The GSL Code S continued with its third week of games, perhaps featuring the most stacked group in the Round of 32. Two time GSL champion  Zest and six time finalist  soO headlined Group D, while a pair of in-form challengers in  Bunny and NoRegreT suggested there could be exciting games ahead.
Initial match 1: NoRegreT's three hatchery opening bought him a lead in game one, but soO's superior ling/bane micro allowed him to double NoRegreT's worker count in that game and the second. Roaches sealed the deal in game one, but were not even needed on Blackpink as soO won 2-0.
Initial match 2: Bunny leapt out to a lead in game one after a strong defense against adept/phoenix set up a lethal counterattack, but was unable to deal with three armor chargelots and archons in game two. Game three was a quick one, with proxied stalkers ending things in Zest's favor.
Winners' match: Zest went for chargelot/archon builds on Catalyst and Ascension to Aiur, but soO undermined his efforts with zergling runbys. His economy disrupted and his attention split, Zest's pushes fell flat in the face of hydras as soO claimed two straight victories and a spot in the Round of 16.
Losers' match: NoRegreT losing his third to thors was critical to him falling behind 1-0, but he evened the series with a hydralisk timing that caught Bunny with only two tanks. NoRegreT’s early zerglings proved wasted supply in game three, allowing Bunny to parlay his lead into a fatal mech push.
Decider match: Bunny pulled the boys in game one, but his SCVs got caught in a stasis ward while his vikings failed to target fire Zest's colossi. Bunny sniped Zest's third in game two, but Zest defended, even sniping a triple drop with stalkers before cleaning Bunny up to advance in second place.

I'd like to half agree with you. There was no surprise in the result. What I thought was a surprise in that, when soO and Zest met, soO almost made Zest (I think the best Protoss on earth right now) look like just "some" grandmaster Protoss player. soO so often looks incredibly strong in the ro32 and ro16.

He might. I thought he only knew one PvT build, but he showed us that phoenix build (which was probably worse than his regular build, but w/e) against Bunny.

zest occasionally uses phoenix on certain maps where there is space that can't be reached by stalkers. At least this is my observation when i watch his streams

that zest vs soo game was brutal. It felt like soo could put lings in zests base whenever he felt like it. I just don't get zest sometimes when he plays he just seems perfect, very smart and nearly untouchable but every so often he has series like this one where he doesn't even look close to the level of his opponent. I hope going forward we see the good zest and not the off his game shaky zest.

yeah its a bummer. He seemed strategically ontop of things but was making mechanical mistakes. I bet that he would have showed much better games had he felt better.

well I dont know if I would consider his mass ling vs mech to be a strategically ontop of things kind of choice.

I think his allins seemed bad in part because he was making mental errors no regret has some really strong allins, mabey if he's on his game he gets a few more to work. But yeah I see your point I'm not sold on the number of lings he made vs mech in some of those games, he did admitdly trade really well vs the hellions in his first game vs mech but it did not seem to matter.

My view is different. Health is the most precious thing you have and playing with a real fever is an idiotic decision you need a serious reason for(e.g. your kid has fever as well). This comes from a guy who had 40+ C fevers in his life on several occasions so I dare to say I know what I'm talking about. Believe me, if you have fever(and in CZE this means 38 C+) you would have to be on the level of Innovation at his peak with favoring race to at least have a chance. No offense to NoRegret, but he's nowhere near that level. And playing with a fever is a hazardous situation. He doesn't even get good money from it, just some low level internet fame.
Sure, he may never be there again, but at the same time in 10 years all these "this doesn't kill me" situations can get summed up and some part of his body will say - nope, I'm too old for this. And honestly, this isn't worth it.
Maybe I'm just too old, but believe me that my "sins" from youth caught me and it's not anything pleasant. Speaking of my own experience
