No no, the CD Key comes in the box! Anyone can use the CD to install, but the key is what goes into your account.

It's actually an extra $12.90~ to order it through TL for me than it is to order the digital version direct from Blizzard. (For some reason Amazon charges me more for sales tax than Blizzard does.) And an extra $16+ than if I ordered it through the website I normally order games from.
That said, if I wasn't in a hurry to get the game, I'd probably order through TL.

The commission to TL comes from Amazon.com for linking to Amazon.com. TL won't get any commissions from linking to the Blizzard store for the digital edition (which is the only place to get it).

BTW, I like the physical copy better for blizzard games because you get the cool extras like free trials, custom art, etc. Not sure if you still get that with digital copies.

I wanted to do this months ago when you started offering it in the US store. However, being in Canada, that was not ideal for me. I ordered WoL through TL because you guys offered the amazon.ca option at the same time.
I ended up preordering HotS on directly on amazon.ca a while ago, and am now getting it for 35$ because of their always get it for the lowest price pre-order deal thing.
If you guys had offered the CA option from the start I certainly would have used it. Hopefully for LotV.

I'd be happy to buy it from TL but considering bad experience I have with polish postal service, I don't trust really in the arrival on time and Amazon doesn't really have that much muscle here. I opted for digital preorder some time ago - you will get my money through some other stuff, though - especially true after I saw this:

I live in Europe , but I want to purchase the game from US for 40 bucks so the question this is a normal HOTS i mean with not specific region like NA , ASIA and so on this thing its getting clear when you activate the acc so wherever i buy it from it doesnt make any diff right? sorry for the dumb question but I have never done this in the past.Thanks

LOL British folks spend 10€ less on HOTS than Germans. That´s unfair, espacially because amazon won't garantuee to deliver the UK version on time in Germany.

I received the US version as a gift while in Canada and now live in Belgium. Should I buy the US version or is the EU one ok ? I'll gladly order helping TL if I am sure which version to order. If unsure I'll go with the digital download I guess but that means no bucks for TL.

Cool ! I live in Japan but I'm french and as I have an EU version for WoL I was told by Blizz that I need an EU version for HotS as well or I won't be able to update my SC2. And my battle.net profile being set as a japanese resident now, I can't buy the EU version online and I have to buy a physical copy of it. So now I have really no reason not to support TL and sure I will

I'm using the English client from the beginning (which I could download by using German retail key), so I cannot directly verify it but the only reports of a cut version were rumors long before the release. Websites that document cut versions of games have nothing on Starcraft 2.

You can definitely do that, this is just a list of some EU countries that it ships to, not an all-inclusive list.

In germany its 32,4€ if you deduct taxes (19%). Not sure about taxes for US/UK/SEA etc.
I think you could order from amazon.co.uk and have it ship to germany or wherever, not sure about shipping costs. You are not imposed to taxes as long as its EU.
With WoL i received my physical disc a day ahead from amazon.de, hope same happens for HotS.

There are no inner european taxes on software in the EU.
So ordering the UK version would indeed be way cheaper.

If I preorder through Amazon, do I need to select it as Priority shipping for it to arrive the day of release.
Also, do I get the CD key before-hand in case it doesn't arrive so I can download and play?

HotS(and WoL too) will allow you to have an account in any/every region. So yes.

I don't know how the amazon referral program works, but couldn't you just have an amazon link somewhere and everything we order through it gets TL some money? Or is there a reason why it's only for SC2 / Diablo 3 purchases?

Technically it won't be region-free, as in there are still the usual regional servers, but you can login to everyone of them with one account.

I know it's a bit unrelated but I'd like to know:
If I preordered HotS using an amazon account unrelated to my Bnet account(different email address) for a SEA version, do I get a CD key before the physical copy arrives on 19th?(thats what amazon said) If I do get the CD key before the physical copy arrives where will it be sent to? the email account for the amazon purchase?

Got it from amazon through the link, wanna play so bad, I regret it, just a little bit. I prefer to have a physical copy anyway.
Edit: Got mine at 9 am with free 2 day shipping. so only 6 hours after release, not bad.

I pre-ordered from Amazon months ago, and got the email today "your item has been dispatched... estimated time of delivery, 18/03/2013". A whole fricking week!? I guess I did get close to 2 months of action through the beta, but still. I remember the good old day when I pre-ordered GTA:Vice City from gameplay and got the game 2 days before store release. Those were the days.
If it was just a multiplayer expansion i'd be fine with the wait but I think I was one of the very few people who was actually looking froward to the new campaign. Ah well, I've waited this long, I can wait a little longer.

People complaining about a week? My copy has an estimated time of delivery for 01/04/2013. Either Amazon is slow as hell for no reason or else they're playing an early April fools prank on me.

Yeah mine was supposed to be here today, but apparently UPS required my signature, which I couldn't provide because I was at work when they showed up. Of course, they've left other video games I've bought through Amazon before, but the one I'm really looking forward to? Nope. I'd love it if Blizzard would partner directly with TL for the LotV release and offer referrals for the digital purchase, because I'm tired of UPS's inconsistency.

As Nazgul pointed out the link has been up for over a year. And when it was put up, there was a banner on the front page of TL(like the HotS Forum Closing banner) announcing that HotS preorders had arrived and that the preorder would grant beta access. You also could've, you know, actually checked the TL store anytime this past year after preorders were announced.

Its an addon, this means you need the base game (WoL) to install and play it.

Amazon says I won't get mine till the 18th More than a little bummed :S especially cuz that's like my huge midterm week, so I won't be able to play it for a while

I'll get it on the 16th, but most of the time I recieve items 1 day before the date. I won't be able to play soon anyways but it's still disappointing that's it's not sent 2 days after the release date.
edit : The tracking log tells me it can't deliver today because of the weather. There's nothing wrong with it but well. I guess it's for the 18th :/
