It's hard to generate revenue, we really had no means of doing so. We didn't have the experience or clout to do any kind of marketing work (EG for example) to generate revenue. That was really only one small factor in the decision. Over the course of the last year many of the staff found themselves stepping into full time careers, and without substantial cash flow we couldn't compensate them for their time. Also, to be quiet honest some of the staff and players just kind of burnt themselves out. Amateur SC2 is fucking grueling and highly competitive man, all of these kids are working their asses off to "make it" and it really takes a toll on these kids when they're not getting results.

All in all we really just felt it was the right time to put the team down. We will still be sending Sarovati and Reborn to MLG and fulfilling our contractual obligations to them. They'll have all travel and lodging paid for, and also receive a daily stipend to eat.

Sorry to see you go, CG. Thank you to everyone who was a part of making CG such a tremendous pleasure and success while I was managing in 2013. Good luck to everyone who is going to push on. While I have remained incredibly inactive since I left (and even more so since Brandon and I made amends), I still hope to see you all find continued success and happiness wherever your life may take you. I will always be, at the very least, a silent lurker (stalker? o_O) watching from the shadows.

I didn't think I would be doing this... But here is a long winded shout out to everyone who made CG such a great family and a pleasure to work with and for:

+ Show Spoiler +

Brandon - Thanks for putting in the time and the money and creating such a wonderful team; for giving me the opportunity to be a part of it. We had our highs and our lows but I am glad to still call you my friend. Good luck with what ever you plan to do next.

Matt - Thanks for all your help and support along the way. And for introducing me to so many cool people at Anaheim. And for being there when we really needed your help with some tough PR.

Michael (Cav) - Thanks for showing up when you did, and for all of the time you put into everything. The Academy would not have been a success without you on board. The team would not have been a success, and would likely not have moved forward without your help after I left.

Fox - Thanks for all the hard work, time, and wisdom you brought to the table with our media and marketing plans. It was always a pleasure brainstorming with you. I am sorry we never had the means to do more of what we talked about while you were around.

Treisk - Thanks for the kind words brother. And thank you for all of your hard work. Again, the Academy would not have been nearly what it was without your help and dedication to it and the other players who were putting in so much time for it.

Shew - Thanks for being Shew. For all the good times and the laughs and the late night games and streams. If I ever get the time again, we'll definitely be picking up where we left off. I'll see you out in NYC sometime in the next couple of months.

SaroVati - Thanks for always being there, being responsible and professional. You are a model player and I wish you the best in the future.

Jason (Insidia) - Thank you for all of your hard work and lending us your talent as a designer. Thanks for always working with me and being understanding when we needed last minute graphics and the like. I hope life is treating you well!

Jonathan - Thanks for the help, support, and enthusiasm on the community team.

Ganzi, Thanks for all of your help and work with the Academy. Your positivity and commitment was always appreciated.

Seeker and Enxam: Thanks for coming on and helping when you did. I wish the team had been in an upswing instead of the opposite. We could have done a lot more.

Vicky - Thanks for being a positive influence to Brandon. For being the house mom and keeping things clean and the kids fed! It was great getting to know you a bit at Anaheim and in NYC.

Wyrd, Zombiegrub, and Kuren: Thank you all for the great casts and coverage you all provided with all of the projects we ran while I was on board. You were a great group to work with and I hope you continue to find success.

Chad - Thanks for introducing me to Brandon. I know that without your recommendation to him I likely never would have become involved in another SC2 team after CheckSix. I am still not sure what caused such conflict or issue between us, but I am sorry that it did. Hopefully the professional world is treating you well. Thanks for your help and the time you put in (while finishing school no less) with all of the brainstorming and player picks and analysis of the Academy. And for helping me to get to know the current team when I came on board.

To the rest of the pro team who I got to know in the year I was on board: Siphonn - Thanks for all the laughs and the good times. Dragon, Killer, Jookto, Shuttle, Motok, Mercy, Sterling, Yong: It was a pleasure getting to know you all. Thanks for your hard work and support while you played for us.

A HUGE thanks to my Academy boys who made that entire project a true pleasure.
Badcop, Mystery, Elige, Bails, Intense: it was great to meet all of you. Continue being awesome. I wish we had the means to do more with you all when we first got you on board. You were a great and talented group of young individuals and you made the entire Academy process worth it ten times over.

Elhaym and Saikou, thanks for coming on board. You know we'll always be boys. It was great having you join the CG family. I hope to see you up in Van city sometime this summer.

Bones - Thanks for also being a model player and always showing up when you were needed, being responsible and dedicated. Being a leader to the Academy and a player and person we could all count on.

Honeybear, TBo, Bop, Padre, and MrNiceGuy: Thanks for all the laughs and good times throughout the academy recruitment and while you were on board.

Mewby - Thank you for all of your tremendous hard work and time that you put in. Thanks for always keeping your word and striving to right the 'wrongs' you had done in the past. We took a chance on you and you never once did anything that made us even remotely consider regretting it. I hope you're still finding some enjoyment in the game.

Well. I've been pretty inactive for the last 9 months. I hope I didn't miss anyone. It's been a long work week. Thank you to everyone who I may not have mentioned who helped me or CG out in one way or another in 2013.

Thank you to all the fans who supported us through thick and thin; those of you who did and continue to support the NA scene. You made all the time, effort, and money we all put into this worth it. I will always remember my time in esports fondly because of it.

I don't know well this team but they had quite the players no ?

Well hope one day, eSport teams can sustain a little better. It's rough to build/manage a team, but keeping it afloat seems Reaally hard

I just know that the guy is called Brandon Altman.

I'd go on about my life whispering with a creepy voice: "I AM BALTMAN"

Anyway RIP

Tired story, and adage, there has been no major change in the profitability of SC2 in the last few months.

Frankly for US teams without huge popular streamers, it was never sustainable to begin with. It sucks.
