It has been some weeks since we posted about our only protoss player Welmu, to leave the team. But now, after long searching, we found our new hope in the protoss race, in the upcoming, former AoE player TheMista.
Since most of you wont know about him, let me shortly introduce him to you.
TheMista is a former Age of Empire player from greece, who started playing computer games at the age of 8. At the age of 13 he made it into on of the best AoE-Clans out there called "L_Clan". He started playing Sc2 one month after release, but didn't make any great appereance in the EU scene quite yet. However he won a lot of National Lan tournaments and is concentrating on gaming right now. At the moment of writing he is ranked #70 in the European grandmaster league and improves very fast.

We were looking for a new protoss for quite a while and after a lot of searching, we finally found a player, in which we see a lot of potencial to become one of the best protoss players in the scene. We are really happy to get this addition to our roster, since our line up really lacked in a solid protoss player. Have a nice stay with us Mista!

Nice! I can't think of any other Greek sc2 players off the top of my head, always cool to see people from new areas joining big teams.

I dunno, Empire most likely thought they could find someone better than Welmu but didn't really find one... Pretty sure they are regretting letting go of Welmu now.

I've seen "EmpireMista" play Grubby today on his stream. I was wondering if there was an announcement already. Mista played well but Grubby outplayed him.

Don't know where you saw Grubby outplaying him there, they played 2 games and went 1-1.

Isn't this rather old news. I have seen him use the Empiremista tag for a while now on grubby's and white-ra's streams. Didn't put two and two together I guess haha.

I only saw the game Grubby won and "outplayed" might be the wrong word. I didn't mean to imply that he had no chance if that's how you understood that.

Wow, probably one of the most talented players out there, that's probably the sickest pick-up I've seen in a while. I hope he gets some recognition in the mist of all the turmoil created by the usual EG hype :/

My all time favorite Greek player, TheMista, is the best choice Empire could do, as goes for a new talented player. A good focused TheMista can win any player in the world. Competing with the best, will only make Themis stronger, even so by looking his match history, this is already happening.

TheMista's talent doesn't fall short when compared to any other competitive player out there. Now that his dedication is also taken to the next level, I'm quite certain of many great things to come.

Mista is incredibly talented and smart. As long as he works hard, i can see him going to places. He loves warp prism play and often uses multiple warp prisms.
He was known as the "2base mista" earlier on because he would never get a 3rd. He loved to use smart strategies and timings to beat his enemies. But in the last year he has greatly improved his macro, by forcing himself to get a 3rd base and make extra probes. Nowadays he is scary beastly since his repertoire of strategies is pretty wide. He can get a fast third, go for a 2base timing or hit you with a 2base 200pop, 3/3 upgrades classic protoss deathball(he beat stephano like that yesterday, it was funny). All that while constantly harassing you with warp prisms, zealots and dts. You can download some of his replays from here

PS His liquidpedia page is missing tons of info. Mista has won thousands of euro cash(or prizes) from tournaments, though they were mostly greek tournaments. But i am too lazy update the page

ladder rank means very little, he was referring to player skill, and in terms of results Welmu has a lot more to show
but on topic, i love that Empire has invested in some up and coming talent, rather than just poaching an established player, and I really hope it works out for them

This thread is not meant to be a comparison between these two players. EmpireMista is kinda new to hardcore sc2 scene and he climbs ladder and ranks very fast. Seems pretty promising. Welmu is also a decent player but Empire chose to dismiss him... i think they know better and i trust their decision. Pretty much sure they know better from us all.
