The second season of this year's GSL has seen the rise of a new Order. With the elemination of all but one former GSL champions even the mighty DRG was not able to stay in code as for too too long. His quick fall - exaclly following the GSL "champion's curse paradigm" - together with the elimination of all Zergs left the members of the swarm scattered and destroyed. The last Code S vanquisher, in the person of IM's gamegenie terran, is left to fight back the new forces of Startale and TL.
He is not only the last remaining champion but also the last piece of former "terran dominance" (or atleast Terran's predestination to appear in Code S brackets in huge numbers) and IM's roster which has been target to the accusation of slumping.

But times change a new forces shall rise as old guards disappear from the spearhead of korean proscene. With their ace player MKP(nearly singlehanded allkilling Prime trough GSTL Finals) eliminated and no other players in the last four left it is time for their bitter rivals Startale (with not one but two players in the semifinals) to dethrone the reigning Kings of GSTL. After the huge drama around the bitter sweet decision it seems somewhat deserved for Squirtle or Parting to get a player of team Startale a title. A title that is fitting such a solid roster that was educing the new line of Protoss players. It is time for Startale's Protosses to inflict their whole arsenal on the remaining opponents.
As the terran forces are finally liying in shreads the very greedy Protoss playstyle
made MVP play offensive and not so much macrocentric against the foreign hope Naniwa (as Blizzard intended things to be as such ) to denie a deadly late game.

With Terran and Zerg beeing decimated the new order seems to be detemined by Protoss players. Even with the only foreigner Naniwa eliminated a little glimpse of foreign hope is left in fan favorite and runerup Hero who also beeing a korean is at least on a much appreciated foreign team (tl´Hero fightin <3). Hero is also the only Player left who might get the chance to take the royal road with his very interesting and bisuesk style. He is offcourse the 3rd protoss who might have the chance to make the victory of the toss complete. Even if the road to this achievment is covered with the blood of at least one other Zealot.

MVP is the last hope of terrans if he has to play on May 19th again we might see the resurection of a fallen champion? After IM's huge spnsoring contract it would be good to see him taking back his crown and achiev just another code S title. If squirtle and parting advace it might be just another team-kill final and the chances of this are by far possible. It would be another storyline of the supirior Startale force that might have a good chance of wining more title in the future if not running on tilt? We might see them take over and errect a terrible deadly reign. Or we might see Hero beeing the hero of foreigners. Either way this might lead to a new phase in the history of SC:II - a possible Protoss dominance. Is there one MVP left to stop them all?

It would actually feel like a crime if MVP get' this GSL... he has looked very mortal while the rest of the top 4 have looked a cut above... although stranger things have happened, here's hoping that a Protoss finally wins another GSL!

Just look at Jjakji in GSL November - the Ro4 was Oz, MVP and Leenock.

At the time, nobody expected Jjakji. His TvP looked suspect, with Oz being the rising Protoss star, his TvT looked thoroughly mortal - especially compared with MVP's brilliance - and Leenock was a god at TvZ, having just won MLG Providence.

Somehow, he pulled through.

Don't count MVP out. At this level, especially with this amount of preparation for every match, each "favourite" player only has a slightly greater than 1/4 chance to win the tournament.

I want to see MVP vs Hero finals, that way it isn't a mirror matchup. But for MVP to get to the finals he is going to have to play some serious mind games against Parting like he did against Naniwa. With the current state of the game it feels that the only way for Terran to counter the "greedier" Protoss openings(Nexus first, with or without forge) is either cheese, even greedier play, or strong two base timing. Personally, I'm not to confident for Hero going into his match against Squirtle, mainly because he hasn't had to practice for PvP at all this season until now unlike Squirtle.

This was a pretty weird GSL season indeed.

- The end of terran dominance?? Ok that was tricky if we are dumb enough to believe the various threads of pure terran tears. Maybe is the end of the dominance into a more balanced scene. Terran dominance last year was so hard, that now that things are less imbalanced (in terms of win%), they cry hard. Terrans are fine, they are mere mortals now. Btw, go check code A results, most P's are losing PvT.

- The beginning of protoss dominance?? Tricky too, as results suggest it. But imo the key of protoss dominance the total lack good nomber of Z players. Most top8 protosses lack of good PvZ. And with no Z on the horizon, things went really good for them.

- Wtf happened to Z's?? Underpowered? Well, as the numbers said, the few Z's have good win%, so i guess not. As a protoss player, ill love to see more Z's, even when i hate PvZ development. TvZ is fun, and sometimes, PvZ is interesting.

- The players: with the exception of MKP and DRG, i feel that for once, the very best players reached the top4. If you see Hero stream, you will know that he have top3 multitasking/micro. But as he say, if you see his body language once he is on stage, he get so freaking nervous! Parting is just sick. He have such a solid playstile, prolly the very best PvT in the world. Squirtle, improved a lot his PvT (alredy with top3 PvZ), also such a talented player. And well, MVP, the beast, the solid candidate to the tittle!

As an Mvp fan, seeing Mvp lose that Daybreak game left me so bitter, if he had won that one mega-close match he'd be trying his luck at a 5th GSL championship right now.

I'm really interested in seeing how the round of 4 turns out. I'd love to see a PvT final but more than anything I want to see another Protoss champion of GSL Code S! And with Parting Squirtle and HerO being the remaining protoss that is looking like a strong possibility.

Nice writeup, good to spread some hype for this. I just hope we finally get another protoss champion, it seems like instead of protoss being strong in fall we might start to establish a tale of protoss being strong in spring in sc2.
As much as I'd rather see another tvp final (wasn't the last one mc vs rain in open season 3?) I really want parting to win a gsl and take his rightful spot as the best protoss in the world. If it has to be a mirror I atleast hope it's not a teamkill, last teamkill mirror final was pretty bad.

Last teamkill final was DRG vs Genius if that was horrible I wonder what you think about the Inca final

My brain tells me Squirtle vs Parting. My heart tells me MVP vs Hero.

I understand you completely, but I'm pretty sure you mean Dual Sight.

Yes, if he had beaten Leenock he would have absolutely slaughtered Jjakji, who was and is pretty weak in TvT.

So DRG and Genius play the same race? Either that or one of us doesn't understand the meaning of a mirror match in sc2...
I was referring to nestea vs losira in july last year.

I was only electrified about the idea behind it. If you are not that exact about other results GSL on its own might look some kind the way I wanted to put it. But yeah I think with some zergs it might look different. It is really a shame Nestea and even DRG or Stephano say they do not practice that much I hope this was just for showmanship and the top tier zergs arent really lazy

MVP is like the evil sithlord emperor who kills ewoks, blows up planets, and oppresses people. Parting/squirtle/hero are like jedi padawan's who have to bring him down.

Why is Mvp emperor palpatine? I feel like he should be obi wan or anakin. hes like the last remaining terran who is trying to claim the most Code S titles ever while combating ridiculous CTS and his worst matchup in a setting where his opponent, Parting, just doesnt lose to terran. Seriously though he's probably the most badass player in that picture!

Is that guy in the picture supposed to be squirtle? Looks nothing like him.

And why is artosis so large, takes emphasis away from the players.
