ASUS ROG StarCraft II tournament organizer in Nordic countries, Peliliiga comments on the management of the NorthCon ASUS ROG Tournament after the first day of the event.

The NorthCon ASUS ROG StarCraft II Tournament started today on December 6th 2013. The tournament has faced many problems right from the start which have been apparent to every party involved including the players and the audience. Some of the problems have been out of the hands of the organizers, such as the bad weather in Germany affecting the travel schedules of the players and the staff, but no doubt a portion of the problems can be attributed to the lack of experience in running a high caliber offline tournament.

We at Peliliiga, which is the organizer behind the ASUS ROG StarCraft II tournaments held in the past, have been following the event closely. After the troublesome first day at NorthCon, we saw it necessary to inform the esports community that the ASUS ROG Tournament at NorthCon 2013 is independent from Peliliiga and the events organized by Peliliiga.

Peliliiga wishes NorthCon the best of luck for tomorrow. Apparently at least the stream issues are being taken care of. Let us hope the second day at the NorthCon ASUS ROG Tournament redeems the first by offering an entertaining tournament at the quality the community has been accustomed to.

LOL this is just Peliliiga washing their hands of the tournament since it has had troubles? Nice

Good to know. I was about to make a thread on how peliliiga is responsible for these problems.

Yeah this move seems a bit questionable.

guess you wouldn't have said anything if there was no problem then and you would have received the full benefit of it :/

I'm guessing the reason behind a public statement is to secure the image in the eyes of the sponsors rather than the audience. I don't think the viewers care too much who is running the show.

Well a public statement is better than no statement, even if it's really just a half-assed apology that points blame in a different direction.

Really hoping that tomorrow is near-flawless, so that the viewing experience is somewhat salvaged. Today was awful, with all the technical difficulty breaks and the absurd audio problems.

Good point, but the benefits are mutual too.

Okay, I missed ROG today, was it really that bad? After reading that post I see there been two possibilities;

First is the tournament was indeed so bad that Peliliiga, a former organiser, had to actually release a statement saying how they weren't actually involved with ROG anymore. Second is the tournament had some issues and Peliliiga saw it as an opportunity to smear ROG for whatever reason. Anyone care to elaborate a bit?

Just massive lag/stream issues causing long delays.

Was pretty terrible, several hour long delays with no information to the viewers whatsoever, main english stream was down 85% of the time. Most of the games ended up casted by the community casters (who did a great job)but there was no english one. Video quality of the main stream was between acceptable and terrible when a game finally played. Both viewers and players had lag, welmu and innovation had to wait like 3-4 hours to continue their match. Audio was all over the place and generally bad with some hilarious echo moments. In the end Khaldor and Grubby casted the final group with half a stagelight while doing production themselves pretty much.

I see no problem with this statement. It is just smart business to protect the image of your company. Thanks for the info.

Was hoping for a statment from somebody at Northcon, but a statement like this from somebody not involved is just wrong on so many levels.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

Welmu vs inno. Played one match, series continued 4hours later. And whole that time they were saying 15mins now....30mins...15mins...

You cant even ladder, just wate. And the stream was horrible.

I'd also like to inform the e-sports community that I had nothing to do with the ASUS ROG NorthCon.

I hope that Northcon gets its act together if only so that when Scarlett plays SHOUTcraft America from their computers it won't lag for her o_o
