Who cares if True has lived too short time in NA? He has a visa, he's already there. He would have been contributing to the scene for longer if the visa was approved earlier. You conveniently forget about this because he wasn't born there.

Let me remind you that WCS is not about locking people for where they're born, language, etc. It's meant to only allow people who contribute to the scene. In the light of that, he's doing more than other guys like...

It's a shame that TRUE can qualify through an NA qualifier. He's not even one GSL season removed from being a GSL Code S player and he's completely exploiting the system.

On one hand I agree with you

On the other. Considering how much Koreans have been fucked over by WCS. Good.

WCS is also about nurturing the development of the SC2 scene worldwide. Koreans have the benefit of being trained and regimented in well-resourced team settings, on a competitive ladder, and with the best e-sports infrastructure in the world -- something foreigners do not have. For them to travel elsewhere for easier money diminishes the opportunities of local scenes, and it diminishes the fan bases within those scenes.

This has nothing to do with TRUE not being born in the US, or about his race (MaSa is neither white nor a Canadian citizen, but he doesn't raise the same controversy). It's about the longevity of the foreign viewership and interest in the scene.

At this point I'm thinking it does have to do with those things.

You talk about True as if he wasn't part of the scene and was simply benefiting from it. Again he has a visa which he worked hard and eaited long to obtain, he is living there, and playing the local ladder so whatever advantage he has (aka korean training) other people in NA are now making use of. But if those things aren't enough to make people feel he is a deserving and fair competitor, what else is he missing? (I'm not talking about what he is missing according to rules, I'm talking about getting people's approval).

What I'm seeing is that people bitched about Koreans taking NA jobs and money. The supposed reason for this bitching was that the Koreans were not giving anything back. Now Koreans like True are giving back, but it's not enough? Forgive me but I'm starting to believe that "not giving anything back" was not the real reason in the first place.

NA should just be glad Polt didn't try and qualify.

I see very few people complaining about TRUE being in America. The arguments I see is the classic foreign vs Korea "TRUE won Montreal therefore all foreigners suck" vs, what I believe is more likely the case " It was a great run, but not indicative of the skill gap because he did next to nothing noteworthy before and after the victory. He also avoided a large number of top foreigners."

Polt hasn't been playing consistently as of late. He would be a threat for sure but not as much as True. Besides, he just got last in a group with a Korean and two foreigners.
