For me it is not a lot. 80 players can be in GSL so only 66 players left, 29 korean players are in WCS AM and EU so in total we have only 37 players without any league. Well, are you implying that 37 players are basically unemployed isn't a lot considering the size of the scene? And most of the players which retired in the past few months were "part of" these 37 players - which should not be surprising at all. Especially in Korea there's just nothing to gain if you're not able to play any tournaments. You can't do it as a pro and if you can't do it as a pro, you'll fall off. In Europe/USA it seems like there are quite a lot of players which just play beside studying (or whatever), but in Korea... that's probably not possible.

People blaming over saturation are dumb. It isn't that at all. It's just a lack of opportunity/reason to play. If you don't already have a spot in WCS or you haven't previous made a bunch of money in SC2 the smart move is to retire. WCS has reduced opportunity for players a ridiculous amount. If 2013 WCS didn't exist or was like the 2012 WCS this wouldn't be happening. There would still be people retiring and teams disbanding but it wouldn't be this ridiculous.

This is a long enough period of poor results to warrant inclusion. I think the point that people keep bringing up is that terrans that used to be good (got achievements) have fallen off and are now retiring.
