Woongjin the company is going bankrupt. The team released every salaried player except for Soulkey and sOs (although he could still be in contract negotiations, I guess; that was the last we heard).
It's really nice to finally be getting to watch Proleague again, almost nothing beats watching the highest level of Starcraft.
I really don't mind if Whiplash is casting this, he isn't all that bad. I was OK with watching SNM casting last season, but that was mainly because of the high level of Starcraft. I really hope that Whiplash gets someone a bit better to cast with this season since I really think that he's really good as long as he gets a good person to cast with.

He's talking out of his butt. Let me explain something for those who like to bitch and moan about viewership. Compared to every other bush league out there and the GSTL the numbers are similar across the board. Why do I pay attention to the actual numbers myself? So I can kibosh people like Larkin every time they try to get smart. The numbers really are no different on this website when it comes to western teams playing against each other with TB to SKT versus CJ in PL, which is quite remarkable because it shows consistency in such events. It doesn't matter if it's foreigners. It doesn't matter if it's Koreans or necessarily the time of the event. People will tune it to watch and the key thing to note here is across the board the numbers are almost identical. It's so miniscule it's not worth noting. I know TB said he brings in a few thousand more people because of his viewer base and this is true for things like the ATC, but it's not a significant impact.

Okay... You kind of lost me. I don't know why you are talking about Total Biscuit.
If he's talking about low number of watch for PL in western it's maybe because it starts so fucking late in Europe (well... I should say early => 4am). But there's VOD. (and free ones ! Or 5$ a year).
I really don't understand why people are always talking numbers. Numbers matter for companies. What matters for viewers are games. And PL always delivered.

Precisely.
You did get a little lost in my rant. I found that timezone has very little effect because when you compare let's say the ATC numbers to PL numbers they're very close. Reason I mentioned TB is because of his fan base and the viewers he brings in to a cast (we can coin it caster viewership) because he can bring in a few thousand more.

Actually iirc the highest western views Proleague ever got was when I casted it with Mr Bitter. Also EGTL always got the highest views in Proleague when they played, so the argument that foreign owned teams somehow don't bring in more eyeballs is nonsense.

I think he's just talking in the context of foreign team vs foreign team in something like ATC and not EGTL in proleague. Obviously EGTL is bringing more viewers... they have some of the most well known players in SC2! But EGTL playing in ATC vs Proleague probably draws similar numbers.
Also... I wish you and bitter could have casted the whole season Good commentary and insight, good flow... sigh.

It's also entirely moot. My enjoyment of SPL is not contingent on the foreign viewership numbers.

While I was never satisfied with his casting during Proleague, I actually found Whiplash to be much improved by the time he co-casted WCS KR s2 with Doa. They've become one of my favorite pairs. Actually, Doa + jester is almost always my favorite pair. I miss him with Catzpajamas.

Yes but your enjoyment of SPL is perhaps the most irrelevant statistical point in any meaningful discussion, so I'm not really sure what you're getting at here.

As far as I know they are Samsung Galaxy Khan (that's what Roro was called in the Hot6ix Cup).
Basically: Galaxy Khan = SC2 Galaxy Ozone and Blue = LoL

Actually that had more to do with your own viewer base (the numbers went up for ATC as you were casting). the discrepancy goes between 3K to 10K on average when you consider all the other factors the consistency is the same. You guys got to cast EG-TL and it was one of the first telecasts so of course the number was going to be a little higher than normal. That's what happens at the start. Let's say Mil is playing Axiom-Acer. Guess what those figures are similar too? CJ verus Stars. Baddah bing baddo boom. At the end of the day, it might be different viewers tuning in, but the numbers lineup regardless.
after EG-TL kinda bombed out of PL, interest/viewership dropped for a fair length iirc. the first few broadcasts were popular because everyone was expecting EG-TL to do well.

yep, but that doesn't change the fact that the viewership numbers for different leagues still bring in roughly the same numbers for certain matches and that's the point I was trying to make originally, which is kind of interesting once you think about it with all the moving pieces on this website because the ATC does get similar views to PL. I found that quite interesting.
i think that's somewhat mainly due to the fact that ATC has better viewing times for the western audience, especially EU, which is the bulk of western esports viewership.
dont know why you guy keeps shitting on viewership or how bad SPL is stream-wise. I've said it thousand of times, this is a televised cable program. Not like they care about a few thousand of (mostly unsubscribed) viewers with that charity price.
Even for online experience, there are Korean ones like some naver stream or SPOTV (which is also on some kind of cable iirc) in which Korean audience is the focus. Yeah not a few thousand of mostly unsubscribed viewers who bitch about 4 days of free, great entertainment every week
Actually, as far as casters go. We know that Whiplash will be casting.
Who are other available casters with no long-term casting gigs? Nathanias would be one, but he already said Kespa was not really happy with his piggyback casting he did before. Another one would be Gretorp, that would imo make sense. Can't think of anyone else really, unless someone like Idra or would consider moving to KR.

It's not Gretorp, he won't be in esports.
DOA or Chobra are good guesses. Just thought maybe it was confirmed by now.
I bet everyone here is excited just to see the teams play again. However I am more excited to see what new maps the KeSPA map makers will produce. Last year was crazy and a much needed breath of fresh air, hoping for them to continue the tradition.
After all the trades most of the teams are fairly even at the moment.
Currently ranking them like so:
1 SKT1 2 JinAir 3 MVP 4 IM 5 Samsung 6 KT 7 CJ 8 Prime
But given how little we've seen of most of the korean players in proleague it's so hard to predict. I believe the Fantasy Proleague will be pretty random at first . Sooooo looking forward to this, even tho STX is dead!

Can't disagree with that, but I don't think that's going to be a big factor this season. As long as their production value improves, this season, the viewership should be higher than last season.
For the record though, I watched pretty much all of the matches last season except the EGTL matches. I'm a foreigner, but that crap doesn't get me hyped. I root for my favorite players, many of which are foreigners, but not because they are foreigners. I'm not a drone =P I have more of my favorite players on KeSPA teams than I do anywhere else.

I don't know if there's a KespA team that can afford both.
It would be awesome if they went to KT though. Imagine sOs and Soulkey being practice partners with Flash... Omg.
I would have to cheer for sOs though... KT definitly needs players. Flash is the only one that succeed (and it's relative FOR NOW) but even Chintoss and CrazyHydra are far behind.
Maybe they are practicing like madmen to tear up PL. I really hope so !

Google translation is incomprehensible.
Also... Why is there no mention of Flash ?
uhm maybe pm seeker or waxangel or someone who understands korean or something .. there was a picture about hyping flash vs rain ..
i am not hyped since i feel like it will not end well with flash
Dimano explained me in PM. But thank you. Also you can't ask Seeker. He's a SKT fan ! :p
Flash will destroy everything. I want to BELIEVE !
Although KT did not win last PL.. He did massacre a lot of teams back in the last PL so i guess we can believe that he will destroy everyone this PL. And i didnt notice the KT sign. So Lets BELIEVE ! lol
Seeing Bisu and Jangbi again in the promo vid made me sad, wish they were still with their teams. Proleague won't be the same without many of the retired legends and with Bogus not around after this performances last season =/
So excited but sad at the same time, weird feeling...

Do not remember I was gonna crush my house when I saw JangBi leaving

I don't think there's ever been one (at least not, to my knowledge, with anything in English)
There are usually some English-speaking reporters on-site that may write up summaries afterwards, perhaps even do some live reporting online. They usually did this for the past few media days, so hopefully they'll do it this time around.
