TY dominates Group B of KeSPA Cup

The second day of competition at KeSPA Cup had a few surprises in store, as a big favorite fell, while an underdog fought his way into the spotlight, with (Z)Pet surprisingly advancing out of the group behind a dominating (T)TY.

The KT Rolster Terran once more demonstrated his ability to use various styles of play, showing off a strong mech build on New Gettysburg, which he used to defeat both (Z)TRUE and Pet in different scenarios. TY did not get into a single critical spot in any of his four games, looking quite untouchable in TvZ.

In contrast to that, CJ’s (P)herO has rarely looked more vulnerable in PvZ than he does right now, resulting in his shockingly easy elimination at the hands of Pet and TRUE, who mainly used mass speedling tactics to outplay him. Pet managed to outmacro herO in their series, TRUE put his well known, ever aggressive style to good use and overran the CJ protoss with a mixture of speedling-queen swarms and muta-switches.

In the deciding clash, TRUE and Pet delivered close and action packed ZvZ matches—and we finally got a taste of how Pet managed to qualify for KeSPA Cup over SSL runner-up (Z)Dark. Strong micro throughout the series and a nice nydus timing in the deciding game gave us a glimpse of a player well versed in ZvZ. It was a performance to prove that his qualifying run was not a fluke.

Despite Pet's surprising advancement, the award for most entertaining player of the group most certainly belongs to PSISTORM Gaming’s (Z)TRUE, whose endless aggression not only resulted in games bursting with action, the Zerg also showed cute micro tricks against both TY—saving his queen drop multiple times with clutch transfuses—and herO—a triple spore drone save against an adept attack. Huge surrounds, massive counter attacks and even an abduct & neural parasite-combination on a mothership to cloak his own units. TRUE may not have advanced into the next round, but he certainly won some sympathies with his performance.
TY will face his team-mate (P)Zest in the next round, while Pet has drawn foreign powerhouse (P)Neeb as his next opponent.

Group C of KeSPA Cup is played tomorrow, featuring (P)Stats, (Z)Solar, (T)MarineLorD and (P)Trap.

So it's group a vs group b and group c vs group d in the ro8.

Pretty tough for Nerchio, since he will have to face Solar, Stats or Trap in the ro8 and he named all of them as the Koreans he has the most trouble against.

Neeb has a great shot at the ro4 now though.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

TBH, I dont' think Pet and TRUE are a real test of TYs TvZ... And he gets to play Zest next... Great... I love me some teamkills

True played really well, so sad he lost to that nydus timing in the last map of today.

To be fair many people didn't expect Zest to get out of the group at all.

Byun lost to Zest cause he probably had a nervous breakdown about having to face TY if he won

Actually, I think someone like Nerchio Need or Maru will win KeSpa cup. Because in SSL Ty looked just as untouchable but he still lost 3-1.. but then again that was too dark who's not in this tournament. Personally though I think Maru will come out 2nd in his group and Nerchio will come in 1st.
Maru is the best Terran ever.

Lol I say herO's overrated for a reason. He hasn't done any good games all year tbh. The few wins he has are the most normal plays I've ever seen.

Anyhow TY is best but against Zest it's an easy loss. Zest probably beats TY in customs all the time based of their S1 performance. Neeb can and will beat Pet, I fully believe in him to do so.

TY has lost a series to Dark twice this year, but his TvP otherwise is incredible. I am 100% willing to bet against Nerchio winning though, he's against Classic and Patience blizzcon spot (which is a free $10K btw)
Zest, sOs, PartinG, Dark, and Maru are the real champs. ROOT_herO is overrated. Snute, Serral, and Scarlett are the foreigner GOATs

Can you please stop spoiling every event just a few hours after conclusion? Team Liquid has been so vigilant about not spoiling anything in the past. That "hide spoilers" button would be a great and easy solution...

they posted about this years ago. if u dont want to be "spoiled" after groups are already over then it's probably not the best idea to come to a site that discusses events during that time.

I agree, the spoilers are brutal now. I hate to have to avoid TL before I've seen vods of ongoing events, but I guess that's what it is coming to.

Just go straight to here now for any Kespa events: https://www.youtube.com/user/ESportsTV/playlists.
Or to here for GSL: https://www.twitch.tv/gsl

Maybe if this was the only thing that was on TL, then I could see this being OK. But what if you just want to get other community news, check strategy sections, general, etc.? Can't even do that now because front page spoils current events.

I'm so happy for Pet and MVP, they are struggling at the moment so this should give them a big boost, especially if Pet can go deeper in the tournament.

It's neither. We're a news site that covers SC2. We've debated this to death, and in the end decided to do regular news coverage.

Let it be known that there will also be recaps for the next groups, so if you guys want to avoid spoilers (which is totally fine, we all understand!), you should bookmark SPOTV's Youtube channel for the VODs (https://www.youtube.com/user/ESportsTV/videos).

The problem with the youtube channel is that the first vods they upload is the interviews with the winners, so there is a spoiler there, too.
The best way avoiding spoilers (in general) is watching twich vods, but there is only a french twich for this tournament.

I don't agree with this. TL is so much more than just a news site. You guys want visitors right? Why limit yourself to visitors who have already seen the games. You're literally telling people to not give you page hits, never heard of a website not wanting more hits before. If you alienate your visitors that aren't here for news, you're not gonna have many visitors left honestly.

I mean the Neeb one is even oddly worded, a bit too long for a title. Its as if someone went out of their way to spoil the outcome rather than organize the threads by naming them similar things (e.g KeSPA Cup day 1,2,3,4 or Group A B C D recap).

I agree that you cant come to TL expecting not to get spoiled however its never been this bad before which is why Im surprised.
