I feel like he was the better player but he got caught up in the mind-games. In most senses you're right, but SoS' series planning was pretty amazing. As frustrating as it was for Jaedong fans, and probably viewers in general, to see those first two cheeses, SoS demonstrated that he was perfectly capable of playing other styles. He actually did very well in the game on Whirlwind, it's just that Jaedong is absolutely world class at late-game tech switches and at denying a third. Polar Night was one of the most phoenix-heavy strats I've ever seen pulled off. And that attack on Frost was pretty brutal. It was Parting or Dear quality for the first and third parts of it, and probably would've run the Dong over much quicker if not for that small spot of mismicro during the middle part of the attack. In a more straight-up mid-to-late game scenario, I agree that Jaedong has a huge advantage, but the much-beloved MVP didn't exactly win his championships through overpowering mechanics. I guess SoS has kind of rekindled a bit of fanship I had for him from early on in the year when every game he played was as wonky as during this tournament.

I hear you, don't want to take anything away from sOs - he played masterfully. I wrote him off in my head before the tournament started as a player who fumbles under pressure, but he held it together exceptionally.

JangBi and sHy had the best winrate when all the marbles were on the line in the regular season of PL. They only lost once in the six times they were sent out.

But sOs only got sent out once for ace match :o In fact, Liquipedia says that Woongjin Stars only had 5 ace matches in the entire Proleague season. They were just too dominant, lol

Might not have been too bad for attendees, but walking back/forth between the two sides to get whatever booth shots I could get between opaque booth wall and monitor while carrying 40lbs of gear is Not Fun. I hope they burn these booths and build new ones for next year :V
