After a wild group stage that saw four of six Korean players eliminated while both North Americans advanced, the DreamHack Winter Season Finals heads to the playoffs.
The quarterfinals is headlined by a match between Clem and Reynor—a rematch of the DH Europe finals where Clem came out on top. Reynor had previously expressed his desire to get revenge on Clem, and his wish has been granted with a favorable bracket draw.
The playoffs also features two clashes between NA and Korea—the most surprising regions of the season finals for diametrically opposite reasons. Will Stats and TY be able to preserve the GSL's honor? Or will "powerful clowns" Astrea and Neeb out yet another pair of Koreans?

I like this bracket a lot. Can't wait!

Literally the most hype Ro8 matchups I've seen.
|
|
This is what Blizzard always hoped would happen at Blizzcon/WCS Finals.
|
NA is 2/2 and China is 1/1 group --> playoffs while EU is 3/4 and Korea is 2/6. I guess NA/China > EU > Korea now XD
Just kidding, I know that's not how it works.

My god... This is gonna be epicness on the scale we've never seen... HYPE lvl 90000000000000000

Of course TY gets exactly Neeb. Of course that's how the bracket works out, from 3 possibilities.

Stats will take it all, giving us our first protoss winner in forever.

I'm hyped up for this RO8. I'll Throw out my predictions: TY>Neeb 3-1 Serral>Time 3-1 Stats>Astrea 3-0 Reynor>Clem 3-2
TY>Serral 3-2 Reynor>Stats 3-1
TY>Reynor 4-2
It would be great to see some (somewhat) upsets. The non-korean players have really been stepping up their game this year - so its super exciting to see how the rest of the tournament will play out!
The Clem/Reynor matchup in the RO8 is the most exciting, in my opinion. There's so many ways this RO8 can go :D
|
I like all of these matchups a lot -- each player has a shot at the ro4. I think we will see some upsets. Predictions:
Neeb>TY 3-2 Serral > Time 3-1 Astrea > Stats 3-2 Clem > Reynor 3-2
Serral > Neeb 3-1 Clem > Astrea 3-0
Serral > Clem 4-1
Can't wait!

I want to see Neeb vs Serral. I think Serral is likely to win his first match so Neeb needs to pull it out vs TY. But I also hope to see TY playing at full strength, which would make it very hard on Neeb.
Clem vs Stats would also be awesome to see if Stats is playing at full strength.

Time again from all possibilities meet serral like he always did.

What's up with ESL vods. There are so many re-runs that it's pretty difficult to find the vods of the most recent games. Is there a way to split up the vods before you guys run your 15 hours re-runs?

I hate the way they run their twitch channel, it also means I can't turn on notifications for them because I'll keep getting blasted with their reruns, and I can't put them in my autohost list because they'll monopolize it with their reruns
anyways here you go https://www.sc2links.com/tournament/?match=668

I don't really mind there being re-runs always on, but maybe not on the primary channel or something...

Neeb beating a full-strength TY sounds extremely unlikely tbh, save for some cross-server weirdness (massive disruptor shots).
Hate to be a buzzkill but I think we will still just end up with the Serral-Reynor finals.

LMAO Time was expecting Neeb not Serral.

here's a message from the future

i think Reynor or Serral are favourites but I feel like ultimately TY or Stats will win this one.
Edit: I know TY won 2 GSLs this year and in pretty dominant fashion but I feel like he does not do very well in smaller premier tournaments.

Wow, this is pretty neat. Thank you.

I agree it's awfuly managed. Although, I made system in my head like this : in group stage broadcasts was live for 9h, in Main event they are 4-4.5h. So you count how many days ago was group you are searching for, click on broadcast you are looking for and that's pretty much it.
Or wait couple of days and go on YT channel EslArchives and find match by macth upload there

The best way to find the correct VOD is by checking the stream schedule and cross referencing it with the liquidpedia broadcast time. The titles of the broadcasts aren't accurate, but the broadcast times are. For example, since the broadcasts for each day start at 6AM PST, you look through the stream schedule for the broadcast starting at 6AM PST and it should be the right one.

I think this bracket is incredibly hard to predict after all these upsets. I am really excited for this Ro8
|
Clem is still on the road guy, reynor won t break him
|

Fantastic games by Clem, it seems like he has really managed to find a way to counter the lurker style of Reynor now. Awesome player, and great semi-finals coming tomorrow, can't wait! Excited for Neeb vs Serral as well. Great tournament.

Why not get them direclty from https://www.sc2links.com/ ? For me is the easy way to get them, I am on CET/GMT timezone and this week groups started at 1400 PM and conflicted with the work schedule.

That was an amazing RO8. TY underperforming, Serral looking strong, Astrea showing his strength despite not taking the series against the last Korean hope - Stats! and Clem looking better than ever & maybe even the favorite for the whole thing?! Wild. Some AMAZING Starcraft at the end of 2020. I'm going to have to update my predictions: Serral > Neeb 3-2 Clem > Stats 3-2
Finals: Serral>Clem 4-3 Let's see what happens!

I can t predict anything but Clem do a good job and he s the favorite for now even if i won t be disappointed by Stats winning the match with a clever play-style.All depends of Clem patience.

6 foreigners and only 2 koreans in the ro8.. 4 regions represented in the ro8.. damn, was not expecting this.
Great to see
|
Serral didn't like all that talk about him being a slump ._.

That was a great tournament. Global events are always so exciting, but this one was especially great with a lot of strong non-korean representation. Astrea really surprised me - coming so close to taking down Stats... TIME knocking out Innovation, Neeb dominating TY, Maru getting eliminated immediately, tonnes of players on the rise including: Armani, Time, Astrea, and most of all, CLEM!!! Serral reclaiming the throne was great to watch - I'm hoping to see him continue to win tournament after tournament like 2018. Surprisingly the competition in 2020 seems to be the fiercest its ever been. It would be great to see some more Koreans mixed in with the strong foreigners like Dark, Zest, Byun, Rogue, Dream, and Cure so players like Reynor, Clem, Serral, Neeb, and Astrea can show what they're made of!
