'I can do better'

Q. First of all, how do you feel after securing the Championship?
A. Since this was my first final in 4 seasons, I was very tense from the get-go. I'm ecstatic to have won because there was also a great deal of pressure on me. I think it'll spur me on to do better in the next season.

Q. You're the first Terran in the GSL to win 3 Championships.
A. I think the most significant part about final was just that. When I saw (Z)NesTea be the first Zerg to do so last season, I thought to myself that I could be the first Terran to achieve the same thing. I'm very happy that Terran is keeping up with Zerg.

Q. When did you start to feel that you had the final in the bag? And what was the critical moment for you?
A. When I held off (T)TOP's aggression in game 3, I knew I had a good chance to win the whole thing. As for the critical moment, it was my decision to use bio in game 5. When I use mech, I have a very good winning percentage against bio users. I was concerned that bio was weaker than mech.

Q. Were there any particular reasons for choosing bio in game 5?
A. There was a psychological element to my choice. During the previous game, I got the feeling that he prepared some custom builds against my mech play. I thought he would use another one of those, so I decided to go bio.

Q. How do you rate (T)TOP's performance today?
A. I got the feeling that he was quite tense, and didn't really get to show his full range of skills. I think his play was quite withdrawn because it was his first time in the final. If he reaches this stage again, I think he'll perform much better.

Q. If you had to pick your toughest opponent in this season, who would it be?
A. I was very pressed for time when preparing for the final. Due to the shortage of practice, I was very anxious. My toughest opponent was (Z)NesTea. There was a lot of pressure on me to do well, and every time I play against him, I feel burdened.

Q. How do you think the final would've turned out, if you had been up against (T)Polt?
A. Since their styles are very different, it would be rash of me to say anything with certainty. However, I do think that I would've fared better against (T)Polt's style of play. Even though I can't predict what the score would've been, I'm fairly confident that I would've won because of my defensive style.

Q. Who you do think will be your biggest competitor in the next seaon?
A. I would say (Z)NesTea is most likely going to be my rival.

Q. Who do you plan to pick during the group selection?
A. I haven't seen the full player-list yet, so I'm not sure. I want to pick players that I will produce entertaining games with, and of course have a good chance to beat.

Q. There are 20 Terrans in Code S. What do you think about that?
A. Frankly, there are too many Terrans, so I have a mind to pick them. There are 20 of them next season, so it would be fine if many didn't make it past the Ro32.

Q. How are your wrists? Does it affect your game at all?
A. They hurt quite a bit during the first game, so it was hard to get set up properly. Before, they only hurt during practice, but going all the way through the tournament meant I was feeling it even more. However, because the first game was a prolonged macro game, the sense came back to me. I do think that my wrist pains are quite serious, but because they hurt all the time, I've gotten used to it and I don't worry about it too much.

Q. Do you feel sad about not being able to participate in the All-Star matches?
A. It looked like a ton of fun, so I'm quite sad that I wasn't able to play in it. However, since I was in the Code S final, I put it behind me and concentrated on my preparations.

Finally, is there anything you would like to say?
A. I want to thank my teammates (T)Happy, (T)dreamertt, (T)Yoda, and (T)Fenix, who recently joined our team, for helping me practice. I also want to thank (T)TSL.Clide, (T)TSL.aLive, and (T)SlayerS.Ryung. I want to thank our sponsors CoCa-Cola and Googims, and my manager Kang Dong Hoon for always working hard for the players. It would be nice if we could bring in similar results in the future.

Finally, it would be great if this win could secure a main sponsor for our team, since we are currently without one. If you want to support us, please feel free to contact us.

This is from Milkis' Twitter:

MVP's wrists look to be more serious than I thought... apparently he had trouble setting up for the GSL finals because his wrists hurt so much. He says he is so used to the pain that he's not worried, although even he thinks it's serious now T_T

They don't have a sponsor??
What?
They have the two best players in the world. This is an outrage

Worried about the wrists though. I noticed it between the games, he seemed quite bothered by it. Not good.

That can't work forever ;/ He's gonna have to take a hiatus eventually. Maybe get surgery like Flash.

Indeed. Perhaps they should do a Complexity/MVP thing with team EG. EG has so many sponsors, they should learn to share.

Hmm do they (pro gamers) play with wrist rests and if not have they tried it? It's been shown to help slow/prevent certain wrist injuries due to keyboard use.

Nice to see that MVP wants to go kill off some Terrans in Code S

Really sad about the wrist pains, though. It seems that as soon as a player becomes really, really good he becomes crippled, it's a tragedy.

I loved MVP's switch to bio in the fifth set, it shows how flexible he was. The drops in the first and fifth set to make Top unsiege were brilliant. It really shows how to break siege lines. :o)

CTS... mainly affects Terran players. Coincidence? I think not.

In other news... sweet output by MVP, well done. Game 1 is probably the best GSL code S final game in code S history. I hope he rests up and continues to perform well.

Love that last plug about the main sponsor bit, made me giggle a little. I imagine that IM will be the first non-SlayerSBoxeR Korean team to get a main sponsor as long as they up their international presence a little bit.

So happy he won, my favorite sc2 player by far.

The SC2 box needs a health warning sticker ...

Seriously Blizzard should have a few pages of warning and information (as to how to prevent injuries) in every box. Taking care of their player base would be a good sign. I have pains in my wrists after a few years of WoW (and other things before that) and there are probably a lot of unknown gamers who have the same.

I think a major problem with people's wrists etc. is bad workspaces...

I have some godamn major pains in my left pinkiefinger (from World of Warcraft where you use 1-9 + Shift+1-9 + Ctrl+1-9) and elbows/shoulders.
Read a topic here on Team Liquid, all my pains have been much much better since !
Moved up the screen, fixed the high difference inbetween my desk/chair etc.

On the topic, cheers for MvP, one of the few really good terrans who haven't just practiced themselves to winnings

what? Blizzard should take actions because some people don't care about their hands? The logic normally says "it hurts, maybe I should change something". (Ofc this will be difficult for pros before anyone just says "do you really think mvp should give up gsl"..)

For progamers, if they refuse themselves to change anything, coaches should do something, but blizzard really should not be blamed for this..

I think with people like Flash and MVP it's more that they play on and on and on, Flash would be the prime example for he practiced for redicules hours, the body is not able to cope with that day in and out no matter how you change the shoulders or hight of your seat etc. It might help but with pro gamers it's the intense speed and work for hours at an end that ruins there muscles.

I guess with esports growing it is time for gaming hardware industry to come up with new tools of their trade that will reduce this.
There will only be more of these problems in the future.
