Hi, I'm Bones, Grandmaster NA Protoss and a member of Clarity Academy.

A brief playstyle summary: I play a very solid, reactive, and sometimes passive style of Protoss, mixing in harass with strong macro as well as the occasional all-in.

PvZ - I usually either take a fast third off 1G Robo or open up Phoenix into fast Colossus with a third base depending on the map.

PvT - I prefer the double forge macro style, usually opening with a couple of Colossus then heading straight for Storm, occasionally going for a strong 2 base +2+2 Storm timing attack.

PvP - I usually open with double gas on 15 supply, going for a safe Stargate opener and playing reactively based on consistent scouting with hallucination.

Hopefully the replay pack will be helpful, entertaining and/or educational.

Link: http://www.mediafire.com/?9zy394zhdtyckdj

If I counted correctly, there's 73 replays in there. 28 PvZ, 25 PvT, 20 PvP. The vast majority of these games should be vs other GM-level players on ranked ladder. All replays are labeled with a rough description of the game/builds as well as the match-up.

There's quite a wide variety of games in the pack; from solid macro games, to cheese defense, to timing attacks, and the odd wacky game to boot.

One thing to note is that I'm releasing this pack a bit later than I would have liked for a few reasons. Some replays in this pack date back to mid-March and may seem slightly "old", but they should be fine and still worthwhile. The next replay pack should be even better; more fresh games, more refined playstyles and hopefully more games vs better players as I improve and play more with Clarity Academy!

You can also find past replay packs as well as VODs and other info over on my Liquipedia page. However, as of now pack #4 is the only post-HotS release replay pack of mine, so the other replay packs are beta replays that no longer work and are rather irrelevant.

I'll be continuing to grind NA ladder, improving my styles and saving replays for the next pack; so look for that as well as some more streaming of ladder in the near future.

Watch out for great content from the Clarity Academy as well. We'll be playing a show-match vs Complexity Academy on Saturday 5/11 at 9PM EST.

Please feel free to leave any feedback in the comments below.

Thanks!

Thank you for this! I'll definitely check this out. Perhaps an odd question, but how did you get so fast yet retain such usefulness in your actions? I've been looking through a few of your replays in SC2Gears and your APM is exceptionally efficient, even at 300+ apm.

As a low Masters player I can play at that speed, but the majority of my actions would be spam, and I'd love to find out how to be more efficient with my actions as Protoss.

I don't know. I think that a decent amount of that APM is cycling; cycling through my army, production, nexuses, forges, etc... constantly checking in on various locations where I might have idle templar or whatnot. I do a lot of this, and I think most of that counts as "effective" APM.

I guess the only thing I can say for advice in being both fast and useful, is to always be trying to do something useful. Devoting any downtime to doing anything from improving idle army positioning in case of an engagement or sending a few stalkers to harass a PF mineral line in PvT. Another thing along those lines is hallucination scouting, which I feel is very important in all the matchups currently.

You better have a lot of time if you're going to watch bones' replays. He usually won't attack till the hour or so mark. Definitely a good watch though if you're wondering what happens after late game.

Haha. Yes I do have a tendency to play long games, but I'm no Avilo!

Ooh, intriguing. I especially like the idea of the +2/+2 Storm timing attack in PvT for the games where I just cannot seem to take a third.

I like that you label the replays too!

Will definitely check it out, and congrats on making it through Clarity Academy!
<@Wikt> so you are one of those nega-fans <@Wikt> that hates the company that makes a game and everything they stand for <@Wikt> but still plays the game <@Wikt> (like roughly 30% of blizzard's player base, maybe much more...)

hi
any chance of you posting pack when you loose?
i need this for some statistical analysis and they are pointless when some one only wins

I've realized this, but I feel like losses are usually not good replays for a pack as those losses are caused most often by silly mistakes which tarnish the replay's usefulness for positive analysis/learning (obviously analyzing the loss would be useful to me, but not really to a third party. It's better to show how to beat something with X build than to show you losing in that same situation), so probably not.

Bones is a really good protoss! If you want to watch a protoss with extremely good macro and mechanics, and really fast APM check him out!
