This can't be real, Hydra and Neeb aren't in the same bracket. Please post the real bracket!

Showtime vs Heromarine RIP Germany

Also it only took like 8 tournaments to have Hydra and Neeb on different sides of the bracket.

I mean its not neeb hydra, we can't have it all

If Polt shows the same level he had in the last months this is a great bracket for The Bergman

Still very much not a fan of the single elimination format. Snute vs TRUE in round 1 is just tragic.

Yeah, it's silly for such an important tournament to be single elimination

Sorry I've been out of loop, you mean Polt has been playing sub-par recently?

Also, seems like a bad bracket for Drogo

Polt could pull a Stephano and be drunk off his ass and still comfortably reach the RO8.

(Okay that's a slight exaggeration, sortOf and Elazer are pretty good, but that top right bracket is pretty soft compared to the rest of the tournament).

What are the rules of the bracket, is it completely random, completely rigged, or something inbetween?

Idk about now but the way they did it for winter was :

1 batch of 8 players seeded according to wcs rankings in 2015
1 batch of 8 players seeded according to wcs 2016
1 batch of the other 16

Then they match those 16 randomly with the other 8 and 8

I'd be surprised if they still use the 2015 rankings this time though, but just an fyi

The top player of each quadrant look like the 1-4 seeds and their opponents are all newcomers (this year at least) I think, so there's probably some seeding involved.

Obviously it's based on WCS points. There're 6 players without any points, so they're facing No.1-No.6 (randomly maybe).

The 7th is Elazer, he's facing XY who qualified with lowest points (175). Violet is 8th, and facing Kalazhur who is second lowest (240). You can continue to map the rest players easily.

For Nerchio, if he could beat Violet in IEM Shanghai then he can surpass Polt and be in a good position for this. But he failed, so he's still No.3 and have to be in the same quad with Neeb (No.6). Also in second round he has to face winner of No.14 and No.19 (Puck/Scarlett), consider Scarlett's HSC performance and Nerchio's ZvZ is his worst match-up this may not be that easy like their match in Spring Circuit. So that's all bad consequences of not beating Violet in IEM Shanghai.

For Neeb it's the same, if he could win IEM shanghai he can be in No.5 which should be a slightly better quad than he has now, especially consider he's not fear of ShowTime (just 3-0'd).

So now we can only see Polt continue lay on his success from Winter Circuit and get relatively quite easy to at least ro8. Though his recent Leifeng cup run make a little bit come back sign for him.

All WCS events uses this seeding system, for example IEM Shanghai with Polt out Hydra is No.4 and Neeb is No.5 so you're sure to see Hydra vs Neeb in second round. (Except the open tournaments like DH Valencia)

Don't know if most people like this seeding system, but I think it's at least better than pure random. And, there're always amazing things happen, especially on Circuit events. Still remember Strange almost take down Polt? And the miracle run by ShowTime (at least at that time). So hopefully there're some new kings or even 0 point players can bring something amazing.

Pretty easy bracket for Polt especially since it seems like his form is somewhat returning in some recent matches he's played. Expect to see him in the semis

Yeah, it's silly for such an important tournament to be single elimination

...regarding EnDerr not attending: are nearly two months really not enough time to get a visa for a tournament in Canada for someone living in the Philippines?

Top right bracket looks really easy. Scarlett has a pretty tricky path with nerchio but nerchio is not the same level in zvz compared to zvp and zvt so upset is definitely possible.

So sad Heromarine has to play showtime i really hope he wins so he finally gets some point&money and people recognize him as a really good upcoming player even if that would probably destroy our chances for another german tounament win

Obviously it's based on WCS points. There're 6 players without any points, so they're facing No.1-No.6 (randomly maybe).

No, actually the only person without points is True, who should be playing Showtime in the first round. Generally, seeds/matchups are based on WCS points with a few strange exceptions.

Looks like I didn't open the "rest" part in WCS points page so missed some players actually do have some points.

I checked again and here's the results:

1. ShoWTimE - 4235
2. Polt - 4170
3. Nerchio - 4100
4. Snute - 3405
5. Hydra - 3135
6. Neeb - 3050
7. Elazer - 2310
8. viOLet - 2310
9. MaSa - 2055
10. PtitDrogo - 1945
11. uThermal - 1780
12. Has - 1350
13. Harstem - 1315
14. puCK - 1045
15. SortOf - 1015
16. Cham - 760
17. MarineLorD - 715
18. TooDming - 690
19. Scarlett - 630
20. iaguz - 490
21. MaNa - 360
22. Serral - 330
23. Bunny - 330
24. MajOr - 250
25. Kelazhur - 240
26. XY - 185
27. PiLiPiLi - 90
28. Welmu - 45
29. Semper - 30
30. ShaDoWn - 15
31. HeRoMaRinE - 15
32. TRUE - 0

Based on this list, I think the the only reasonable explanation is that they somehow treat TRUE's WCS point as something between 30 to 45 instead of 0. So, TRUE is actually placed at the 29th position which faces Snute. And all other players matches the seeding.

Maybe someone from blizzard/dreamhack can explain the details why TRUE has some points between 30 to 45.

This is not important to me (or anyone who just watch and enjoy the games) but it's actually very important to those players, especially Snute - he should get Semper according to the WCS points but he actually got TRUE, which is quite different. Hope someone can provide an answer.

Nope, Blizzard decided that Koreans shouldn't be allowed to play in international events. Even though literally the rest of the world can.

Just one more detail. You also missed the points of Major and Marinelord that have been removed - but still are used for seeding. Meaning Marinelord has 1060 and Major has 485 points giving them respectively seeds 14 and 20. Anyway the rest is ok and this will not change much.

Well, I dunno, True has hardly tried to qualify for anything else up until now, so it is a bit harsh to say that he has no luck at all just because he has to face Snute in his first appearance.

They're probably taking into consideration that TRUE had accumulated 300 WCS KR points this year (100 from GSL S1 Code A, 200 from GSL S2 Code S spot which he forfeited when switching to Circuit) in some form. At least, that's my guess.

DreamHack xxxx Mainland Chinese players truly.
Passport issues are all that she likes to use.
Therefore, no Mainland Chinese players are allowed to join in this NA Server Qualifier.

It takes time to apply for Visa and process a Visa. Depending on country etc it may take a month or even 3 months or even longer vide True for ex.

Since he was 5-8 placed in the qualifier its hard to say. Most likely he was the only one who had passport/visa issues resolved. Then again well, errr... maybe he was selected as he has the best chance in the match-up.

Same reason uThermal got to play in IEM Shanghai, he was available. On short notice it's entirely about who is free AND next in line.
