Can't wait to bomb out of the open bracket not winning a penny for the fourth time in a row ^^

This is extremely exciting news. SC2 in 2020 hype!
|
yeahhh, hope to see a new player be crowned instead.
As far as I remembered well, only SoS and Rogue held the titles winning back to back Blizconn and Katowice. No one had achieved more than they did.

hope there can be one or two more non-region lock tournaments.

Zest never won Blizzcon so it's just sOs and Rogue. I'm curious to see if the war chest will make the prize pool even more substantial.

Yes! Best tournament of the year!

Why? For me it would be totally fine to see soO win again.

I don't think soO would be allowed to travel, as it happened to Classic this year. I would love to see a non korean win Katowice, but they seem to always struggle in the tournament.
The tenth year of Sc2 is too important of an anniversary to shut the support down; we already have WESG and Katowice confirmed, I think we will see announcements WCS in 2020 in the near future.

So good to see sc2 in Katowice once more, really loved the trip this year!

Fuck yeah another year of sc2

The best tournament of the year confirmed, that's a fucking good news !
|
Best tournament! Excited to see Innovation back in top form and crushing everyone to solidify his GOAT throne

Kind of confused about the prize pool. $400k seems to be what we had last year thanks to the Warchesr. But since there hasn't been a warchest yet announced, it seems weird for them to announce a prize pool that high unless it's 100% confirmed. Does this mean there might not be a warchest next year? Or maybe it'll be used to find something else?
|
Yes please, im so glad we're gonna have sc2 in 2020

Yes! Now Serral can win it

I freakin' love IEM. Huge prize pools and feels like the good ole days of MLGs and Dreamhacks where you have international weekenders open to anyone. To echo someone else, if there were a warchest for it I'd be all over it.

I’m a little confused why everyone is freaking out about SC2... regardless of your race preferences or bias it seems quite clear that the community is very good at supporting itself and I fully expect that the entire 2020 season will be announced soon.
IN THE MEANTIME I’m excited for Starcraft’s Super Bowl Day on Friday... aren’t all of you? :-)
On that note development team: nerf Zerg, please, or give Protoss better options to fight it’s late game with.

Good

AWESOME!!!
After WESG the second big tournament already announced!
Reminds me of this song:

This is awesome news for 2020. I hope I can make it to Katowice again.

Great news! I'm only worried for Korean scene because in the last Super Tournament 2, the CEO of afreeca.tv didn't announce anything for the next year. Usually they always announce how many Code S and ST shall occur... This doesn't mean the end but eventually the tournaments in Korea will be fewer...

Maybe they didn't announce anything because the structure of WCS and GSL next year will be very different; I am only speculating but maybe they could(at least partially) remove region lock.

Fantastic positive news for the game we love, do not take it for granted !

Does anyone know how high are the chances of getting to the Arena without the ticket to watch SC2 live? Is it usually packed? Is it worth buying that premuim ticket which is the only option available for SC2 this year?

I hope you bought your ticket, everyone. See U in Katowice

In the past, you only had a chance of getting in without a ticket during finals day as those games are held in the big Spodek arena. You couldn't count on being let into the auditorium without a ticket during day 1 & 2 (and these are usually the most fun), as we had early entrance tickets and the ticket holders (including CS:GO) were being let in first.
Now that there is no early entrance tickets... that might get a bit weird. Don't know what's the protocol. Does anyone know?

No they don't, every year the CEO just says it will be "bigger and better" next year as his standard phrase and we don't get details until the official announcement months later. Probably because things aren't worked out yet in September. Refer to WCS announcements coming out later and later every year.
|
I don't get the logic of the ticketing at all. Why can you buy normal CS tickets, but only an apparently rather small amount of very expensive tickets to SC2? Are the games played in parallel in different spaces and the SC2 is so much smaller? The webpage is flashy with a lot of pictures and big words about how great it all is, but finding actual practical information on it is painful.

Great, love this tournament.
Only wish for less of an anti climactic finals day (just don't have SC2 move to that arena and have quarters as well on it imo).
