An interesting tidbit from thisisgame.
Many famous Korean SC2 progamers were polled on who might win and why.

TSL.FruitDealer

Bets on: MarineKingPrime.WE Win, by 4:1 or 4:2

Comment: In the case of the finals, it is not something you know the results just by seeing the skills of the players.

Especially so, in such a big event like the finals, the tension is simply ridiculous. IMmvp does not yet have any experience being in a finals, and it will all boil down to how well he'll handle being there. It might just be a difference of one finals between the two, the experience difference itself cannot be ignored. Therefore, I foresee MarineKingPrime.WE to win.

IMJunwi

Bets on: IMmvp Win, by 4:1

Comment: There is no way to defeat IMmvp with just marine-based play. Of course, there's no meaning to the name of "Marine King" if he doesn't use any Marines. Even if he brings a totally new strategy never shown before, he will not break down the great wall of IMmvp.

oGs.TheWinD

Bets on: Unpredictable, 4:3 Close Game

Comment: I can't guess who's going to win. Both are the current top Terran players right now. Whoever wins, I foresee a close game of 4:3.

HongUnPrime.WE

Comment: I don't give a damn about a Terran winning. Next season, a Protoss will surely win.

Jong-uk Won (STARTALE Coach)

Bets on: IMmvp Win, by 4:2

Comment: Both players should know how the other plays at this point, but I believe MarineKingPrime.WE's playstyle is likely to be very easy to deal with for IMmvp. MarineKingPrime.WE has a speedy, aggressive timing push as his style. In contrast, IMmvp's playstyle is around overall, very sturdy gameplay. It looks to be extremely challenging to defeat IMmvp's sturdy plays using Marine-oriented gameplay. Seeing that, I expect to see IMmvp to win.

oGsNada

Bets on: IMmvp Win, by 4:3

Comments: As a person who have battled both players, I can say that they are both good. To compare, IMmvp can bring a scary decisive push, but MarineKingPrime.WE has a better overall understanding of the game in my opinion. However, in TvT, I personally think IMmvp has an advantage. So, I decide that IMmvp will win with his decisiveness and his sturdy plays.

choyafOu

Bets on: IMmvp Win, by 4:2

Comments: I've faced both players before, and I think that IMmvp plays better. I even fell Into despair thinking, "What can I do to defeat him?". Of course, MarineKingPrime.WE also plays very well, but still, IMmvp is just a bit more ahead of him.

CheckPrime.WE

Bets on: MarineKingPrime.WE Win, by 4:3

Comments: Within the Prime team itself, there are many Terran players such as MakaPrime.WE and HannibalPrime.WE. He can certainly practice with other teams, but the fact he is able to practice while sharing real-time comments give MarineKingPrime.WE an edge over IMmvp. IMmvp should not think that he is just taking on MarineKingPrime.WE. He should do well to think that he is taking on all of Prime's Terran.

SlayerSBoxeR

Bets on: Unpredictable, 4:3 Close Game

Comments: With recent plays and their momentum, I cannot predict who will win. Both players will certainly bring variety of plays, but I expect that in the end, we will see the end of 1 Barrack Double play. There won't be a lopsided results this time, and I foresee a 4:3 close match.

IMNesTea

Bets on: IMmvp Win, 4:1

Comments: It's clear to me that IMmvp has this. I've personally seen how strong he is in the recent finals in an event tournament. I don't think there's anyone who can defeat him. In fact, I had to put in more effort preparing for the finals vs. MarineKingPrime.WE than the actual finals match I had against him. To date, the best player -- including Terrans and everyone else -- is IMmvp, bar none.

oGsMC

Bets on: MarineKingPrime.WE Win, 4:3

Comments: It is very difficult to predict due to both players being incredibly talented. Both have excellent understanding of Terran race, as well as top play capacity. But personally, I want to see MarineKingPrime.WE to win. Don't you think achieving a second place two times in a row, a little cruel?

FOXMoon

Bets on: IMmvp Win, 4:3

Comments: Recently, IMmvp has been on a roll moreso than MarineKingPrime.WE. It is difficult to stop a momentum like that. In order for MarineKingPrime.WE to win, he must bring variety of tactics for every match, but even so, wouldn't it still be difficult to defeat IMmvp?

Genius

Bets on: IMmvp Win, 4:2

Comments: The results from the recent event tournament seem to tell ahead of time who's going to win. IMmvp of today is too strong. Only weakness he has is whether he can deal with being in the center stage of the finals, but I believe IMNesTea can help him with that. So, there is no weakness whatsoever for IMmvp this finals.

Wow HongUn is a bit of a fool for that comment.. i hope it was meant as a joke but you can't really interpret tone in a written interview.. oh well..

I like this .. there is a lot of faith in MKP .. i thought MVP would be the favourite hands down.. oh well, it should be a super close series (i hope)!

Thanks for the translation

Hongun's actual comment is not that harsh though. Literally translated, it would be more like "I'm not interested in seeing a Terran winning", but the fact he didn't even comment on who might win, and his original sentence is on a condescending tone (따위 is used, which is to see something in a low regards or condescending), I decided my translation would go well with it.

MVP is probably the most solid player on Earth right now both with his mechanics and his understanding of the game, but MKP has his miracle factor and godly split second decision making.

I say MKP 4:3 or 4:2.

MC and MKP were teammates back in BW, I wonder if that influenced his decision anymore than just cruel of being 2nd twice, i also wonder if what MKP promised Jinro about winning had anything to do with it.

I think Koreans might see that us (foreigners) might think HongUn of a D*CK with that comment. So i advise to change it more appropriate so nothing stirs up around the clouds. Nevertheless, i lol'd

i say 4-2 either of them tbh, but i see marine king winning from his deadly ass drops when IMmvp is pushing. I am going to quote this if My predictions are true ^_^

It's fun reading this with a perspective of where each player has come from and what kind of experience each player has on the final stage. For example, Moon's comments hold a lot of weight weight me, as do fruitdealers, becuase they have both been on the big stage (many many times in moons case).

HungUn with the best comment, anyways thanks for the translation! I think it's going to be a close series and I'm glad lot's of the pro's acknowledge that and don't think it will be a rofl-stomp, some people not giving MKP enough credit. I think it's going to be a 4-3 but for whom I do not know.

Don't understand comments like "MKP has a better understanding of the game" when both of them are top of top players.

If they haven't fully understood the game, they don't deserve to be in the finals.

Whoever said that doesn't know what he's talking about, either that, or the translation is off.

You'd be hard pressed to find a single pro who thinks they have a complete understanding of the game.

This definitely deserves to be news'd. This is a great translation and is really cool for us to see.

I agree with Check, though. MKP has a ton of good Terrans to work with, whereas IM doesn't have many strong Terrans (I can't think of any well knowns, except MVP). I've played with HannibalPrime before too, and damn, he's really good.

with the way mkp plays could swing either way. jinro/mkp game 1 looked so one sided until mkp did that drop on his unit producing buildings then it looked like he could actually win. I think there will be a couple games just like that when he faces mvp, which is good because those have all been really entertaining games.

I'm a bit surprised by NaDa's MarineKing love. Or, well, not love, but "better overall understanding of the game" is a pretty good compliment when you're comparing him to MVP.

MVP on a 25-3 tournament streak, and 3-1'd MarineKing in the Gainward finals. It might affect MK's mental state going into the match.

HongUn for best comment.

I'm surprised people are saying MVP understands the game better. Whatever else you think of MarineKing, he's repeatedly wiggled his way out of terrible situations by cleverness.

MVP is certainly solid, but he doesn't seem to react well to creative play very well. MarineKing uses his speedy marines to get early map control, expand a ton, harass with drops, and basically play a better Zerg than most Zergs. He's very good at analyzing even the tiniest weaknesses in opponent's play, and abusing the hell out of them.

I agree with Nada's analysis of the players ("IMmvp can bring a scary decisive push, but MarineKingPrime.WE has a better overall understanding of the game in my opinion"), though.

I predict MKP will try to force a base race at least once. Not just because he does that, but because I think it would be a good move.

Thanks for translating that very interesting read. Goes to show that even the Korean pros who are alot closer to these players then we are; Are very much split on their decisions.

I think it definitely will be very close series overall (of course now that I have stated that it probably will not be). I give MKP the edge though. His aggressive style probably will not hurt MVP too much, but will most likely throw him off-kilter.

Also I was already a HungUn fan, but that comment is too funny. Makes me like him even more! :D

This is gonna be a great finals. Can not wait!

thanks for the clarification, had no idea what that meant, and i have to agree with boxer at this point, i'm somewhat surprised that people havent just been rolling that build like it should be easy to do

I agree with all about hongun humour, seems like he has race loyalty before team loyalty

Terran. Because you have no self respect.

Protoss. Because you have no friends.

I bet on MKP because until the finals MVP only played players easy for him , he hadnt a real test.. MVP didnt even got atacked in the groups , it was too easy .. MKP looks like he learns a lot from his mistakes , and he will put MVP in positions that he isnt used too nowadays.

Well if boxer says its going to be 4:3, then thats how its going to be. Because the Emperor is never wrong.

I am really looking forward to this final. I am hoping for some long, epic TvT games like we used to see in BW.

Sounds about right, although I really don't agree with surveying players from Prime or IM. It's not like Nestea is gonna bet MKP over his teammate.

Hongun's answer is still pretty lol.

Not surprised everyone is picking MVP, although I think MarineKing probably has the best shot of beating him out of anyone (except maybe MC), my prediction 4-2 MVP

I agree with this. MVP is solid but MKP is def not gonna get steamrolled (unless he chokes). Twice to the finals, both with pretty hard paths isn't something you can do without some real skill.

Also, MKP has had quite a bit of TvT recently. The matchups MVP's been in have been quite a bit more diverse.

This is the clash of the titans. I give MVP a little advantage but MKP is no pushover and he could very well surprise us.
But remember MVP vs Hyperdub on Metalopolis. Actualy this was the first display of a mass expand mass bio TvT, the very style that MKP used against Nada and Jinro.
Also don't be fooled byt MKP marine style, he can play different style if his main style is inneficient..

Really pumped about this serie.

Im really pulling for MKP. I just like his play. base trades and all...His style is so much more fun to watch than any other Terran player. I havent seen much from MVP besides just attacking with bunker rushes or early marine pushes.

Also, i laughed at what hongun said.

My vote is MKP 4:2. MVP's play is amazing and solid, and while MKP's play looks so flimsy and all-in, his decisionmaking is spot on. If he sees a weakness in your push, he will take advantage of it.

omg when I read what HongUn said, I giggled like a little fan girl. That's such a weird yet baller thing to say. At least it's nice to see Check showing some team spirit in the prime house.

But this is really awesome to hear what all the top players think. It'd be great to see a survey like this every season.

MKP is probably the only one who will really "give a run for his money" to MVP in this GSL, but even if he is not favored, I think he will win 4-2 or even 4-1, cuz it's MVP first final and MKP is just so good.

I think it will go to MVP's nerves. He 3-0ed Nestea in the Gainward tourney, but in the semis of the GSL he didn't do as well for example

Would've loved it if one of the players said, "No matter who wins, the result will be the same as the previous 3 GSLs- a Terran ends up losing."

But I suppose I'll have to settle for Hong's words. :d

HongUn having some fun with question. To those raging, don't take it too seriously he is most likely just joking.

As for the match, I think it will be pretty close. Unlike GSL3 where you pretty much knew who was going to win, this GSL has 2 very good players. I'm going to go with MKP though since a lot of people have been putting him down because of his style of play. He has excellent macro and micro and he has shown some crafty plays when being contained by a standard siege tank/infantry army. It wouldn't surprise me though if MVP wins.
