Seriously I almost never watch video interviews but he makes them interesting since you never know what direction he will take the conversation to.

No offense, just saying. Yeah Callahan, one would think that's obvious, but the reason people connect ´quitting smoking´ and gaining weight together is first and foremost because people look at the cigarette(or tobacco in general) as a sacrifice, i.e. you are missing out on something specific (an enjoyment) / you won't be able to enjoy certain social occasions as much in the future. And as long as people do that, they will reward themselves in some way, and that's most easily done through food, and hence, an increase in people's daily calories intake -> gain weight. Thus, I wouldn't say it is a myth, it is just people's ignorance in general as to how they lose weight and gain it that causes the problem, but in the case of the cigarette, I already wrote a lengthy reply as to suggest an advice to quitting smoking without any regrets or doubts (and thus without any increase in your food intake as you lose any desire for the cigarette). This reply is in Ret's thread where he announces his withdrawal from tobacco and the beginning of a new healthy lifestyle (http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=377560¤tpage=4). I was hoping he would check it out, or well, anyone for that matter. Because it will benefit absolutely anyone, whether a user or non-user, as it will prevent that person from ever trying out, or using tobacoo again ![]() Changed my life at least, just this summer!
