I will never understand how and why twitter became popular.. it was sort of this niche thing for a while and just exploded, it's so stupid and I still can't figure out how to read a conversation between people

I'm not surprised at all that Twitter is popular. Its like Womans Day, or E-Weekly real time. You get to catch up on celebrity gossip real time. Its also quite good for news... but Oprah 'n' co' have hijacked what little real use it had before, and now its just one big gossip medium.
