Hell, it’s Nation Wars time folks!

O’Gaming is proud to announce the fifth edition of Nation Wars—an iconic event where national teams compete in StarCraft II, the epic sci-fi strategy title from Blizzard Entertainment.

Funded by War Chest purchases, this new edition will feature top players from all around the world battling for a $50,000 cashprize. Everyone can participate: you only need to be Grand Master to represent your country!

Nation Wars V will follow the footsteps of the past editions: vote for 3 champions, cheer for them and defend your homeland (or the country you wished was your homeland) by laddering like crazy under the flag of your country or the portrait of your hometown hero.

From February 15 to February 27, Grand Master players will be able to register to their own nation roster. The community voting phase will begin right after and last until March 08.

Matches will begin on March 21!

To register to the voting phase, players have to be a 2017 or 2018 non-barcode Grand Master on the European, American or Korean ladders.
Register here!

If you’re not Grand Master yet and want to represent your nation in this fierce competition, go grind that ladder right away!

Nation Wars V being a worldwide tournament, any nation can apply for the qualifiers. If three players from the same nation successfully register, it will officially compete in the tournament. All registrations will need to be approved by the tournament director.

Once the registration phase is complete, it will be time to choose who will represent your nation. It’s no easy choice, but we know you will bring balance in your lineup and elect the best players to fight for your colours.

Remember that victory with no challenge is no victory at all.

As explained earlier, each team will consist of the three most voted players per nation. All matches will be played in Bo7 All-Kill format with a Revival for one of the already fallen warriors.
Ro16 Groups stages will be played online in GSL style, like legends do!
Ro8 Bracket stage will be played online in a single-elimination format.
Ro4 and Grand Final will take place in a 1200 people venue live from Pax festival in Paris, the best way to show your support and have your opponents literally shake under your loud passion.

Registration Phase: February 15 - February 27
Voting Phase: February 27 - March 11

Online /

Ro32: March 21 - March 24
Ro16: March 29 - April 06
Ro8 Bracket: April 07 - April 08

Offline /

Ro4 and Grand Final: April 22 in PLAY Paris powered by Pax (1200 seats) in Paris.

With great competitions come great commentary. Therefore, we are excited to announce that Nation Wars V will be casted in countless languages which will all be revealed on March 04!

After a bright success of the first 4 editions in which Norway won 2 times in 2014 and 2015, France in 2016 and South Korea in 2017, we can logically expect to see a challenging competition in the 5th edition!

Will your Nation be next? It’s up to you!
“War never changes. Only weapons are new. Yet it is not the weapons, but the men who handle them, who win victories.”

For Sweden this is likely to be the case, unless Naniwa all of a sudden arises from the ashes somehow.

I think that they should do an all in tournament where everyone that wants could compete rather than such voting type selection, obviously everyone will vote for known players rather than the ones they never heard.

i mean he streams and ladders and has been top 16~ top 10 on EU for some time now... so it's more like if it's something he'd actually do/others would be interested in seeing.

Fair enough, it's just that he doesn't enter tourneys very regularly. Unfortunately.

Thanks for the list, Aeromi! Pro tip: you also may use File -> Advanced -> Publish to web feature when releasing a google document to a wide audience, it makes it cleaner and able to handle heavy traffic.

I've never participated in the voting for nation wars so I'm not sure how they usually do it but I sure hope they let you vote for as many players as you want. If they only let you vote for one player per country then there are going to be some weird results.

Just take a look at the WESG balance discussion poll to see how the results get screwed up when you only allow one vote per person. In the zerg poll Europe has 64% of the vote yet a NA player is winning. If people had been allowed to vote for multiple players then a European player probably would be winning the poll (we can't know for sure though). I believe the same problem happened with the GSL vs The World tournament last year where the Europe votes were divided among several players.

It's really important that people are able to vote for as many players as they want per country in order to ensure that the most popular players actually win the poll. Otherwise people will end up wasting their votes and the results won't accurately reflect the will of the people.

There was also a massive bug in the voting system where you could only vote if you had an account on NA server. If you only ever play on EU server, you couldn't vote. Also this information seemed to be pretty buried, I remember I had to search quite a bit before I found out what the problem was. Most people probably just give up.

You will be voting for 3 players per nation per day.

It's fine, we don't even NEED Scarlett. We have GSL Code S regular and GOAT coach NoRegret, he'll carry us to victory.
