Since our establishment as a professional esports team back in September, with the support of this amazing community Clarity Gaming has grown and progressed into one of the Premier North American organizations in Starcraft 2. Founded around the core values of family, hard work and self-improvement we continue to strive to provide quality content and entertainment to the masses while providing a training and playing environment conducive to success for each of our progamers. Today, Clarity is proud to announce the newest addition to our family of dedicated and talented professionals.
This native resident of South Korea has been involved in the Starcraft community since Brood War and has always specialized in unorthodox tactics, bringing a comedic flair to his games, and providing a stream that’s unrivaled by his peers. Clarity’s newest acquisition is no stranger to the big stage either, having experience competing in some of the world’s largest and most established tournaments as well. A veteran of leagues like the GSL and Dreamhack, we couldn’t be happier to welcome him to our lineup and support him in his goals and career!
Please help us welcome YongSoo Jeon to our family and professional roster! The North American server is about to become a much more dangerous (and hilarious) region with the coming of Dragon to the Clarity Gaming Training Facility in New York later this month. YongSoo will be joining current house residents SeongJin “ClarityShuttle” Choi, Felipe “ClarityKiLLeR” Zuniga, Alex “ClarityShew” Raymond and Kevin “coLQXC” Riley. Please show ClarityDragon your support during this transition and join us in welcoming him to America and Clarity Gaming!
Well, I was so disappointed when he did not qualified for GSL Code A...I hope,we can see him go through the Challenger NA Season 2 at least. We need more Terrans hehe GO GO Dragon, less trolling and more hard work man.
Actual announcement was pretty anticlimactic what with the sound cutting out and all but still, congrats Dragon and congrats Clarity!!!! Been a long time coming

I think it's a great choice. If you watch his streams, it's evident that he matured from the past and that he really genuinely cares about his fans. I know him personally and he works really hard, and he just needs a team that will have people who'll support him both in game and out. Clarity is a team about second chances and supporting the underdogs, so I think it's a great fit for him and for Clarity.
Hate to be the party pooper, but unless they got him for a really really cheap price this is a very bad move if their intentions were to have a strong tournament winning lineup

If it's just for exposure, it's a superb pickup
Coincidentally, him being in the top GM of multiple ladders means he definitely won't win any tournaments ever..... Yeah ok. I'm grateful for the pickup and am super excited to work with YongSoo! Clarity fighting!

Whoosh. That was the point. Given Dragon's personality, it wouldnt make sense to introduce Dragon and his quirkiness while Hans Zimmer was playing. It was rightfully made.

are you kidding me? he is among top players in NA imo. can go toe to toe and usually beat out the likes of demuslim, huk, stephano, even idra.
He might not be as good as Flash or MKP or Life yet, but he is def capable of winning tournaments in NA or EU and he should have qualified for code a.....he had a tvt in his qualifier where he basically got build order screwed + he was very tired and was probably very nervous since he was prepping for it for weeks ;(

Only problem is he seems like a Cella V2.0. Cella made it to the finals of the code a qualifiers and announced and proceeded to 6 pool for his fans. IMO he would seems to obsessed with pleasing his fans or viewers with crazy or unorthodox strats to make a huge tournament run. Altough from what the slayers players said about him during his time with them he does seem to have the ability to be seriously good.

He has committed to playing the strongest he can, and is extremely excited to be practicing with Shuttle in the team house.
Glad to see dragon got picked up by clarity. I noticed when watching his stream lately that he has been playing really well and it kinda reminds me of the old dragon. good shit.

And calling Stephano an NA player.

It's kind of sad that people are still talking about this. First of all, it was never "confirmed." The details to that are still unclear, and it doesn't even matter since 1) he apologized, and 2) most of his progaming career/time spent in professional teams after that incident anyway. He hacked in one incident, not "for a long time," so please stop the drama. I even talked to coL.TheStC personally, who was the person who accused him, and even he said that people made a big deal out of something that shouldn't have been and that he was over it.
It's more disgusting when people find every single, insignificant, small reason to raise pitchforks instead of coming together and being supportive in the esports community. If you don't like someone, just ignore them.

He cheated in tourney, trolls low leaguers and used to snipe and cheese people like Idra and Destiny to make them mad. Apparently those aren't good reasons to not support someone.

The thing about Millenium "jessica drama" was because he said he was leaving slayers for an IRL job. She didn't know he let himself few month in case a foreign team wanted him before going for the IRL job. Nothing to do with the cheating which was way before Slayers, in team Werra, team where Cella was in it, so Slayers couldn't not know about that.

From Liquipedia:
After getting expelled from WeRRa, Dragon joined SlayerS clan. He succeeded in qualifying for GSL Season 3 in November 2010 which led to a public outcry. Despite public pressure, GOMTV took no action against him. After getting eliminated by NesTea in the first round, he wrote an apology for breaking his earlier promise. Mr. Chae from GOMTV also released a statement explaining their stance on the matter.[16]

It's not even clear what Dragon did. I hear it's stream cheating, I have no idea to believe it or not. But obviously GSL administrators did not feel it was a big enough crime to warrant a severe punishment.
You just sound jealous that Dragon gets stream viewers. Disciplinary action and stream view-count is related how? And generalizing 3-4k users, bravo. Please do tell, what "type" of people are we?
"plz dont compare him to me"
Don't worry, you're nowhere near Dragon's skill level - which is what matters in the end.
It's really nice that Clarity seems very supportive of Dragon's personality. It'd suck if he had to "behave", as in lose what defines him as a player and what he's loved for.
That aside, I hope he gets a nice practice environment because he's very, very good even by mostly playing troll games. I can imagine if he focus more on real practice. Dragon Fighting!

As much as I enjoy watching Dragon's stream, I gotta say he has no chance in tournaments right now. With proper training, yes, but currently he's play is very predictable. Not to mention basic mechanic errors like constantly supply blocking himself in almost every game. Not as good as flash, MKP or life? I don't know why you brought up the best players for comparison when he is currently not as good as most tier 2 or 3 players.

What proof do you have? Besides a TL profile that vaguely accounts what happened and even explicitly says he did not clarify what he did wrong.
I find it really pathetic people come on here to bash a player and his success in becoming a new member of a team. Have you nothing else to hate on? As if twitch.tv chat rooms and other mediums are not filled with enough slander and immature behavior.
In an industry that needs nothing but support and growth, people choose to hate on small, insignificant incidents that date back to the beginning of WOL days. I can't tell you how many times I watch a "Pro" player lose a game, and automatically claim the player that won was hacking/cheating.
I sincerely hope TL moderators will begin to take a stand against this behavior towards Dragon, since they apparently write the history books. Moderators ban, or at least temp ban, this sort of slander on any other player, so why not Dragon?

What was your punishment? A reputation flaw as a former map hacker doesn't count and Dragon will always have the same. As for the Dimaga ban it all depends on who is running the tournament that the crap happened in. TL is strict with their bans. He was still able to play in all other events.
plz stop hating dragon adds some sense of humour to the scene which many have to really try for to get the laughs . . .seriously tho, look at the scene even the regular ladder players treat this game like a job, no one really means glhf anymore it leaves a sour taste in the mouth! GL dragon, clarity has my support now! T shirts . .get em made!
What the hell is wrong with picking up Dragon? His stream is ultra fun to watch, and he has a loveable character. I don't know why people can stand Idra, yet can't take Dragon. Dragon even speaks a fair bit of English, and interacts with his stream viewers. Sure his skill may not to be top notch, but it sure as hell is good enough to consistently top every single ladder that isn't KR.
Glad to see Dragon get a team, no matter what mistakes he made in the past he's awesome to watch and seemingly a great/entertaining/nice guy to listen to so I'm really happy for him :D

You mean he was sorry he got caught? He stream cheated and hacked for a long time, even hacked in a tournament. Hacking in tournaments is fucking disgusting, its appalling he is still part of this community.
Hacking in a tournament is not an insignificant action.
You say you want this industry to grow yet you welcome cheaters with open arms? Are you stupid or am I being trolled right now?
cmon guys, people seriously complaining about stuff that happened years back
if we were all judged for that kind of stuff, nobody would be in work, nobody would be friends with anybody and about half of the people in your respective country* would be in prison
i thought clarity gaming was about gaming not entertainment/trolling. Hmm well...sometimes you have to enter a new market. :-) GL to both parties. I like Dragon and Clarity.
Are people seriously complaining about Dragon being signed?
Dragon is solid player but his strongest skill is his unparalleled skill as an entertainer, entertainers bring viewers and viewers help the scene grow. He's a scoop for any foreigner team - considering eSport haven't taken the same cultural root as it has in asia.

best of luck to clarity and dragon.
Do you suggest we continue harping on them for years to come? Perhaps 10 years from now, after LotV has been patched to perfection and names of the best players today have faded into history, we should still remember "that one matchfixer/maphacker"? Should we also re-ban Byun and Coca?
I have no clue why you guys are so keen to remember people for their worst, when they have so much more to offer to the community.

All sports pretty much give players a second chance, only permanently bans are usually from assaults, matchfixing or being part of doping distribution groups. Maphacking is fairly innocent compared the other offenses a player actually can make.
Hell, Cantona was still a professional player, with only an 8 month ban, after intentionally kicked down another player and finally he jumpkicked a fan on his way off court.
Personally I'm more against the "holier than thou"-pitchfork mentality we have in eSports and strongly believe it's more harmful than giving players a chance to redeem themselves.

I very much agree with this. Dragon is certainly a player who brings viewers simply due to his charisma, as an anecdote he has gotten several of my friends who don't even play Starcraft or eSports in general into watch his stream for entertainment and the SPL for the actual Sport. :-)
Ok, first off, let's all be honest with ourselves, the man is damn good at Starcraft. Noone can really deny this fact.
Secondly, did any of the critics think about how they would perform stepping onto a stage in front of a live audience and trying to perform at their highest standard? Especially since Dragon had been out of the live pro scene for so long. The games he has played in the most recent live tournaments were exceptional. If you watch the VODs i think youll see that he rarely was "blown out" in any of the games he played. Sure there are a few players that have his number, but when it comes right down to it, Dragon has the potential to give any top player a run for their money, and the fact that he is "past his prime" in age (so to speak) says wonders for his natural ability and understanding of the game.
Yuna is absolutely right when she says that if he finds a team (which i hope Clarity is) that will work on his flaws, he will only improve his live event results. Also, being in a house with other Koreans will greatly help his inter-house relations, which was a big problem at Millenium. Every professional sports icon has a period of down before the up. In addition, everyone gets nervous, and has to learn how to deal with it in their own way.
Yes, Clarity likes having Dragon for his fanbase, of that their is no doubt, but to completely write off his natural skill level is absurd and only insults Dragon, Clarity, and ESports in general. If thats what the critics are going for, great, you have "suxesed". If their goal is to just be a Debbie Downer, well, im sorry your personality forces you to act in a certain manner.
On topic, congrats to Dragon and Clarity, and ESports as a whole, having known players active in the community can only be a good thing for the ESports future. Good luck with your next big moves Dragon!

But why would Clarity value his skill as an entertainer when he doesn't even mention Clarity in his stream? I mean, I would understand it if his contract contains showing the Clarity logo on his stream. It's basically the same as buying valuable adspace, except that you still get a solid player on top for team matches.
edit: Anyways, not really complaining, just genuiely curious to see what Clarity has in mind with signing Dragon.

Actually, players that fuck up in normal sports at the level of those screw ups get banned. The black socks for instance were all banned from professional sports (including the fan favorite "shoeless" joe jackson). In a lot of cases, they are simply fined or suspended, like these players were though. Best of luck to dragon, I hope he can manner up a bit though, though I hope he can do something for clarity just as much. Best of luck to the both of them.

Are you honestly comparing the black socks scandal with maphacking?

I personally don't have much of a strong opinion on Dragon in this regard, nor do I really oppose Clarity signing him, since he's primarily an entertainer not a major competitive player, but don't call map hacking trivial shit. It's not, and while it's ok to forgive, to brush it off as trivial is dangerous for the scene.

Solid.
Not top tier obviously but still can take games off quite a few people including byun and polt on NA ladder. Although I know his major problem is tournament performance.
