Get wrekt Terrans.

So sad reading these tournament lists and not seeing more of my favorite Korean players like in the old days, but I'm really excited to see what the American crowd is like at DH!

Snute/Hydra/Polt/Neeb

who wins?

Although Bly, Harstem, Drogo, Elazer etc. could always upset, should be a cool ro8!
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

Interresting tournament, it would be the perfect time for Neeb to make is big splash in the scene, I would also keep an eye on Masa, Harstem and Guru.

The level of Hydra will also be interesting, he seems to have drop a lot, damn wedding killing starcraft.

"Second Group Stage

64 players in 16 groups of 4 players each, played in a dual tournament format
32 players from the First Group Stage
32 players pre-seeded
Matches are Bo3
Top 2 players of each group advance to the playoffs"

8 "qualified" players. Where do they fit in? What's the difference between 8 qualified players and 32 pre-seeded players. Yet more vagueness coming outta the DH format xD

I have not been practicing but from now until the tournament I have a lot of time to practice except for a brief trip this weekend so I'll see what skill level I can manage to get up to. I'll see if I can stream some of it but my PC is not really powerful enough to stream without lagging. And I'm pretty bad atm so idk.

Also my mom and mother-in-law live in San Antonio (about an hour drive from Austin) so I'll be meeting with them for Mother's Day (the Sunday of that weekend) ^_^ Should be a nice trip and Austin is a great city. Just gonna be hot...

Will groups be announced soon now that the full player list is known?

I dont really mind PvP nor ZvZ or PvZ but if the whole tournament is basically that it gets really exhausting to entertain yourself or the viewers regardless of passion. I feel bad - Terran wasn't really in a great place outside of Korea - it never really was but we have some decent Terrans - I am not saying none is present but we could field way better Terrans than this :/

Besides that - the lack of Koreans is really making the tournaments far less enjoyable. I really hope WCS will go in another direction next year. I am not sure how proplayers feel about it since there is more competetion between them and more chances to make a living but I certainly feel this cannot feel rewarding as this could as well be a Go4 or online cup.

My first thought was actually that I've watched Go4s with a stronger lineup, which is indeed kinda sad.

I will still enjoy the tournament, but it will always be in the back of my mind.

Hmmm, i guess pros have their reasons and logic for not coming. I'm sure those I listed (minus say Hitman and Lucifron) would be guaranteed a Ro16 or better (some money & WCS points is better than none).

Oh wells, excited to see what happens!

I am not sure how proplayers feel about it since there is more competetion between them and more chances to make a living but I certainly feel this cannot feel rewarding as this could as well be a Go4 or online cup.

time for taketv to bring back WCS in GSL style like the last years so we can bring back the koreans

Seems like a good event for ZvZ fans. But then again what foreign event isn't good for ZvZ fans.

Even if the only Terran is Polt, then we are going to see Terran wins until the end

Let's go Poltimus! And then Violet or Hydra against him.

Just wanted to post and say I'm happy to see local heroes compete and NA players like Neeb (who is scary good), Nony, Kelazhur etc

The "I only watch Korean" elitists can suck it and watch GSL.

Dreamhack used to be the top of the top, really fun, super events where you could get some really stacked events which were a blast to watch.

Now, well.

I guess I'll watch Proleague. Blizzard and WCS welfare supporters are a little deluded if they think that closing off open events is going to make events better.

This is part of the backwards ways blizzard does things:

let's make a game which is fun to watch -> so that people will watch the game

instead of

let's make a game which is really fun to play -> large player base -> large viewership

OR

let's prevent koreans from playing so foreigners can play, > people like to watch foreigners > large viewer ship

instead of

let's host events where player skill can really shine and show some amazing actual games > large viewership

Blizzard tried to make a spectator sport instead of making an actual fun game; all their policies reflect that. It's the other way around compared to LoL, where the game is fun even if you're in Bronze.

I mean, I want to cheer for Polt but he's just going to walk over everyone. What's the point

I'm guessing MaSa, Kiwikaki, NoRegreT, Scarlett, Semper or even old schoolers like Grrrr would like to have a word with you on that. Since you didn't imply you were talking about the present of SCII and not Starcraft including Broodwar and SCII since it's inception, I had to point that out. If you meant that right now there are less canadian pro players than americans that will almost always be true considering the huge difference in demographics.

Especially Scarlett and Huk make that comment lose credence. They both have displayed some strong domination during certain periods.

I heard Scarlett is in Korea right now, is this true?

IF YOU ARE A "FOREIGN" SC2 PLAYER PLAY TERRAN AND GET BETTER.

This is so embarrassing as a fan of Terrans, if you aren't Korean then you simply don't have the skill to play Terran well. This is the message us foreign fans get EVERY SINGLE TOURNAMENT.

Very frustrating. Why so many Zergs? Protoss? Is Terran that much harder? Apparently.

I gotta admit, I am REALLY hyped to see Nony even if he doesn't stomp his way to the finals. Also good to see CatZ after such a long time.

I really, really want to see Scarlett do well in the GSL.

It's been so long since we've had a foreigner try to tackle that monster! It's about time!

I'm going to sign up as a Scarlett fan if she qualifies.

There are around five Terrans in the round of 32. What does this mean? It means that Terran is hopelessly underpowered at the moment.

This feels like the first time in a while where Blizzard severely messed up a race's balance. There's no way any of those five are going to make it to the round of eight, except for perhaps Polt.

...coming from a P.
