They probably knew they'd get more views and hype if they piggybacked on the EG announcement.

They made it clear this is just a practice partnership. Nothing else. EG isn't sponsoring SlayerS players outside of Korea. No reason they should take the EG tag. If its just practice partnership why did they have to make so big hype announcment ? I dont understand EG. They would easily have enough money to sponsor SlayerS team. Maybe get more SlayerS member to foreign events so they would also get more money from sponsors and make EG bigger. Just read the press release, it is a practice partnership. Why would EG as a team sponsor another team? That makes no sense.
Its makes alot of sense. Its just like oGs and SK or coL and MVP partnership. SK / coL got the money/sponsors and MPV / oGs got the skilled players. coL/SK send skilled korean players to foreign events where they usualy dominate so coL and SK get lot of money from sponsors and fame. And MVP/oGs is gonna get lot of prize money. Its not worth for a korean team to send players to foreign events becouse traveling costs are usualy higher than 1st place prize in tournament, also becouse they got Korean sponsors it will not be worthly to send players in foreign events without foreign team partnership.

Hmm I was expecting more details. The press release just contains a lot of filler text.

I'm not sure whether you understand how teams and sponsors work...

EG has enough money to buy GOM..................
|
Omg finally Idra is going back to Korea, and Demuslim will get a chance too, they are going to own Code A
|
GOM hands out code A spots to foreigners pretty regularly. I mean they offered jinro one for GSL october but jinro turned them down, they offered one to sheth when he was visiting as a FXO member. They gave one to Huk, Ret, Haypro, for free when they stayed with ogs.

i hope they see demuslims talent and make him train like noone did before so he can own like all the korean terrans!

Quantic trolling us all hard with the EG logo in that video ><

But you didn't know that Alex Garfield himself stated that this way of sponsoring is not in his plans and he doesn't feel these kind of partnership are not the way to go.
All that those partnership are, is, oh you know, we'll pay you to have some emblem on your shirt in foreign events. In my opinion, this doesn't make me think of MC as oGsSK.MC. I know very well that he is oGs.MC. It's better to put money into partnerships like what EG did with SlayerS. YOu get more recognition, it doesn't look like a simple money dump and coatail riding, and it provides an opportunity to invest into your players's future. Maybe they'll even send a few less known EG players on small training camps in korea. Would be sick as hell.

Now I understand why Huk changed teams :D

What i said before is 100% correct. Only reason why coL and MVP etc have partnership is 100% about business. coL send MVP players to foreign events becouse otherwise it would be no profitable for MVP to compete in foreign events becouse traveling costs are higher than the 1st prize money in tournament, (big tournaments like MLG are the only exception) and also Korean teams dont got international sponsors so they would not get any extra money from sponsors. But when Koreans teams got partnership with rich foreign team they will not have to care about traveling costs or sponsors. Foreign teams will get extra money from sponsors + fame when they got Korean pros playing under their name. Both teams gets huge benefit from partnership.
