit good enough to hand all of this?
3) How do I overclock?
4) Is the Heatsink good enough to counterbalance the heat?

Rather perplexing question: Does it do me any good to get RAM clocked at 2400 MHz (PC3 19200) at this point in time? Will it make a difference in streaming / overclocking?

How is 750W weak for that? You're not even using SLI. A 400W PSU could handle it just fine.

Also your most pressing concern should be wireless, your connection likely won't be stable enough to stream. I'd worry a lot more about that than overclocking or anything else. You should really try to run ethernet.

You should be able to stream 1080p like fast preset very easy if your processor is overclocked.
PSU is a little overkill, you could get away with a 500-550 watt
You can get away with ddr3 1600mhz ram so you save money there, plus most ram will overclock fairly easy.
The heatsink is good, but for that price I personally would go with a closed loop system, like a antec 920 or a h80

for overclocking just google "ivy bridge overclocking guide"

Can you post speedtest.net and pingtest.net? With a questionable wireless connection you might run into issues if you are trying to run a very stable ~4mbit stream. Look for jitter and packet loss. Ideally you should have sub-5ms jitter and zero packet loss, but its probably acceptable to go with higher jitter, packet loss, not so much if you have a sizeable % of it

Ivy bridge doesnt overclock well, temperatures are insane. You would be pretty lucky to get a good 4.6ghz, but without having tested the heatsink and case + ambient conditions etc i would expect more than ~4.3 unless you really push it.

A 23% increase over stock clocks, compared to the very doable ~4.7ghz on sandy, which would be a 38% increase.

In general unless you are an overclocking expert dont expect to get massive gains, whatever you do will be pretty close to stock, unlike for example with the i7 920, which is a stock 2.66ghz CPU, but can be pushed to around 4ghz in the right cercumstances which will be more than double the difference between stock and overclocked.

Figures might be slightly off, but i think its all pretty accurate.

Yes, IIRC destiny used or still uses a first gen i7, your CPU will be stronger at stock speeds than even a high end overclock on a first gen

More than

Complicated, many guides out

Pretty much any aftermarket heatsink is adequate, but its a matter of scale. Going from 1.1vcore to 1.2 could give you as much as 20-30c temperature increases under load, while cooler A might be weaker than cooler B they will both work fine just depends on how far you are pushing the CPU vcore and overall temperature based mainly CPU voltage and heatsink but also some on cooling conditions in case/roomtemp etc. Your ceiling for maximum sustained load temperature is around 80c, so obviously 20-30 degrees is a massive problem if you need the voltage to push clocks higher.

Wasnt it Q2? I was expecting may/june

But yes, Haswell should be a massive technology leap if i understand correctly. I wasnt around to understand CPU's on any level other than very basics when SB launched and nothing before that so it will be a new experience for me (:

The launch will most likely happen in Q1 2013, but already in September Intel will be reveling more about the new processor. At IDF 2012 in San Fransicso, all eyes will be on Haswell.

Is what im going on mate

If we look beyond the technology sessions rumors has it that Haswell will be at least 10 percent faster in regular CPU applications, when compared to Ivy Bridge at the same frequency.

"Intel is expected to release CPUs based on this microarchitecture around March to June 2013 according to leaked roadmaps." According to wikipedia and ive heard q2 2013 echo'd for a very long time now

My internet connection really fluctuates from time to time, but yeah...

Also, the RAM. Is it overkill?

EDIT: Second test yielded this:

Yes RAM is overkill.

Your power supply is shit and overkill.

Bandwidth not really important at all as long as it is semi stable because you are exceeding the bitrates you are trying to target by such a large margin, go to www.pingtest.net and look for packet loss/jitter

The issue with wireless is as soon as anyone near you on the same channel starts broadcasting, your connection stability will drop severely. It may be good for the 10 seconds you do the speed test, but it needs to be good for hours on end for streaming.
