Hello. This is GSL.
We would like to thank our viewers for your continued support and sponsorship of GSL.
To repay this support and find a way to continuously provide GSL content to our fans, we are introducing a new tournament format, 'GSL CK'. Starting with this event, we plan to try various new directions to keep GSL and StarCraft II content going for the fans.
Nice with more starcraft

I've missed GSL so much.
I'm a bit confused by the new format(s). Is it showmatches, plus a tourney?
|
is GSL entirely online now or will this have live audience?
|
Wow $1,000 prize and they've only been taking thousands of $$$ on patreon for the past 9+ months with 0 communication to fans!
GSL could have been a prime example and leader in online community monetization yet they did not act for years despite fans asking for it.
|
gotta keep the patreon thing going.
maybe next GSL players can play for fame? (can keep more revenue this way )
|
Oh look, they remembered their password!
|
So they've used their crowd funding to come up with the big idea of trying to force the Broodwar crowd funded proleague with the sc2 crowd.

need a liquidpedia page NOW

Really not trying to dampen the fun on this, but...they really couldn't find a 14. korean player to even out the teams? Percival for example?

Great to see something happening with GSL—can only hope it's a warm-up before we get a proper Code S Season.
|
well something is better than nothing i guess, if they dont come up with a proper season some people would call it a scam
|
I don't see why they couldn't find another person to even out the teams.
For example, Percival and Ryung are both ranked higher than sOs on Aligulac at the moment.
The more I think about it, the more daft it becomes.

maximum inspiration from RSL

So they rake in 9-10k a month to sponsor one event with 700 $ price pool that is split seven ways making it 100 bucks per winner... Pig and Wardi give out more every week! Calling it what is is: SCAM
|
trigger said he's been paid to cast. So we can assume Ryung is also paid. And maybe all the players receive some compensation we aren't aware of.
Where did you get that 9-10k a month number from, Harris1st?

My bad, that number was RSL not GSL. Though GSL was much higher last year than the 3k/ month it is now. But if you don't do anything meaningful with the money it's only natural that it becomes less and less.
EDIT: GSL Patreon was at almost 13k/ month in 2024. Not sure how it developed over the course of 2025

GSL paying casters is normal. Even when they do it online. GSL paying players outside prizepool is not. So I would be very surprised if this were the case. I think it's important to remember GSL is a for profit business. And like others have said if they are not pocketing the money to recoup operating costs from the previous year, pay for studio and entire production team and caster salaries, it is likely that money will be moved into hosting a "normal" Code S season later.

Hello, this is GSL.
The schedule for the upcoming GSLCK #2 has been changed due to a scheduling conflict with another SC2 tournament.
Our main priority for GSLCK is to have as many pro gamers as possible participate and stream the event to enjoy it together with the viewers. To best accommodate the players, we have adjusted the event time as follows:
* New Schedule: Monday, March 16th at 5:00 PM (KST)
|
whats going on with this? tournament shows as live but streams seem to be offline.
Edit: looks live now! So for future reference anyone who wants to tune in on future days it looks like show starts 30 minutes after start time. The first 30 minutes is an unbroadcasted team draft.
