I don't think it's a coincidence that it's mainly terrans retiring. I'd imagine many of them got tired of being forced to aggressively throw Tier 1 units at an opponent in an attempt to prevent them from getting Tier 3 deathballs because higher tier Terran units are mediocre-at-best.
I'm not calling Protoss or Zerg OP. I am confident Terran is capable of winning games. It's just that I as a viewer and a mid-level player love playing terran but hate the lack of playstyle choices, being forced to play bio or biomine. Look at almost every TvZ/TvP since HotS. Bio versus ling/bling/muta or Protoss deathball. TvP has (since Wings) been mandated around constant multi pronged runby and drop harassment done in order to contain the opponent and attempt to cripple or halt their production/tech. Meanwhile, Protoss have the option to drop too and considering the nature of Warp Gates) have superior base harassment capabilities to Terran or at least would have if it weren't for Stimivacs.
I wish Sting luck in future, whether he decides to play BW, LoL, Dota 2, Poker, WoT or enlist in the military.

It's a shame, but not unsurprising after the WW news.

good luck, really liked the playstyle.

People will always make it about the race as long as it's Terran

I'll always have a heart for NSH players. Sad for Sting, and good luck to him. Thanks for the overview Gamegene! The aggressive Tightrope Terran was fun to watch :D

49 There are only 146 progamers in Korea. For me it is not a lot. 80 players can be in GSL so only 66 players left, 29 korean players are in WCS AM and EU so in total we have only 37 players without any league.

And from those 37, we can probably assume that at least 20 won't be playing in any tournaments overseas. What do they do? The problem is, there's not much they can do.

I worry so much about those 37 that is why we need the 2nd league in Korea (OGN wake up, we need you).

5?
Am I missing something? There's like 4 listed on liquipedia retired in the last 2 months and Sting makes 5. There are more Protoss retiring than Terran, so what's your point?

anyone else did not know him but was sure he was a terran player before click ??
another terran out, how many still playing ??

Back in the dark days of Infestor Brood Lord dominance, this guy and Bogus had probably the scariest TvZ all-ins against Zerg that I had seen since the Slayers mass blue flame Hellion build, and maybe all the way since those obnoxious Makarax early game pushes that worked for about one open season. + Show Spoiler +Although, in retrospect, those makarax builds really only functioned because everyone was kind of bad back then.

Considering that he meant that terrans with no results are retiring, Protoss retirements that you cite, like Duckdeok, probably were not due to a lack of results - Duckdeok, in particular, was winning a lot until the end. In fact, 2013 saw a large number of Protoss retiring, but the cited causes was mainly the transition to SC2/Kespa downscaling/military obligations.
