2018 GSL Code S: Season 3

Group C of the GSL Code S Ro16 began with a familiar sight as (Wiki)Zest, having struggled with Zergs for most of the year, died to (Wiki)Leenock's baneling bust. He fought his way back, however, and advanced to the Winners' Match where he faced (Wiki)Trap. An impressive comeback after a relatively unsuccessful opening, followed by a build order win, saw Zest top his group.

Trap and (Wiki)herO played a fun PvP series full of aggression and neat little adjustments, but its winner Trap was very quickly knocked back down by Zest. Leenock never had much trouble with herO in the Losers' Match, but Trap gave him a good run for his money. Eventually, though, Leenock came out on top with a gold base fueled ling/queen all-in on Dreamcatcher.

Code S will resume on Saturday, Aug 25 4:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) with Group D of the Ro16, featuring Stats, Keen, TY, sOs.

Zest, grats. But it's Leenock gave a lot of us a surprise. His ZvP is good but there are cases like herO doing poorly. But Leenock vs Trap was really a good match! Who will he fight in the quarterfinals? Hope he makes it in the semis.

That final PvP with Trap, those moves with the stalkers - Zest reminded for some of his best years! It was one of the least genius things I saw in this GSL.

Did online-Zest and offline-Zest finally fuse?

Zest made his third consecutive Ro8 appearance at this year's GSL, just as Maru

Zest consistently doesn't look impressive yet he's the only player alongside Maru to make GSL playoffs every season this year, something he hasn't done since 2014.
Zest, sOs, PartinG, Dark, and Maru are the real champs. ROOT_herO is overrated. Snute, Serral, and Scarlett are the foreigner GOATs

Like Maru, he consistently manages to have Ro16 groups that are as easy as possible for him to advance from.

Maru earns that ability by being the champ. 2/3 times this year Zest has been brought into a group because he's considered one of the easier opponents.

Lowest quality ro16 group I've ever seen. Epitomised by Leenock seeing DTs and not making spores followed by Zest donating an archon. And these are the two that got through. They should both get demolished in the ro8.

Leenock vs. Trap was one of my favourite series in a long time.
I bear this sig to commemorate the loss of the team icon that commemorated Oversky's 2008-2009 Proleague Round 1 performance.

Yeah a RO16 group with Reynor, Neeb and Impact in it is certainly higher quality.

Wasn't he last picked into his group both times, then selected his own group this season? People don't get last picked if they're considered bad.

A group with foreign Zergs is by definition always higher quality than one with korean Zergs.

Yeah I think any of them would have had a good shot of getting out. It's 2018. Get rid of your Korean bias. Reynor is probably better than all but a handful of KR zergs (Dark, soO, Rogue, Solar). Impact consistently outperforms Leenock in online cups. Neeb is hit and miss but his best is pretty damn good.

Really interested to see how Leenock does in the round of 8. Now we only need KeeN to advance for the chance of a Leenock v KeeN grand finals

Leenock > Reynor and the gap between the four you mentioned and Reynor is massive.
Banned for saying "zerg players are by far the biggest whiners in sc2 history" despite the fact that this forum is full of such posts about Terrans. Foreigner Elitists in control!
