We at the IPL are looking for our next full time StarCraft 2 caster, and we want to make the application process an exciting one! We are going to select 16 finalists out of our pool of applicants who will compete in successive rounds to determine, ultimately, who will receive a spot casting at IPL5 in Las Vegas and a full time job with the IGN ProLeague.
If you would like to apply, there’s a few things you have to do. First, we need a resume and an example of your work sent to IPLCasters@ign.com. Please include the following information in the email:
1.) An updated resume that contains your previous broadcast work along with standard resume material (including but not limited to your previous work experience, education, etc.).
2.) A link to one (1) game that you’ve casted in the past (representative of your best work).
3.) A short, one paragraph biography of your history with eSports.
4.) A high resolution image of yourself (preferably a headshot) to be used for promotional purposes if you become a finalist in our competition.
You must have your application in by 11:59 PM Pacific on October 31st, 2012. We will announce the top 16 applicants on November 2nd, 2012. The top 16 will then be asked to submit a new video to the IPL (with a bit of a challenge thrown in!) by November 5th, 2012. The public will then be allowed to view the videos and vote on who they would like to see in the top 8 of the process. While public voting is important to our consideration, it will not be the sole factor in determining who advances and the decision ultimately rests with us.
The top 8 will then have to complete another challenge by November 9th, 2012, by sending in another video. Again, the public will vote and we will choose the top 4 on November 12th, 2012. The top 4 contestants will then be flown out to cast a round of IPL matches alongside Kevin Knocke at IPL5 at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. There, they will be interviewed by the IGN team and the community will vote again.
The winner will be announced on December 2nd, 2012 live on stage at IPL5. There, they will cast a semifinal match of IPL5 and be given a full time job offer with the IGN ProLeague.

Please hire Orb. I was kind of hoping this would be to replace CatsPajamas to be honest...it's really hard to watch NASL or IEM and then try to watch IPL without wanting to jab a fork in your own ear drum atm. :-/

I think catspajamas is pretty good right now. I used to not like him as much but for a while now I think he's been really good.

Yeah he is very good. If IPL decides to fire Cats I would rage so hard

im surprised to see this. i think cats is really good and i enjoy watching him cast ipl, especially when doa was with him.
CatsPajamas is really good and as a play-by-play guy, he ranks up there with the best of them. IMO, I problem I feel IPL suffers from is the serious lack of good analytical content. They kinda got away with it pairing Doa/Cats because there was a good dynamic between the two, but now I feel like IPL casts are just 90% CP's play-by-plays with random commentaries.
I really hope for the best with IPL as I enjoyed their past content, but NASL really one-upped them with Bitterdam and the much improved Frodan/Gretorp.
i think kevin knocke is about 10 times better than orb. orb is rly annoying, speaks way too fast and he overanalyzes A LOT. kevin knocke is in my opinion the best play-by-play caster there is. i personally dislike total biscuit (arrogant and making too many mistakes about the game itself) and tasteless is like... the HT without energy that mophs into the archon with artosis.

People should take some risks! I know when you were setting up to do this you were still only moderately known in the scene. Look at you now :D! IPL makes some real success stories, and Cats can definitely speak on their behalf.
For anyone interested, even if you think you have no chance compared to other casters, give it a shot ^_^!
no orb....please no orb I really don't like his casting style he speaks so fast, he just has this annoyoing thing about him. Orb is not an analysis guy, they need someone to do analysis if you ask me.

edit: ALSO ORB ORB ORB ORB.
Well, thank you in any case. :D Down 85 pounds at the moment.
In any case, please encourage any caster you know to apply! We've received a bunch of applications already, but we want to make sure that no one misses out.

Dude. That's fucking amazing. You look like Hulk now, keep it up man! So inspiring.
I'd like to see an analyst with Cats as he is an excellent play-by-play caster. I like the attitude he brings to his casting and to live tournaments. I liked the Axslav/Axeltoss combo at MLG and I thought I saw Axslav cast with Cats once or twice and it went pretty well. I'm not the biggest fan of Orb, but I agree that he has paid dearly for his mistakes.
Also congrats on the weight loss, it really showed at IPL this summer. That is hard to do. Glad to see the beard is coming back!
I feel like evilguy13gaming's YouTube series "StarCraft 2: Caster Challenges" should be taken into account for inspiration when going into the IPL Caster Challenges...
"TotalBiscuit has to cast a normal game of SC2. Simple right? WRONG! For while he is casting the malicious evilguy13 will be giving him challenges to make his casting much more difficult."
challenges include: "in a style you hate both players" "in a style of a weather forecast" "in the style of a David Attenborough nature show" "every word you say must now start with the letter B"
Absolutely hilarious.
In other news, I think Kevin "CatsPyjamas" Knocke, one of the best voices in the business (except when he's overly shouting like at GSTL finals ), should really pick up his dropped ID again. Having a trademark ID does not mean your real name is not getting known in casting/commentating IMO.

If you do this IPL, you will lose so many viewers so quickly. I for one will never watch IPL again if Moletrap gets hired.
Says in the OP that we need a link to past work. The only casting I've done in the past is a couple of causal casts for Company of Heroes on Gamereplays, and I don't think I could even find those VOD's if I tried. Is new work also eligible, should I put it out now?

Opinions are opinions. Personally I can't stand Orb (which has nothing to do with his EG incident), but I really like Kevin. By no means my go-to caster, but I don't get upset when he casts.
Pretty sure IPL knows who Orb is. I think they are looking for new talent otherwise they would just interview orb to see if he's ready to resume a larger commentators role. If Orb is the best he will stand out.
Really weird to see ppl rooting for him under these circumstances, this is a new talent casting call. Almost feels like people feeling sorry for the previous witch hunt,

I really really enjoy your casting Kevin, but you need to get a co-caster on your side like Doa. You two really interacted great . So yeah, I'm not really into the idea of a newcomer, then rather get a guy with knowledge n stuff.

I'm not even sure what you were getting at with this post. Orb is actually one of the best analytic casters out there right now. He's known for his in-depth analysis of games.

Orb is one of the worst casters ever. I stand behind his comments, the idea we got worked uip over a few racial slurs is crazy since it works both ways but his casting is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad. It's awful.
