the only requirements for each region is a passport. does this mean a native passport(aka you can only play in the region you were physically born in?), or a verified visa allowing you to stay in the country is acceptable?

Well OGN is the big esports channel in korea, considering that more esports titles are involved with WESG it doesn't surprise me at all. I doubt this means anything besides that.

I appreciate their effort to include scenes that otherwise have little exposure but the format is rather dumb. The two koeans who advance to the Main Event will duke out the huge pricepool between them lol. Also the timing so close to Blizzcon is meh. Maybe this is sOs' redemption for not making it there so he can grab even more than 100k at Blizzcon? xD
The way in which they've grouped some countries seems bizarre to say the least. Also no mention of some Nations at all, let's just pretend they don't exist.....

I think you're supposed to play in the SEA + India + Mongolia Qualifer if you don't have a Thai passport.
I'm so salty over the fact that Thailand or the Philippines receive seperate seed, whereas Vietnam don't. The Thai players have to come over to our Vietnam Team League or our other tournaments to play because their scene is so ded, and our players beat their best players all the time. But we so so little to no popularity whatsoever outside of our own community, people doesn't even know that we exist (and is the most alive country in the SEA region)
I'm not even aware that the Philippines scene exist haha =((
What are the requirements for participating these qualifiers? I am cambodian American, Cambodia falls under the india+southeast Asia group. Do I need to be a citizen or something?

If you're US citizen living in the US, then I'm pretty sure you're an American LOL I mean I have Roman ancestors, that doesn't make me Italian

If you have a valid passport you can probably play in that country's qualifier. That's how Stephano got into the Tunisian qualifier.

well i understand what you're trying to say. but i can aquire a cambodian passport if i went for it. thats why i asked these questions. maybe if they did a second one, i'll get a cambodian passport. Because that's all i see as a requirement.

A valid passport of the country you want to represent at the time of signing up. You have to provide your passport number to sign up. So you just can't say "hey I can get a passport in time can you let me play in the qualifiers first?" Also keep in mind now Mongolia falls under the India + SEA category, so Sioras will be waiting for you there.

OGN should be doing it, meaning it's going to be great.
NEWS for Indonesians interested in this. You'll be allowed to join the Malaysian qualifiers. There was a logistical error during the qualifiers, an honest mistake, so you'll have shared qualifiers with Malaysia. Make sure to sign up!
The qualifier isn't for another couple days. Unless, of course, their schedule is wrong.
I see very few registered players for most regions even where signups have closed :s
Apparently NO ONE signed up for the Filipino qualifier, and sign-ups are closed for that one.
Congrats on winning the South Asia qualifier BTW
...it sounds so weird that PH qualifiers went empty (EnDerr at lest should have gone for it) and even more that the India & South East Asia went empty too (DemiLove, Sioras and all of the Vietnamese players you can usually see in minor eastern tournaments went mia all at the same time?)...

DemiLove doesn't have a passport, Sioras and the viets are all signed up. EnDerr was on a break, I tried my best to contact him but no replies and all.
I wonder what will they do with all the free spots?

It's such a shame, if only they can give us (India+SEA) or the Koreans a spot, instead of giving the Filipinos a spot and then no one signed up like this.

You need a passport of the country you want to represent regardless. Demi is Indian yeah but idk he just said something about not having a valid passport.

Yeah is there an admin available anywhere? I gotta bitch at 'em a fair bit about this bracket. 3 best players on one side and it's SE, fucking unacceptable.

bottom half will probably come down to Byun vs Dark.
I can totally see Trust, Myungsik or sOs beating Inno. He still sucks against Protoss. Also GuMiho, aLive and Ryung are all really good.
Yeah the bracket is really good and also I really want to know if TY, ByuN, Solar and Dark are still in topform before BlizzCon or if they seem more mortal now. If they get beaten by other "normal" Koreans, Nerchio has a shot :p.

Since it's online I can totally see Dark lose unexpectedly. I don't think TY, ByuN or Solar will lose to anyone where you'd think "Well he definitely wins that."
But Solar's first match is the ZvZ coin flip and ByuN probably has to play Zest as his first match. So, you know, shit could go wrong for them pretty fast.
