Succeeding the GTC of years past, the WTL organized by Chinese org SCBOY will feature twelve teams from all over the world in a single round robin group played out over three months, starting March 26th. The top five teams advance into the playoffs, which are held in the usual gauntlet style (meaning a first place in the group stage comes with a direct seed into grand finals etc.). Three points are awarded for a regular victory, two points for an ace victory, one point for a defeat in an ace match and zero points for a regular defeat (the usual GTC format).
Schedule
Matches are held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 19:00 (GMT+8).
Regular Season: March 26th to June 13th
Playoffs: June 26th to June 27th
Prize Pool for the Summer Season
- First place: 80,000 CNY (around 12,250 USD)
- Second place: 60,000 CNY
- Third place: 40,000 CNY
- Fourth place: 30,000 CNY
- Fifth place: 20,000 CNY
- Sixth place：16,000 CNY
- Seventh place：14,000 CNY
- Eighth place：12,000 CNY
- Ninth place: 10,000 CNY
- Tenth place: 7,000 CNY
- Eleventh place: 6,000 CNY
- Twelfth place: 5,000 CNY

Very nice. Competition for the playoff spots will be fierce. I do like that it's called summer season despite only the playoffs being in summer.

My prediction for Top 5 (in no particular order) : Kaizi, DPG, NV, Afreeca Freecs and... one team between Alpha X, GGG, TL and Shopify ^^. It's hard to predict which one in my opinion, but the race of the middle pack is probably going to be exciting .
Also, Team LP looks very weak. Are they going to sign a freelance player?

I like the system. The fact that you had to play an ace match means that your team didn't do as well as a team that didn't need to play the ace match. And it keeps things zero sum (every match gives exactly three points).

22 points is basically 7 wins or so, usually it's well enough for a playoffs spot.

Well now you need more points, because there are way more matches..
But 22 points should still be enough..
Also if a Team cant beat GP, LP AND Invictus without going to the ACE, they probably Deserve to be in dangerof losing a Playoff spot anyways
Don t get me wrong, I expect those Teams to reach an ACE match every now and then even against heavy hitters, but they ll get belastet 6-0 from time to time as well.

Well another way to look at this is - the 3:3 result is a draw so each team gets 1 point. The ACE game is to fight for another bonus point with a BO1.

For the past couple seasons (8 teams) even 3-4 (9 points) was enough for 5th. 21 points is a big enough margin that probably can slot in top 3 or 4.

Nah it s pretty accurate as it is. Exon has Special as Ace player, MaxPax as sniper and a lot of weired, unpredictable Players, they can rotate for the last spot.
Max is super dangerous lately and with the uniqe Bo2 format I expect hin to take At least one map off more often than not.
Overall the Booster is pretty similar in strength as the other mid tiers
Wich is realy exciting, because that means the race for a Top 5 playoff spot is going to be insanely close
