Can't have everything.
EDIT: If you can watch HQ, you can watch the VODS. Not like anyway can truly appreciate 2 games happening at the same time. Tbh, I have 2x 24" wide screens here. Last MLG was incredible with 2 fullscreen SC2 HQ games up on the same time. Listen to one casting, watch wherever the action is.. Awesome experience T_T

I don't think that's fair. They are a business, they don't want a ton of people sharing HD access. I wouldn't call that greedy. I actually don't think they handled it all that well either, but I understand where they are coming from. They should allow each HD pass to have two streams active and no more than that. It does suck for the people who already bought the pass and now they aren't getting what they expected. I will still be getting one.
I agree. People as just quick to judge.
I think MLG just thought about this change very recently and so that's why their implementation isn't that well thought off.

So quick are people to grab their pitchforks and torches....
You can't watch 2 on their HQ because of the way the keys work. They are going to work on resolving that in the future, but for now you have one in HQ and the other in LQ. No need to hang MLG for this....
|
Why not just limit the number of HQ streams per unique stream instead? So one account can have all the streams open, but not duplicates.
|
If I get commercials on my second stream that is open I honestly regret purchasing a pass.

I can't even do this. Tried one HQ in Firefox and one LQ in IE - didn't work. Tried both in FF, one HQ and one LQ - didn't work....

It does suck for the people who already bought the pass and now they aren't getting what they expected. I will still be getting one. This has NOTHING to do with account sharing. There are a couple of possible explanations.
1) The people who did the voucher system for the MLG streams are completely technically and intellectually incompetent. It is technically very easy to allow viewing red and blue stream, and and still prevent account sharing.
2) MLG do not wish you to view multiple streams. This may be for bandwidth reasons or better understanding of viewing figures.
3) Someone in a leading role at MLG is incompetent and just choose to enforce this policy because it pleases him.
Just like with the replays issue this makes no sense given the explanation MLG provided.

I can't even get my voucher from MGL to watch the HQ stream. My paypal says I paid for it, but I haven't gotten the email after 7 hours.

Its pretty obvious while you can only watch 1HQ.
Let's give an example. me and my friend both want to watch MLG. We buy 1ticket and use the same account.
|
Does it ever end with mlg? Why would you not include this in your product description on the homepage? While we're at it: when registering, having the "receive random commercials from mlg" option re-apply if there's an error in the registration form is such bad style. Stop being hucksters, start being a trustworthy business..
Are you not proud of your product, do you not believe it can stand on its own? Are these tactics really necessary?

idont want everything for free, I will have one on "low" anyways for bandwith, but the way it looks know even with my membership if I swith my streams I will be blasted with adds.

I was honestly buying an HQ pass until I saw this. Why are they doing this? Just dealing with it via IP seems like a more competent way to do it. I'm tired of every SC2 tournament issuing apologies for oversights they should have thought of before the date and promising to fix things in the future. If they are bumps in the road as the broadcast scene fixes it, fine, but how does no one think of this?
I think MLG does the best job, but they should just do what they did in Ohio (letting everyone have access when they messed something up) and just let us access 2 streams here, integrating the "fix" for the next tournament.
|
hmmmmm strange that all this is coming out today, definitely don't have the same "vibe" that Columbus had.

IP check, and puff your friend can do squadd

you cant really blame them, i mean alot of ppl do share and that is technically against the point of buying a ticket to support MLG.
unfortunate but understandable

Can anyone else with a HQ pass verify that they can't watch 2 streams at all, even if the other is LQ? I'm getting real pissed real fast.
|
I'm just wondering. I haven't bought any GSL tickets. How does GOM handle account sharing?
