The guys who played today really barely have any prep time.

I think Maru would prefer TY, Zest, or Trap. Late game Z is really hard to beat and Ragnarok has been having an awesome year.

TY is literally top 1 on the list of players Maru doesn't want to play against ever.

Actually no Terran wants to play TY.

Zest vs Dear has to be the most one sided matchup between pros.

He said none of the players from group D were to worry about except Classic. No way would he prefer to play TY when he's spent the last two years talking about how he never wants to play him

Zest is a terrible player, and yet he keeps winning until he loses

Unless Rogue really favors his ZvZ (he shouldn't since his series with Solar easily could have been a loss), Zest has to be his first choice in terms of opponents, right? Rogue has 3 Protoss players to strategize with and he's historically played Zest better than you'd expect considering their relative levels of success prior to the last few years.

I won't argue against that, but I'm pretty sure the protoss option is better then the Zergs option. Is there any protoss scarier to Maru then any GSL zerg?

TY included is just an exaggeration on my view of late game TvZ. Even tastosis have turned late game into a satire during their casts.

Trap is on a 15-series PvT win streak in best of 3+s. Since his loss to Maru in the ro4 on April 6th, he's 27-3 in the match up. Rogue is 10-9 since April 6th in ZvT and a few of those were against players who are nobodies at the moment.

If you extend it beyond players in the ro8, I imagine sOs is #1 on the list of players Maru doesn't want to play ever.

Terran just got buffed to high heaven in TvP

I simply cannot see Maru losing to Trap in a Code S.

The TY vs. Dark matchup is I feel like pretty much "Who's playing Maru in the finals," and I think that TY has a really great shot at winning Code S finally if he beats Dark in a few days.

Yep lol. Every interview Maru always picks TY to be the player he wants to avoid.

Anyone remember that interview video AfreecaTV made where Maru said he even "hated" TY? It was from a collage of clips of Maru being asked over the years who he didn't want to see and Maru kept saying things like "I don't want to see TY at all", "I hate this guy" etc. I think it was during GSL Season 3 last year. Laughed so hard.

As much of a monster as TY is, his best chance of winning a GSL is arguably landing another TvT finals against Maru.

Dark and then Rogue (if he doesn't tank the ro8 as usual) are pretty much the worst possible bracket for TY currently.

My money is on a Rogue-Maru finals.

If he beat Dark Rogue would be a lot less scary.

Also Rogue is 0-10 in Ro8 matches of Korean league tournaments so maybe don't put your money on anything until after the Ro8

I mean honestly would you be the guy who lets Rogue into the Ro4, knowing not even Curious and Neeb lost to him?

I’d be enjoying seeing Ragnarok, KeeN, and Zest more if Maru wasn’t still in it, this is basically the phase of GSL where he’s reached his safe point is and basically guaranteed his win, isn’t it?

Sucks the tension out of it for me, my cynical sick brain can only view these games under a “just waiting to lose to Maru,” lens.

Oh GOMTvT when will your scars heal.

Yes, it was kinda implied that all that was based on Rogue not Rogue'ing it

I'm pretty sure Rogue would take out Dark if he gets his shit together for Code S.

Well if it was an online event it would still be a win for Zest since he's on a 7 series winning streak against Rogue.

Lets face the reality... Rogue will just crumble as usual Besides Zest is terrible outside PvP but he seems to have Rogues number. Beats him every time online, so he definitely has a shot.

So he just has to dodge the best terran player, the two best protoss players, and the best zerg players to win this season. I can agree with that

Just have to say after another WCS sweep.....Would any of this current top-8 GSL players be able to win Serral in best of 5 or 7 ? I cant see any of them having a chance. Even not Maru, since his form has not been anything of his prime lately.
